Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

North & East Texas City Championships 2010-2011

In relevant news, fantastic job with an OVERFLOW crowd today, Pokémom-2-4! Thank goodness for hard-working, selfless Pokémon Professors who work hard to bring you these fantastic, FREE events!

S.

THIS. You guys did a great job considering how many people showed up and the amount of space we had to play. And a great job from Christine on her first Premiere Event :thumb: I had a super-fun time, and I look forward to the next one!

The next one being Y2K of course.

This was Christine's 1st event to organize o.o

VERY nice work, thank you so much!

Who all is going to that Nats bus trip?

Yep, a player not having his rating counted due to problems that were absolutely no fault of his own sure is irrelevant. Wow.

It becomes irrelevant only after issuing his whine several times, each time being told it is being worked on. I realize that the hardest thing most of you kids have to deal with every day is whining about how long it takes Madden '09 to boot up on your Xbox 360, but here in the Real World, things, especially complex, complicated things involving computers, take a while.

Most of you self-centered, solipsistic brats walk away from these events whining about how you got donked or how that n00b decimated your rating after your crap start, after having spent the day pestering the judges with questions regarding your standings, opponents, etc., that, with a little bit of patience (i.e., waiting the 30 seconds until the pairings are posted) will be answered. Very few folks (and they're usually the same ones, event after event) even take a moment to consider what the TO and Judges have sacrificed to be there and run this event for you and then thank them for it. Trust me, the Professors are not there for the judge support - when all is said and done, it would be easier and cheaper to buy cards at your local card shop after a significant markup.

I wasn't going to respond to any responses to my post, I just was going to let that sentiment sit out there, but this "witty" rejoinder, after the day we had yesterday, just burned my bacon. I certainly hope to see you at one of my events in the near future, kwisdumb.

Nice job with the tournament guys.

Venue and location were great. Things ran smoothly despite the massive turnout.

Yeah, my sentiments exactly. Other than a slight hiccup due to venue switching, it was an excellent day, executed solidly. Between McKinney, Tom Bean, and Plano, the future of the Dallas, non-FTW Pokemon TO'ing is in very good hands. :thumb:

Eh, don't take it too seriously, Kenny: Shane's just kinda bratty due to a long day.

...I think my nephew had a lot to do with Shane's brattiness yesterday

... top 4 in each age division please when you have a chance.

Yesterday's Plano Cities had the turnout of some State Tourneys. I think the staff did very well at crowd control and judging. Christine did an excellent job of making 100 + people play the game that they enjoy in a space that wasn't expecting so many.

I had fun and my kids had fun... I even got a pretty good cheese stake at lunch @ Fred's.
Thanks guys for sacrificing your day off to put up with me and my bratty kids :thumb:!!!

Eh...Let's not turn this into the crucible, folks; instead, let's celebrate me in all of my glory.

Masters has been posted on the who/what won cities thread. I have no idea who/what won in Juniors, but I saw Jacob with Luxchomp, Brandon with Gyarados, David M with Vilegar, and some other kid I don't think I recognize.

That was Erid E with Gdos. Very polite young man, Last years Oklahoma State Champ that left his $300 plus $300 for adult travel money on the table at Nationals cause he could not go. Maybe this year he can take the bus with Christine. You will see him next year in Masters .

Lets get 2011 off to a great start

I would like to thank all the people who VOLUNTEER SELFLESLY to run these events you give up your weekends so we can play pokemon... For the most part all the people who attend adults and kids alike are awsome and go out of there way to make you feel welcome.. We all need to keep in mind this is a free event so if you feel in any way cheated or get mad for loosing at a free event rember you may need to rember how you got here in the first place it was to have fun and if your an adult it probally has something to do with your child...

With all of these large turn outs, just thought I would clarify:

There isn't a cap or a preregistration on any of the upcoming events are there?

Also, I understand that we can preregister anyway but if we do, what purpose does that serve?

Most TOs will let you know if a tournament is capped or not in the posts for the tournaments or if you ask them. I know Watauga CC's was capped, and a few others were too, I think.

Pre-regging is always a good idea though, even if a Tournament is not capped because it will give the TO a better idea of who to expect and prepare; additionally it will guarantee you a spot if the turnout is larger than the venue can hold and some people have to be turned away. I heard 20 people pre-regged for Plano, and easily triple that number showed up, which led to splitting up the entire tournament into two rooms. If more people had pre-regged, Christine probably could have got an extra judge or maybe found a larger room for us to play in.

Pre-registration is good, and everyone should do it as often as they can. :thumb:

Hey!! Sorry for the late report for Plano Cities, but first........

THANK YOU to all the players who came out yesterday! THANK YOU to all the parents who drove a lot of you players to the tournament yesterday! THANK YOU to my judges - Shane and John - who did a great job and especially to Shane who did not complain once when I asked him to move to another room with the juniors. THANK YOU to everyone who helped set up and take down tables and chairs. THANK YOU to all those who moved venues with us. THANK YOU to Birch and Fish for talking me through a couple of rulings and to EeveeLover for being my sounding board. And finally, THANK YOU to my husband and kids for all their help and minimal complaints when I start acting (slightly) crazy.

OK - here's the results:

Juniors - 19 players

1st: Anthony M
2nd: Nikhil D
3rd: Dawson T
4th: Jordan T

Seniors - 28 players

1st: Jacob T
2nd: Brandon S
3rd: Erick E
4th: David M

Masters - 51 players

1st: Johnny K
2nd: Cameron H
3rd: Josh H
4th: Ron R

Thanks again to everyone who played yesterday. Good luck next week - hope to see you there!

Christine

Great tournament, so many people. Glad I made top cut, had a blast playing robert and johnny. Hope to see ya'll in Dallas and Sherman.

And who are you Porrii Sames?

^Catfish, the guy who went 3-2 with Beedrill G

Jacob win with Luxchomp, Brandon with Gyarados, Erick with Gyarados, and David with Vilegar.

...AND I got 11th place!

P.S.

Thanks so much Christine for running such a great event!

Did you ever get that ruling between Sean/DeMarcus's Nephew cleared up (the one where they thought Sean won, and he...didn't)?
