Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Northwest Regionals April 14, 2007

Banner Day for Phoenix Games Gym

In the 3 year history of the Phoenix Games Gym we had our best showing ever in any event.
We had 4 junior players, 2 senior and 9 Master players particpate.

We had 2 junior players make the finals, Poun P. and Justin R.
and
2 master players make the finals Jeff A. and Penny A.

So we are very pleased that we were able to place 4 players in the finals of this years Northwest Regional Chapionship.

Who did best at the SMASH tourneys?

I want to know who, so I can drive to his house and beat him w/Yoshi. XP

The closest you'll get to a SMASH tourney is the fact that we were playing highly competitive games for fun and I think Zane and I were even with wins when I shut the Wii down at 11ish. The two of just handed out huge amounts of beatings (I finished with around 120 KOs, he had about 50). We didn't play under "tournament" rules though.

Instead, we played under the ever entertaining Phantom's Rules, which is 5 stock, no time limit, all items (at normal rate) and a random stage selected from all the stages (with the exception of 1 Pokemon Stadium and 1 Hyrule Temple). The best matches were the Pikachu (me) vs. Falco (Zane) matches, when we were able to elimate the competition quickly, and then duke it out between the 2 of us. I think things would have been more comical though if we had done my favorite, the Complete Pokemon Free-for-All Rules.

peace

My Yoshi and Sheik feel sad that they were not able to frolic with phantom's Pika and Zane's Falco. They need new friends. -_-

Seriously, when brawl comes out, I am SO spamming you for your Wii Friend Code, Phan. lol

You're talking about elimination rounds, Jeff, not finals =\

Awful tourney from my end, how does one run the equivilant of 8 mentor and start with it once in 6 games?

Yes by making the finals I was not refering to making the actual final match. In my mind there are two parts of a tourney. Part 1 is Swiss play where everyone particpates. Part 2 is the finals where the top players duel it out in best 2 out of 3 matches.

I'm back after calming down to say the information was bad.

How it should have been

There was plenty of room to post info on the Gameboy tournament who ever put that up is a total idiot I mean only one’s dumber is those that needed the direction’s posted especially when the location was already provided.
(Ues mapquest/Or some of thest sites for direction's)

Excuse me...If you have any problems with the GameBoy tournament, direct them to me, and don't be calling people idiots, thats just not nice to be doing. By the way, the FIRST POST of this thread said that the GBA Tourney was going to be before the main event (aka the main tournament)...heck, here is the info as it appeared in Terry's post:

Game Boy Tournament

The Game Boy Tournament will be taking place during registration...I hope to start the tournament about an hour before the "Main Event" takes place...I just have figure out when the "Main Event" will start...

IMPORTANT NOTE: I can not stress this enough, but anyone interested in particpating in the Game Boy tournament, that will also be playing in the tournament, MUST HAVE ALREADY REGISTERED and gone through DECK CHECK and anything else nessecary to play. Those running the Game Boy tournament will not be responsible for anyone who neglects to turn in a decklist before coming to play in (or even signing up for) the Game Boy Tournament.

All players must bring their own Game Boy Advance, and must have a copy of either Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, FireRed or LeafGreen.

Link Cables to be supplied (if you have one...you can bring it if you wish)

4-on-4 Double Battles
Level 100 (recommended) or lower
Any of the 386 Pokemon are permitted for use
All 4 Pokemon must be different, and cannot have a nickname of another Pokemon (no Torchic named Treecko etc.)

Held Items may be used, all Pokemon must hold different items.
Restrictions: No Wobbuffet w/ Leftovers, and NO Soul Dew

Tournament will be single elimination. Finals could be held using Pokemon XD.

Matches will have a possible time limit of 10 minutes, and the finals will hopefully have a 15 minute time limit at the most.

Prizes will be determined depending interest...

I don't appear to have left anything out of that, as that is exactly as it was posted by me in the States thread (and copied by Terry for Regionals). If anything, apparently I should have stated no cheating, as I assumed everyone would know better, but...anyways, Regionals is over, so get over it. But still, if you want to live in the past, and you have any questions/complaints about how the GBA tourney was run, you can either PM me, or post them here I guess.

Thank you Pokeplayer, BDS, judges and staff for a well run tournament. The place was very spacious and nicely decorated! Good door prizes. I'm glad you brought in the hot dog vendor and even happier that it was a fundraiser. The deck doctor is a great idea! I thought the idea of team play fun too.

Gameboy results:
1st. Clint A. from Oregon
2nd. [R] Visitor from Oregon
3rd. Cybermanetric EX from Oregon

Here are some photos of the event:
