I gotta contact people to get it down. It's going to hurt more people since they have to delist it after people have done bidding. But, It'll be taken care of.

Excellent. Good to know that even after lying and all that, you still have the heart to tell the truth and make things right (somewhat).

Yeah, I will. Definitely

No!!!!!!!!!!!! Dont give back anything till they ask you.

Wait for TPCI to handle things. Im sure they will send you a letter and notify you of what they ruled. And go from there, do not give it another thought.

You did nothing that at least 50 other people have not done, and you were let in the tournament. You should not have been playing, but they let you play. If you give up anything it will be because Pokemon forced you to, which they shouldn't have had to because they are the ones at fault here.

Don't listen to the haters here. These guys wanna kill you just for entering a tournament that you should not have. They are jealous and are blowing it all out of proportion.

They are haters and don't let them get to you.

Take the trophy off Ebay and get back all the prizes that you can. I doubt they will ask for them back, but if they do you will be ready.

If they do ask for anything back, please let me know, I wanna write them a letter.

I thought you already gave away the back pack and sold the 22 packs of Black and White for $30...

And the kindle that your dad took...

How you planning to get those back?

Ah you know somthing about American law, you dont admit to doing anything until you have to

i equate this to somone droping a wallet he had the choice enter and contiue or just leave just as someone would have to taking a dropped wallet

Yeah, I'll be ready for their answer. First thing's first, gotta take it off eBay

An impressive decision showing your honest regret.

However, I just want to make it clear to you that you have absolutely no legal obligation to return anything. Once they give you the prizes, it's no longer up to whether you legitimately won the tournament, but that they have legally forfeited their claim to the property and transferred ownership to you. They can't sue you.

If you are going to return it regardless, that's excellent but just be aware you are legally entitled to the prizes.

As far as i am concerned his participation in the event is blatent fraud. He lied about who he is. He proceeds to get financial gain from this fraud. Sounds like pretty good grounds for criminal charges to me. Do I think its worth the time and effort for P!P to pursue charges? No its not worth it. But if this person is in college, he is an adult and should be treated like one. Fraud is fraud. Whether its like the person here did, or someone using another person's credit card. A person is pretending to be someone they are not for monetary gain.

He didnt cheat at a card game. He lied to make money.

Participation in the event being fraud, I agree with you.

He lied about who he is ? Well...not really...It says clearly in the article "I wrote MY name down"
well, that's not fraud ? He said who he was...he lied about how involved and qualified he was...

So he didn't lie about who he was, and he didn't do it for monetary gain

We have covered him not lieing about WHO he was (different to how qualified he is) and well since no prize / money is a definite you can't really say it was for monetary gain. If someone lied about being me, came to my work for a week and did my job well they didn't STEAL that money. They lied about being me but they did everything I would have had to do for that money?

Sorry, I am not defending him but this just seems abit OTT

I would like to bring a few things to everyone's attention

He entered a tournament knowing that he was not supposed to be entered into the tournament.
Officials of the tournament ALLOWED him to play.
He came out of the tournament winning (this part is not important to the matter TBH, the important part is that he entered.)

The only part that P!P can be upset about is that he entered the tournament.
but wait...

Aydan states "Anyways, I went up to registration and wrote my name down. I told the registers that I was new to all of this and held my own league (which I do!). They said they would look into the matter to make sure I was a judge. I thanked them knowing that if I was unable to play then it wouldn’t be a big deal to me."

Now right here is where P!P is at fault. Aydan gave them fair warning that he may not be eligible and they said that they would look into the matter. Did the registration staff lie to Aydan? Did they even check into the matter? At this point, Aydan can no longer be held accountable for his entry into the tournament.

Aydan was at fault up until the point that the registers said that they would look into whether he was eligible or not.

These are just a few key points that I got from reading the article. If anyone should be punished, it should be the registers who allowed the entry.

Just my .02

Its not right. Doesnt matter how you slice it, or word it. He lied, cheated (People and time), and benefitted out of improper gain. Doesnt make it right. PERIOD!!

It's sad to see what the Pokemon TCG has become: static formats, cheaters, one-sided decks, and now lying to enter the Professor cup. It's times like this that really make me question the future of this game. Nonetheless, I vow to read, and participate much less on Pokemon TCG forum based web-sites--it just takes the fun out of building Pokemon decks.

"As a game of skill, the Pokémon TCG is enjoyed for its complex strategies, entertaining characters, and atmosphere of friendly competition. While the objective of a Pokémon TCG tournament is to determine the skill level of each player involved, our ultimate goal is to ensure that every participant has fun. It is this attitude that Play! Pokémon wishes to emphasize during Pokémon TCG events.

Regardless of the size of the prizes on the line, adherence to the Spirit of the Game helps to ensure that all participants, including players, spectators, and event staff at a Pokémon TCG event, have an enjoyable experience. This spirit should guide the conduct of players as well as the tournament judges as they interpret and enforce the rules.

The Spirit of the Game is composed of the following tenets:

Fun: The Pokémon TCG is a game, and games are meant to be fun for all parties involved. When a game ceases to be fun, players find other things to do.
Fairness: Games cease to be fun when players break the rules to achieve victory. A player should prefer to lose a game than to win by cheating.
Honesty: Players of any game should strive to act honestly while playing that game. If a player inadvertently breaks a rule during a game and becomes aware of the error before his or her opponent or a judge, that player should make the opponent and the judge aware of the misplay."

As a League Leader, Ayden knew exactly what he was doing by falsely entering the Professor Cup. By his own admittance on 6Prizes, other players/TO's were aware of his actions. All should be punished to the full extent of P!P Guidelines.

My participation in the Pokemon community as a Tournament Organizer, League Owner, League Leader, Professor, and player has been based on the positive experiences I have had over many years. For those of you whose attitude is to give props to Ayden for breaking through the system, you obviously have no clue how much of what is done at these events is done by Volunteers. I am not a paid employee of TPCi or Nintendo, nor is 90% of who you see at Pokemon events. We are people who believe in the game, love our league players, work tirelessly to support our league, promote growth of the game, increase knowledge and skill, and encourage Spirit of the game. There is no doubt why this thread has caused such high emotions. Many of us work as a volunteer for you. When people work so hard to provide a fun, fair, free, and rewarding experience for all players; only to have it violated and paraded around in front of us, the question becomes whether this is one act of indescretion by one player, or a trend that will continue based on the attitudes of those who call themselves Pokemon players. Do you know the amount of planning, effort, attention to detail, and oversight that goes in to hosting an event such as the Pokemon National Championships? Employees, PTO's, TO's, Judges, League Owners, League Leaders, and Volunteers work together to bring players an event/experience like none other. If players want to make a mockery of what has been provided to them, then I wouldn't be surprised if TPCi rethinks the whole experience. It is a shame that a handful of bad apples should spoil the whole bunch. I have many up-and-coming future Champions who look up not only to their League Leaders, but to top players with great admiration. I hope they do not take their positive attitudes, sharp thinking skills, and advanced strategies to another game because they've found that cheaters do prosper in this game.

i honestly have to say that this is one of the best posts in this thread...thank you for explaining what i and many others in this thread feel about this matter...

For those that keep saying this somehow isn't a crime:

Indiana Code - Title 35, Article 43, Chapter 4: Theft, Conversion, and Receiving Stolen Property

Section 1: Definitions
(a) As used in this chapter, "exert control over property" means to obtain, take, carry, drive, lead away, conceal, abandon, sell, convey, encumber, or possess property, or to secure, transfer, or extend a right to property.
(b) Under this chapter, a person's control over property of another person is "unauthorized" if it is exerted:
(4) by creating or confirming a false impression in the other person;
(5) by failing to correct a false impression that the person knows is influencing the other person, if the person stands in a relationship of special trust to the other person;

Section 2: Theft; receiving stolen property
(a) A person who knowingly or intentionally exerts unauthorized control over property of another person, with intent to deprive the other person of any part of its value or use, commits theft, a Class D felony.

Intent might be the one thing tricky to prove, but I would say he intended to win, take the prizes, and laugh about it later -- which is the point we're at now.

It was posted and advertised that you had to be a professor and had to have 75 or more points. He knew he needed to be a professor and wasnt. You dont consider the misrepresentation?

Never did he say he was a Professor with credentials. He simply stated that they should check into it and that it was no big deal if he wasn't.
Is he at fault for trying? Yes. Is he at fault for being ALLOWED to enter? No.

Hmm, by that reasoning, you could walk into a store, pickup what you want and walk out. As long as you don't get caught, it isn't stealing?
Anyone know what the Professor Program stands for and why there are kids judging and no deck checks. Something Mike Liesik told me a long time ago, it's the HONOR system. He said we expect our Professors to be truthful and honorable, otherwise, why have a Professor Program and cup? But our friend is not a Professor, so it's no suprise that he didn't understand that. Giving everything back would be the right thing to do. Accepting any ban without complaint would also show some honor.
This goes much further than just TPCi and Justin. This involves all professors and really the future of the Professor cup. Dan warned us right before we started that he wanted a clean tournament, and now we have this. And for the record, I lost to him in T-16, a match in which I let him take back a move in G-2 that would have made it difficult for him to win. Later, I asked the same of him and he declined. But you know, I'm happy with how i played and won a nice book bag that I'll keep with clear conscience.
As far as the staff, they know a mistake was made and I bet they fell pretty bad about it. But lying and cheating wasn't their mistake so if anyone derserves a break from flaming, it's them. Their mistake was honest.
