Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Oregon State Championship - March 1, 2008

So...Oregon lost to Washington's Gardevoir...again for the 5th year in a row? Oregon lost to Gardevoir ex in 04, Gardevoir ex in 05, Gardevoir d in 06, Gardevoir ex d in 07 and
now Gardevoir SW/Lv.X this year?!?!?!?!

Way to go, Washington =D

At least an Oregonian maganed to take one of the trophies in Masters. Third place is a nice constalation prize IMO. I'll be back next week (i hope).

And I can't believe we had about 200 people at OR states. Beat that WA!

Congrats to Clint for winning!

DS tournament report:
first: Ken S.
second: Vance M.
third: Clint A.
forth: Lukie L.

Can't believe we had 42 participants in that. Great job to everyone who played. But just a friendly reminder, don't use hacked pokemon on your team next time.

Yah, I'm still venting over my dismal 5-2 bubble burst, not to mention my brother's 5th place finish, ugh so donky.

Hey Oregon Players, if you drive up to Washington Next week we just might beat it. Consider this, Idaho, British Columbia and Orgon States were all today, so next week the only State Championship in the Pacific Northwest is in Washington.... We could beat the 200 number, so come out and help us set it.

((I hope you are prepaired for the onslaught Pokeplayer!!))

Not true, Oregon won our states in '05, at least in 15+

......uhhhh......all this time, the so-called "truth" which is apparently "out there" is the fact that white guys cannot properly spell Japanese names?

I'm sorry, but The Truth Is Out There, and it really sucks.

just in case you didn't catch the joke, that's MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE. I purposely misspelled my last name. I am hoping that there's a Tyler Ninomara in Idaho. ;P

anyways, this was a great tournament. It was well run, very few delays (except for watieing for giveaways! ugh . . . ), and the competion was ridiculous!!!!

BTW, good games ted. you'll win the WA tourny for sure (by beating ross in an x-0 match!!!) ;P

WOW !!!!! WOW !!!!! WOW !!!!! WHAT AN AWESOME TOURNEY DAY

Thanks to all who came and battled.Once again the NW has proven that Pokemon is alive and well.
As usual BDS and Chris put on a great tourney, THANKS to the help from the Nelsons, Balls, Bert, Rich Armstrong, Kayhon for running a HUGE DS side event and Susan(BDS') wife. They couldn't have done it without all of your help. Thanks also to the people who helped us scramble for more chairs, re-arrainging the tables as needed and all the other "little" things that made this event run so smoothly. I'm continually amazed by the "Pokemon Family" and the helpful people I continue to meet through this wonderful game. Oh yeah and last but not least to the extra push at the end of a long day to those who helped us take down the decorations and packed them away :thumb:

Now to all the WA players: I think OR players will come in force to perhaps re-claim some of those trophy's that were taken away **fingers crossed** from us. Can't wait to see ya next week!!!!
Gotta LOVE the rivarly, gotta LOVE the game. I need another trophy

and i thought that the Cason award was really thoughtful. i am still sad when i come down to oregon and remember that I wonm't be able to see him with his rogue decks.

and on a more happy note, OR will NEVER win the OPTWOBFNSNSBN. it's a given fact. ;P

We were BLOWN AWAY! We had the room set for 156, figuring we might have an increase from the 138 we had last year. We knew something was up when the 150 promos I'd given to the deck checkers ran out at 9:25 (registration ran from 8:30 until 9:45). I quickly gave them the remaining 20 promos we had, and they were gone about 5 minutes later. The line was far from gone however.

Luckily the venue had some extra chairs which they had stored in the hall we were in, so we had then come ulock the storage room and we started adding chairs to the Junior tables. That was our backup plan, squeeze in a few more chairs in Juniors since we had 8 foot tables and only set 3 chairs per side.

We knew we were in trouble when the registration table said "do you have any more registration slips" - I had printed 200. We kept squeezing in chairs until all but one table had 4 per side. The room was now set for 200, the line was dwindling at the deck check tables and we were only a half hour behind schedule.

The final numbers ended up as follows:
Juniors - 57
Seniors - 45
Masters - 97

For a grand total of 199
I think it was the best tournament we've ever had in Oregon (certainly the largest). The staff was first class, doing everything that needed to be done without me even asking. The players in the NW are the BEST in the World. We had less than 2 dozen drops for the entire day. People were yelling just as loud at round 6 as round 1, even though they had been there for about 7 hours at that point. We gave away tons of cool Pokemon stuff and had many parents express their appreciation. (I know the giveaways are boring for some of you that have all the Pokemon stuff you will ever need, but when I see the excitement generated when Chris rolls those dice I gatta say we're going to keep doing them) And finally, the 2008 Cason "Spirit of the Game" award was a wonderful way to honor a very special youn man's memory. It was so moving that his family attended and his sister presented it.

I'll be on a Pokemon high for weeks, and I'm already looking forward to April 12th!!! The words thank you can't really express what I feel, but THANK YOU!

BDS

Yeah, OR states maybe the most amazing tourney in the world. I'm still trying to calm down from everything that happened yesterday. We got great judges and volunteers. And Congrats to ilikegengar for winnig the Cason "spirit of the Game" award. What a cool award.
Ya know, I think we would've broken major ground if States lasted until midnight. I won't be surprised if that happens at Regionals with 350+ people.

It was a great idea to have the Cason award and ilikegengar totally deserved the award! It was a great and well-run tournament. I wasn't really expecting that many people attending Oregon States. I can't wait till Washington States and Regionals in Oregon.

Yah, it really was.

That was awsome guys, most fun ever! How did Zane get to the finals!?!?! I'd have loved to see him play, such a killer deck! Can't bieleve jeremy didn't get in finals though  Does anyone know who played who for quaters, semi's and finals?

Poor kayhon for losing. You should try torerrible again XD Oh and to everyone else who got a 4-2 or higher record and was left out of top 8, losers of the system :x Atleast Washington didn't get ALL the tops. That would be just sad. How could Ben and Kayhon give the 1st place to Warshington >.< Not like i'd have done better XD. Hope to see everyone at regionals! Let's have Oregon take the home court advantage to first in 2/3 diviosons atleast!

Heh, Mario going 4-2 *shakes head in wonder*
