I'm sure this is probably not the best time to suggest this, but ..... you did keep a copy of all documents didn't you? Anything you signed can be considered a contract .... if you get my drift. This may not be enough to help out at the moment, but still enough to give hope.

If it went better for Belgium last year, that might simply be because Los Angeles is a much cheaper travel.

Eskil, keep in mind this LD did not provide ANY support towards the game. They did not provide boosters at tournaments, those had to be paid out of the entrancefee.(so the players funded their own prizes)
And on the same time they got the "head bounty" for each player attending.
Sorry but I counted at least 350 entries, which is already enough bounty to give each winner that €1000 and it will have costs at that point NOTHING for the LD.



I agree Hawaii is not the best choice moneywise, it's toooo expensive.
 
not as much difference as LA.

a ticket belgium LA was about 800€
a ticket belgium Hawai is 962€
and I can know it.

It clearly says that they won a ticket,hotel and parents-ticket.
Than you can see how you can --play--with our kids.

Steve can wonder about that via PM or on a private board. Here, in this thread, he could show a little compassion. How would he like to win Nats and then PUI says, here, we MAY pay you back some when you return from Hawaii, save your receipts!! GL with that invite and tri.......err....GL!/ end sarcasm

seriously, I know Stephen and his Dad. They are good peeps, but you know better than to act like this.

Keith buddy, I seriously wasn't trying to act like anything. I asked a legitimate question that I would like to know the answer to.

Asking on a private board such as TR or Lafonte doesn't get me the answer, and I would have much better odds asking here than PMing the OP.

So you people need to chill out.

You guys are jumping over somebody for nothing. It's not like he said "Pffft who gives a crud?! I want more invite opportunities!" All he did was ask questions that are on everyone's minds, especially people who already paid for their grinder trip (don't know if Squirtle falls into this category, but I have friends who do).

But anyways, I don't really have an opinion unless I know what the distributor advertised the prize. If they said up front that the 1,000 Euros would be the prize, then I hate to say it, but you're out of luck :(. However, if they just suddenly decided to only offer that stipend (which your post seems to strongly imply), then I agree wholeheatidly that something needs to be done, so long as it doesn't take away from any other rightful trip winners (for example, the stipend shouldn't be "switched" with a ranking trip, but rather it should be upgraded to full trip status).
 
so why take the thread off-topic with the 'question' when it could have been asked in it's own thread, thus avoiding completely the appearance that some players were looking to capitalize on the misfortunes of the european players?

Yeah, I'm pretty sure every player in the world is wondering what would happen to the invites. The situation that the winners were placed in is horrible, but I'm not sure how much Squirtle would be able to do about it. The part which does affect him is the invites that would go to the grinder.

But maybe you should hire somebody else to ask those kinds of questions, Steve.

Or just stop trying to go to worlds.

Thats it guys, I'm done trying to go to worlds. It's not like I plan on flying out to the grinder if I dont make a trip or anything.
 
From my point of view, I think that whoever doesn't go to worlds should have their invites placed in the grinder. I know it's not going to happen or anything, but it would make a lot of sense in my opinion, so whoever couldn't make it, another person would have a shot.

And all Steve was doing was asking a simple question, that's all.

Yeah, seriously, it's not like we've been saving up all year, knowing that invites were going to be a crapshoot, and it's not like we've been looking forward to a week/end in Hawaii...

I don't understand why everyone (see:some) on these boards think that every time someone posts a queston or comment they might not have posted that it gives them the right to accuse people of not being compassionate (or various other things).

As far as "asking it on its own thread" -- how many times does the PokeGym staff lock threads for being duplicates?! Oh um...only all the live-long day!

So, can you really blame Squirtle for asking a question about what happens to unused worlds invites in a thread that is about potentially unused worlds invites?!

And as far as being on-topic...what the heck is the topic of this anyway? The title of the gosh darn thread is "Outrageous and Unfair!"

I think that IS going to happen. If worlds has a field of 64, are we really going to have an event wit 59? That doesn't make a lot of sense. Then again...
