I like how they are making Azelf a League Promo and I am not sold on the Energies but they will probaly look cool.

lol The names are under the TITLE and ALT attributes, so you can pretty much just mouse-over the card backs to see the names...

My goodness, I guess six matches were just too little? Now we need eight to get a promo. Maybe this will work for people with fast decks, but I can tell you that there are rarely any quick games at the league I attend...

Although, I guess there's some text on the point cards that may indicate other ways and challenges to get points. Too small to read. I see something about your opponent's Active Pokemon and Benched Pokemon...

Oh, and...

And if you meet more specific goals, you can even earn exclusive Pokéathlon-themed patches!

azelf and e-belt are excellent choices! :thumb:

Pretty sad that we dont get any other staples though :/ Getting 4 Spiritomb, Azelf, and Ebelt is definitely way better than getting nothing, but i wonder why SP pokes/trainers arent getting any love?


Maybe tpci hates SP too :fire:
 
hmm since its only 5 season instead of the usual 8 wonder if they are meant to be longer with the higher match to prizes or will we be swapping to a new smaller league set when bw comes out of say the 3 starters

Or maybe they aren't widely useful to the player that this kind of thing is targeting? Printing blanket staples over specific archtype fucntioning cards makes complete sense to me, this seems more to try and boost the median player while also encouraging the high ranking players to attend leagues. Works for me :D I really need more Azelfs anyway.
 
The five backs are easy to get as well if you just change one number in the url adress of the first season's back. I can't read anything on it :(
 
Season 1: Donphan HS and Spiritomb AR
Season 2: Crobat UL and Expert Belt AR
Season 3: Delibird HS and Azelf LA
Season 4: Steelix UL and Special Metal Energy
Season 5: Houndoom UD and Special Dark Energy

Spec. Metal and Spec. Dark are both playable, you may already have them, but any competitive player already has azelfs, E-Belts, and Tombs so there playability is the same.. :thumb:
 
Anyone else get their league supplies today? I really like the idea of the patches.

I don't remember what they said explaining why it makes those in charge nervous. However, reprinting a card from a set that has already had some shelf life is a safe way to go because the card has already been released.

I am not so sure about that, we got Janapnese Promo's in POP packs all the time.. I doubt that is the true issue, but it is possible that things have changed.

Then it is in a Worlds winning decklist and everyone talks about how Dragonite FB is now a great counter and it's showing up in most decks. That's all I'm sayin'.

Dragonite was always decent as an SP counter. It's just that code monkey was better for a counter against every other type of deck. Draggy FB is fat, and a very specific counter.


It's kind of like the Regigigas promo that did well at worlds. No one cared about that promo until after the event.....then all of a sudden, people want it.
 
Anyone hoping the Steelix and Houndoom are the Primes? LOL

The first three parts look great, but then we have special metal and dark as promos, which even with new art, doesn't make me really enthusiastic about them.
 
Ehh, kinda dissappointed. At least we get some decent stuff, but I was hoping for Calls over any other special energy.

Not too excited about SPD and SPM though, considering they were just printed at uncommon.

Also, it says each league season will be 5 weeks long, but with only 5 seasons that means we're missing a good chunk of the year. Maybe they're not revealing more league seasons yet? Maybe they'll tie into BW?

I kinda like the Metal and Dark Promos. Those will be sticking for quite a while, if not forever. They're just about the perfect card to give away as a promo! Especially for the younger kids.

Agree completely on the other points.
