Considering that my Bears have late picks in most rounds, I'm actually hoping they take the 'Skins offer (Briggs + 31 for 6), then trade down for 2-3 more picks, hopefully in the 2nd or 3rd rounds.
We don't really have very many needs, from what I can see. Our wants, however, are incredible.
Wideout with good hands who can run perfect routes to give GRex more outs.
Offensive linemen (plural) to groom for when our tackles and guards have to leave. I'm guessing they've only got 2-3 years left in them right now.
Defensive tackle to offset the potential loss due to suspension and free agency.
Outside linebacker cuz Briggs is an idiot.
Running back who's more of a cutter compared to Benson the Bruiser.
Safety who can play with Danael Manning in case Mike Brown goes out (again).
Corner who can stay with the faster wideouts. Peanut and Vasher won't have career years twice in a row.
See? Not too many needs. a LOT of wants and "picks for the future". I *really* hope Briggs isn't an idiot and stays with the Bears for that 7.XXX million for the year. I mean, that's more than he'll get in almost ANY long term contract negotiation. I still think he was stupid for putting down that 6 years 33 mil he was offered last year. I'd be surprised if the Bears offered much more than that after this year, quite frankly. I think the most the Bears will offer this guy is 5 years 35 million. He's a good player. But, he's also in a system that uses his talents perfectly AND he plays next to the most dominant MLB in the league today.

Colts needed a DT, a CB, and a LB with Paul Posluzny, Chris Houston, and Alan Branch still available and they pick....Anthony Gonzalez????? This will come back to haunt them someday....

Day 1 Bears review:
Well, they took care of 3 larger wants. Picking up a TE with good hands and speed pretty much amounts to getting a wideout, IMO. I'm a little upset that they didn't do the Briggs for 6th, then trade down thing, but it wasn't bad what they did with that pick. He probably won't start this year, but he'll be the #1 backup to Des Clark, and Gilmore will probably be the first down blocking end. Either that, or Olsen decides that blocking is a great thing and becomes something resembling an every down end for this team. Either way, nice first pick. I think he'll get somewhere in the range of 30 receptions, 300-350 yards, and 2-3 TDs this season.
Second round: Beautiful trade with the Chargers there. They pick up two picks this year, and another for next year. On top of that, they get a very nice defensive end who will probably be trade bait by the end of the year, probably for a DT or OL. I personally think they should be charged for stealing off San Diego, but that's just me talking there. Bazuin helps shore up one of the most feared defensive lines in the league. He joins quite possibly the deepest store of defensive ends assembled in the last decade, and will probably produce very nicely backing up Wale on the left side. I'm thinking he'll get 4-5 sacks and about a dozen tackles playing about 10-15 snaps a game.
Third round: Excellent use of San Diego's pick!!! They get a guy who, to me, looks almost exactly like Thomas Jones, one of the most underrated rushers in the league today. Now, the Bears will have a true RB tandem, as Benson will get his wish of 30 touches a game, while Wolfe will pick up the garbage yards once Benson gets tired (which he will, I have no doubt). Also, it allows Adrian Peterson to remain basically a Special Teams specialist, where he stood out last year forcing a handful of fumbles and more than his fair share of tackles in one of the better coverage units in the NFL. Wolfe will probably get about 10 touches a game, totaling about 300 yards rushing and 150 receiving, with about 3 TDs on the year.
With the very next pick, the Bears gave a hearty "screw you" to Lance Briggs by selecting a player who is very similar in ability and tenacity. Okwo probably will not start as OLB this upcoming year, that spot will be fought over with Jamar Williams from last year's draft assuming that Briggs remains true to his word and sits out the year rather than taking the rediculous sum the Bears are offering him. He played very well against an NFL-styled offense in Notre Dame, registering 12 tackles against a very good offense. In 10 games, he averaged almost 10 tackles per game, and had over 7 tackles for loss. The Bears will likely use him in return coverage initially and force him to win the OLB spot off Williams. Either that, or Briggs comes back, and he plays spot backing up Hillenmeyer on the other side. Either way, a good grab this late in the draft.
This still leaves questions at DT and Safety that the Bears will probably need to address today. Thus far, I think they have had a pretty good draft with pieces that will likely be very good to the team either this year or a couple of years down the line.

More Bears reviews:
Round 4: Good. Getting another OL. A guard/center as well! This guy looks pretty good, starting for a full season and playing spot/rest for another couple. It's not like we're going to give up Kreutz any time before he retires, or anything like that. The rest of the line is getting pretty old, though. It's good to get another piece to plug in spot and gain experience for when the rest goes down.
Round 5: More back to back picks. Payne could play both RB AND Safety. If he doesn't make the team in one capacity, he'll probably go on in the other. That helps with two of this team's Wants for the year.
Grahm is another piece that should fit the puzzle nicely this year. Hester is not much of a corner in the Cover 2, which makes him *almost* a liability on the team's roster. According to scouts, Grahm plays a style of corner that works very well with the Cover 2 scheme. Jam the wideout at the line, release at a critical point, and cover short while the safeties cover the deep threat. Without a good 40 time, idk how fast he is. However, he's fairly tall and light, meaning that he can probably cover a decent amount of ground pretty quickly.
Round 7: More of the same from this team. Drafting for the future with a team that can win right now. McBride is a little small for a cover corner, but looks good enough to use a 7th round on and spend a couple of years developing his skills. Might become Ricky Manning's backup as the nickelback.
And, their last pick, an Offensive Tackle. Filling yet another want with yet another big guy who'se taken some punishment and dished it out as well.
Overall, I think the Bears got a pretty good draft. They filled every one of their wants except for DT, and look to have a solid, young core for when some of the veterans are forced out of the game. I'd give them an initial B and see where this thing heads in 3 years.

I think the 9ers had a pretty good draft, plus we got Jackson from the seahawks, so that's exciting. hopefuly we 'll actually do well this season!
