NFL Draft

Colts wont have a dynasty, it was really a fluke for both the colts and bears to really even get to the super bowl. But I havent seen a worthy super bowl in years, the NFL become like the new College football BCS where your best teams sit from the couch watching the super bowl.

Draft wise though you have to say Detriot and Houston really botched the draft, Detriot was horrible in the draft. Philly's winning days are over to, I expect at best an average year at 8-8 for the 07 season. Panthers goofed to, Dwayne Jarret with no Keyshawn Johnson has bust written all over it. But this is how I view the top 6 teams from each conference to go to the 07 post season:

NFC:

San Fransisco
New Orleans
Chicago
Seattle
Tampa Bay
Dallas

AFC:

New England
San Diego
Denver
Baltimore
New York Jets
Tennessee

Happy with the Niners draft, as long as Jarrett/Smith/Rice don't turn out to be studs. All guys SF could have taken in R2 instead of trading down, even though we totally took the Colts in that trade (1st and 4th rounders next year). Other than that, Willis is the best LB in the draft, I was calling for that pick the whole time and I love the move to move up and get Staley, a Tackle that will finally get rid of that bum Kwame Harris.

As for next season, it's kind of early, and things can still materialize, but I'll take a look.

NFC:
I like the Niners out of the West (bias), with Seattle a close 2nd for a wildcard berth. In the East, I think it'll be the Cowboys, with the Eagles right there with a wildcard as well. In the South, I like the Saints again, nobody else will be over .500. Chicago will win the North, Vikings will be close, but just miss the playoffs, Packers 6-10 and Lions terrible, as usual.

The "REAL" Conference:
AFC West wise, I love San Diego, despite the loss of coaches, still the most talented team in the NFL, Denver will be a wildcard team. In the East, gotta pick the Pats, again, until someone beats them. I like the Steelers to win their division, along with the Bengals wrapping up a wildcard. Finally, Indy will win their division.

What did San Francisco do in the offseason to go from 7-9, third in the worst division in football, to playoffs?

In the NFC, I don't see a whole heck of a lot of talent outside of Chicago and New Orleans, who should both win their respective divisions. The East is completely wide open, and anybody could pull a rabbit out of their butt for that area. The West just doesn't look good. Zona will never win anything. I still think Seattle is the best team there, but I really have no idea how good any team from that division really is.

The AFC is looking a LOT more fun this year. New England should run away with their division and secure a #1 or #2 spot. SAme thing in Indy, with Tennessee possibly getting the Wildcard, especially the way Young came on in the 2nd half last year. SAn Diego should win the toughest division in football, even with the massive coaching change, because they are that talented. Merriman should NOT be in football anymore, though. Unless something catastrophic happens this year, Baltimore should win their division.

Oh, and Bullet, was there any team in the NFC who played better than the Chicago Bears last year? They dominated the conference from beginning to end, and at least had a shot against Indy in the SB before Rex decided to start forcing things and they decided to kick away from Hester.

49ers is on its way to turn things completely around, they been improving the last 3 years and they got a QB ready to lead them I think. 49ers could have a good 10-6 season IMO. They got a really improved Defense after the draft and FA signings.

To answer the last question, yeah New Orleans and Philly both did.
and New England and San Diego played better then Indy did. From start to end as well.

Problem I had with last years post season it was just a complete fluke.

Seahawks beating Cowboys was a fluke, that led to Bears beating Seahawks, sadly enough another complete fluke, then Bears beating the Saints was a fluke factored in with obviously paid off referees at soldier field. Geeee!! If the Colts was going to go to the super bowl, the NFL decides lets not put Philly and New Orleans against them and jeopardize the ever popular manning winning, lets put Chicago in their, a opponent that can obviously be beat up and down the field by the colts.

Dont worry, that was last year and I been seeing those kind of antics since about 1997 now, and it gets worse each year.

it seemed like around the time the Cowboys and 49ers stopped the big winning seasons the NFL became a joke. Only comparable to wrestling now it seems.

Well The National Championship winning QB was not drafted which is really a pity and a disgrace. Where did Troy Smith go to?

Chris Leak not getting drafted wasn't really a surprise, even here in Florida. While he's a good player, he's too short and has too weak an arm for the NFL environment.

As far as my Bucs go, we were really disappointed to see Calvin Johnson go before our 4th pick. Buy, still filled a need, getting Gaines Adams at DE. With Shelton Quarles not passing his physical, Adams should be playing more sooner than later.
