Plasma Storm Card Quality?

Just because they are the same size doesn't mean they are not printed with different material. I felt a difference as soon as I touched one of their cards and I go through cards daily. I think they are going with a more plastic substance than cardboard.

Yeah, I'm not seeing the "proof" of the cards being the same thickness either. You can make a brick out of many materials and it'll still be the same size with different weights, textures and properties.

If they're making the cards out of plastic like material shouldn't they be water proof?

I could feel a paper weight difference for sure, they feel much more flimsy like they are more prone to accidental creases.

Also, I just bought three packs today and got two Torterra, one of them had a black dot on the boarder and parts of the boarder were already showing white. So I checked the other one to make sure it was okay and... there was a black dot near the attacks. :frown: Very unlucky today

How do they compare to Japanese cards? I heard from my friend who went to a pr that they were similar.

Definitely not IMO. For onc, I feel Japanese cards have an additional clear coat or something that makes them glossier where us cards (plasma included) are much more matte. I also didn't notice any of the center flexing noted above in any of my shiny collection cards.

Maybe weigh 50 commons from a previous set and compare to the weight of 50 commons of this set?

^^ Just to try to figure out the cause of the difference. Scientific exploration.

I weighed 50 NXD commons and 50 PLS commons. It was like 80.1 grams vs. 80.3 grams. Yes, the PLS were slightly more. But it's so close that I'd say the weight of the cards were the same, so that doesn't explain the difference in feel.

Just got some blisters from Wally World, and the quality of the cards seems to resemble BCR. So either a different batch, or there's some credence to the card storage thing *shrug*

Bought 2 boxes and guess what? The have the same quality of printing as BCR. It was probably only the prerelease scans that were flimsy.

I pulled two different prints of fa colress. One with the wavy texture one without. Did any one else get a no wave textured colress fa? Trying to confirm. As misprint

Ever check the printing date on the bottom of the card? If so, how long do you think that card was in storage, under heaps of other cards, in a box that might be under at least 10 other boxes, each box weighing about 15KG.

^^ I can't imagine the scenario you are trying to describe? Cards stand on edge in boxes, thus no pressure on the face of the card.

Worst case scenario would be a Colress FA at the bottom of a stack of other cards during the production process....say a tower of 1000-5000? Even then it woudn't be sitting long enough like that to many any difference due to deformity.

A friend of mine has a FA Darkrai where the wavy texture is misaligned. It's likely yes, your card is an error that didn't get the texture applied at all. Hard to know how many of those exist, but it sounds rare.

I opened a pack tonight, and I noticed a significant difference in the quality. They're so much flimsier and it takes next to no pressure to wrinkle and dent it!
