More than 47 million counterfeit products seized worldwide in past 16 months

    BELLEVUE, Wash.‹April 7, 2008 * Pokémon USA, Inc., a worldwide leader in
trading card games, today announced the results of recent anti-piracy
actions taken in cooperation with Nintendo of America Inc. to combat the
production and distribution of counterfeit Pokémon® Trading Card Game
    products.

On March 26, law enforcement officials in New York raided seven stores known
to be selling fraudulent Pokémon Trading Card Game merchandise. Thousands
of products were seized and several arrests were made. In early April, one
action at a production facility in China secured nearly 1.2 million
    counterfeit cards and investigations continue.

During the past 16 months, more than 47 million counterfeit products have
been seized at production facilities in Thailand, Singapore, Poland, Italy,
the Czech Republic, Australia, and China. One seizure in China in 2007
netted more than 26 million illegally produced cards. Nintendo and Pokémon
will continue to target the retailers and manufacturers trafficking in
    counterfeit Pokémon product.

³Pokémon wants to send a message to importers and producers that we will not
stand for the distribution of fraudulent Pokémon product,² says Pokémon
spokesperson, J.C. Smith. ³Pokémon is committed to ensuring our fans receive
the quality product they've come to expect.²

Bout Time. I just had a girl come play at league with an OBVIOUSLY fake Torterra lvX, then not believe me when I told her it was a fake card.

I hope this nonsense is stamped out, and that the idiots who participate in it pay PUI the PUI face value for every pack that they (the counterfeiters) make.

That'll teach these dummies not to mess with us. No fakes. Not now, not ever.

Seriously about time, over the past 2 weeks there had been a bunch of pirated booster boxes being sold on E-bay. Hint, if the shrink wrap doesn't have the holographic pokeball don't buy it.

We've had quite a number of junior players show up with fake cards, so our league's fake card collection is something not to be proud of. My league leader only keeps several fake cards just to show the kids what to look for in counterfeits.

There have been a lot of fakes recently. At the past few prereleases over half of the juniors had counterfeits. I spent 10 minutes arguing with one junior that his GREEN Skitty and WATER Charmander were fakes, and thus were not worth a TSD. I am glad that these people have been caught.

Wow I should stop playing pokemon for the good of all people. Every time I've ever started up playing I hear news like "ohsnap bajillions of counterfits everywhere"

    It's kind of depressing =P

It's great that they're doing that. At the local league, there's always a kid or two trying to trade some funny Lv.Xs to the new players, for cheap, too. I hate the fact that no one actualy stops them, or even cares, for that matter.

Please tell me this is only a big announcement and that they've hopefully always been pursuing counterfeiters...

    But yeah, good job!

well, that's one reason my rule at my league is that all trades during league hours have to be approved by me before they're final. that way i don't have kids trading for worlds' deck EXs the same as pack EXs, for fakes, etc...

PUSA takes a prize against counterfeiters, yay!

I am continuing to get reports of a store selling fakes within 2 minutes of my league. If I walk in there and purchase cards and discover they are fake, should I tell the manager or should I mail them to PUSA? The store has already been told by atleast 1 of my league players that cards they are selling are fake. They refunded his money but appear to still be selling them.

I got 2 counterfeit Magmorter LV X's off E-Bay.... and he knows an outfit out of California that's selling them in bulk.... My bad for buying them, and the guy I bought them from was clueless and refunded without question.... But I can get detail if PUI is interested.....
