New Starter Pokemon Revealed!

I actually think the starters look pretty cool. The grass starter, Tsutaaja, and the fire starter, Pokabu, look nice. Yep, its good to see some Pokemon based off a snake and one based off a pig all right because of the fact there are literally little to no Pokemon based off snakes or pigs.

Out of all the starters though, Mijumaru, the water starter, is definitely my favorite out of the three. He really does look cute. Yeah, its really good to see a Pokemon be based off a sea otter. I really hope it will have good stats so that its final evolution will also be good enough to make it into competitive play when Black and White comes out.

Now I'm wondering what will be the secondary types for the final evolution of the starter Pokemon. In my opinion, I think the grass starter should be a Grass and Dragon type since after all, he is based off a snake, and a snake is a reptile, so it would make sense that it would be that type when it reaches its final evolution. For the fire starter, I think he should be a Fire and Ground type when it reaches its final evolution because it would make it look like an epic fire Pokemon like Camerupt. The water starter should be a Water and Ice type when it reaches its final evolution because its face looks like snow, and it would be cool to see a water-ice, powerful kind of otter when it evolves.

Yep, these starters look awesome all right. I definitely can't wait to see how the final evolution for the starters really look like.:thumb:

Sarcasm, tell me this is sarcasm o_O

Snake pokémon are actually quite common, think of Onix (rocksnake) and steelix, Ekans, arbok, Dratini and Dragonair (sort of air snake or water snake).

I feel like the grass and fire starters stemmed from failed concept art for Treecko and Grumpig...

REALLY not feeling this gen so far. Of the 5 pokemon revealed, haven't really liked any of them. The pig is okay, so is Zorua... the treecko thing is barely a pass, and Zoroark and that water thing are AWFUL

come on ken sugimori what are you doinggggggggggggggggggggg

Wow, I think the water type is the ugliest cuz it looks like a clown and clowns are frecreepy. I usually pick grass as my starter in all the games cuz its the hardest one to get through the games...especially the g/s and hg/ss.

Typing predictions:
Grass
Fire
Water

I think they're not going to gain secondary types like the second generation starters.
Although...

Type preferences:
Grass/Metal - I love how metal resist mostly everything.
This will resist grass/poison(immune)/flying/dark/dragon/ghost/psychic/electric/metal/ice/rock/normal
Weakness to - x4fire/ground/fighting ---actually these weakness are pretty bad but I still like the resistance and the fact that grass usually have a way to heal.

Fire/Metal - Did I mention I love metal types? Im sure heatran will still have the fame. Having a non-"legendary" pokemon with this type is good and might as well bestow it on a starter.
Weakness to - water/fighting/4xground --- metal really have bad weaknesses; what the heck! oh well at least it resist almost the rest of the chart.

Water/Ground - Swampert was the best typing out of the three in the third generation.
Weakness - 4xgrass...period...who uses grass as a sweeper anyways. And bulky waters make fluid and solid teams. Look at vaporeon, swampert, and milotic, they have amazing niches in teams with great defenses, recovery prowess and retaliating arsenal. I mean milotic let itself go this past generation but I think it still manageable.

Other ideas
Make the starters have each other's type.
Grass/Water - Like Ludi. Possible since snakes can "surf" on water
Fire/Grass - sounds like yugioh monster. Not a chance, pigs don't just sprout leaves and vines.
Water/Fire - maybe like an organism that dwell on underwater volcanic faults but not a sea otter.

If all else fail, SHEDINJA! because after all, its a wonderwall.

who uses grass as a sweeper anyways.

Shaymin S, Breloom, Specs Roserade, Specs Celebi (Which it can pull off), not to mention all the other sweepers that already run Grass Knot/Energy Ball for Swampert anyway. Not saying the speculation's bad, just a point of info.

Well they made Dark, why not make a Light type?

Actually, the Psychic type is called Light in Japan. Maybe not.

REALLY not feeling this gen so far. Of the 5 pokemon revealed, haven't really liked any of them. The pig is okay, so is Zorua... the treecko thing is barely a pass, and Zoroark and that water thing are AWFUL

Watch them reveal the Dragonite/Tyranitar/Salamence/Garchomp of 5th gen and blow everyone's mind.

How did I forget about breloom!? You're right...but isn't shaymin in ubers? I'm asking here, or is shaymin only uber when its sky-forme?

Well they made Dark, why not make a Light type?

Did you even think about this before posting? What would a light type even be? A good pokemon? Well every pokemon is a good pokemon, it's the trainer's that make them evil. Would it be a pokemon that shines light? We already have that with lightning pokemon! If you want a basic form of "light" type, it would be Colorless. The symbol is even of a star (light) and it's color is white, the opposite of black.

I gotta say that Pokemon needs to hire a PR firm to settle the names of the new starters - that's for sure. Pignition DOES sound good though.

Dark Pokemon aren't automatically evil, either. They're just Dark. Having an opposite to that actually makes sense. Like Fire and Water.

And in the video games the Colorless types are called Normal. The games have no symbols for types, either. That's just the card game.

As for the sea otter, either Piplip & Bidoof have crosbred or Yugi came along and played Polimerization to fuse them together.

THANK YOU! I said the same thing to my buds. Ironically the water one was the only one we got right in terms of guessing before the things were announced (We had all agreed on an otter for the water type but had gone several other ways on the grass and fire).

I personally think that the water's stage 2 will be a panda (I'm not entirely sure why I think this).

As for the fire piggy......I'm curious to see what that becomes, and the grass "snake" fails as it has limbs.....XD

overall I'm excited to see what they turn into and if they get 2nd types to them (I saw some one mentioning pokabu becoming fire/metal.....and I think that's a strong possibility, but we won't know for a while will we?).

i love how they make new starter pokemon, even tho its hard for pkmn trainers/experts like some of us to keep up with these new pokemon. at least they are only making about 4 new regular pokemon and two new legendary for black/white pokemon. maybe they're just going to make a whole new pokedex and other items to use in the next games like they did with Diamond, Pearl and Platinum. i hope they dont take that too far

Only one of the three starters I like is the Grass pokemon. The pig feels out of place as a starter pokemon. It reminds me way too much of grumpig or something. The water pokemon is...I don't even know what to say about it. It's an awful design through and through. Looks more like a cat that tried to be a clown/mime. Its strange.

Sort of off topic, but at least the boy and girl trainers for this gen look cool. I didn't really like the ones from D/P.

I like the fire starter - I plan on making a piggy team (Mamoswine, Pokabu and Grumpig) - assuming pokabu's evolutions stay pig like.....

My buds speculate that the grass starter will have an evolution who's name includes "orochi" in it.

Ha, good idea, and you could call it your "Piglet Draft." However, you better copyright it quick!

I wouldn't expect your bud's idea to hold much water. This isn't Naruto. LOL.

buds' (2 of them thought of it) - has to do with that ancient diety/guardian orochi-something (basically a hydra). Orochi has something to do with snakes doesn't it? But yeah, I question the idea overall of it happening.

I think Vince already has that market cornered ^_^

I rarely name my teams, so I'm not too conscerned if Vince already snagged it.
