Pokémon CaC Contest: Constant Expansions - Second Round Begins! Cards due June 21!!!

I don't entirely like how a Poké-Body is disabled by Special Conditions. Nowadays, they just say, "any Special Conditions" rather than listing it out.

"Heracross does 20 damage to it." really should be "Heracross does 20 damage to that Pokémon." The body is what stops working, not power.
TOTAL: 46/50 92%

AVERAGE: 46/50 92%

I would like to point out that there have been dozens of Pokémon with Poké-Bodies that have used the exact phrase "This power stops working if [Insert Pokémon Here] is Asleep, Confused, or Paralyzed." This is because 1) Lower-Case power can mean either Poké-Power or Poké-Body, and 2) it makes sense for abilities that require the Pokémon to have active control of itself to be shut off by Sleep, Confusion, or Paralysis but not Poison or Burn.

Of course, if you wish to arbitrarily ignore the standard used by PCL, I am certainly willing to accept my grading as-is.

Are we done grading? can we move on? I do know that end of courses and finals are coming up, but so are BR's and nats... Just getting a guesstimation of time...

Eevee Lv. 8 - 40HP - {C}
Basic Pokemon
Picture: Eevee is sitting next to a fireplace, laying like a dog would. It's asleep, and a child is sitting next to it.

Poke-Body: Energy Evolution
Whenever you attach an energy card to Eevee, search your deck for a card that evolves from Eevee and put it onto Eevee to evolve it. Shuffle your deck afterwards.

(.) Smack 10

W - {F}+10
R - {-}
RC - {C}

Glaceon Lv.X 100HP - {W}
Level Up - Put onto Glaceon.

Picture: Glaceon is lunging out the front of the card, ready to attack.

Poke-Body: Intense Blizzard
Whenever your opponent places a Pokemon onto their bench, place 2 damage counters on that Pokemon.

{W}{W} Mystic Ice
Choose one of your opponents Pokemon. This attack does 10 damage to that Pokemon for each energy card in play.

W - {M}+30
R - {-}
RC - {C}

Eevee:

Picture: 7
Too short
Powers/Bodies/Items/Attacks/etc.: 15
Another Energy Evolution Eevee? Seriously? It is a Body, so it is a forced searching of the deck, which would be terribly inconvenient if you didn't want to do it, and the type is not specified, as with the other powers of the same name.

Use é, "energy" should be capitalized, your line of text for evolving Eevee is incorrect, as it should say " Put that card onto Eevee. (This counts as evolving Eevee.)". Should be "afterward", not "afterwards."
TOTAL: 26/55

Glaceon LV.X:
Top stats: 5
Picture: 5
Way too short
Powers/Bodies/Items/Attacks/etc.: 20
Mystic Ice is completely broken. It's like Leafeon, but does 30 less damage, can snipe, and includes your opponent's Energy cards. That is insane.

Bottom stats: 5
Grammar: -5
Use é, use put instead of place, "their" should be "his or her", "bench" should be capitalized, should be an ' in "opponents", "energy" should be capitalized.

charmander, I HONESTLY forgot about this contest. Is late submission OK?

EDIT:pinsir Lv. X -100HP- [G]
Level Up Put onto Pinsir

PICTURE Pinsir is charging to the right out of the frame, body tilted and pincers opened. His left arm is pulled up adn his right down in a run. He is looking at the viewer. A greenbackground with shredded tall grass.

Poke-Body Intense Spirit
As long as you have no Evolved Pokemon in play, ignore any attack clause that would prevent Pinsir from using an attack.

Poke-Body Dominance Aura
As long as Pinsir is your Active Pokemon, no more Level Up cards may be played.

Poke-Body Unwieldy
If Pinsir would Knock Out any Pokemon with a maximum HP of 60 or less, that Pokemon is not Knocked Out, and that Pokemon's remaining HP becomes 10 instead.

Budew Lv 6 Hp 40 [G]
Basic Pokémon

Poké-Power: Baby Pokémon
Once during your turn (before you attack), you may put Roselia from your hand onto Budew (this counts as evolving Budew) and remove all damage counters from Budew.

[G][G] Repeat Absorb
Move a number of damage counters from Budew to the Defending Pokémon up to the number of [G] Energy cards attached to Budew.

Weakness: [R] +10
Resistance:
Retreat: [C]

Picture: Budew is bouncing along happily through a grassland on a sunny day. There is little else to note about the picture.

Tect: Virtually all of Budew's attacks inflict status or steal HP. If not prepared for, it can be a difficult Pokémon to KO, especially for starting trainers with water Pokémon.

Roselia Lv 26 Hp 70 [G]
Basic Pokémon

Poké-Body: Grass Roots
If Budew is anywhere under Roselia, Roselia may use any of Budew's attacks, Poké-Powers, or Poké-Bodies as its own. Each of Budew's attacks cost [G] more to use.

[G][C] Anchor 30
Until the end of your next turn, the retreat cost of the Defending Pokémon is [C][C] more.

Weakness: [R] +20
Resistance:
Retreat: [C]

Picture: Roselia is staring at a picture of a Budew. It can be assumed that it is the Budew in the picture.

Tect: Roselia's assortment of grass-type attacks can make escaping it a difficult task. Being a Pokémon with considerable special attack, going offensive quickly is sound advice rather than failing a retreat.

Roserade Lv X Hp 110 [G]
Place onto Roserade

Poké-Body: Tied Knot
If either player wishes to retreat their Active Pokémon (except [G] Pokémon), the Energy discarded must be basic Energy of the same type as the Pokémon.

[G][C][C] Tie Up 50
Move one Energy card attached to the Defending Pokémon to one of your opponent's Benched Pokémon. Then, select one Energy card attached to one of your opponent's Benched Pokémon, and move it to the Defending Pokémon.

Weakness: [R] x2
Resistance: None
Retreat: [C]

Picture: Roserade is planting its arms into the ground and making many vines pop up on both sides of it. The vines extend outside the card image.

Budew:

Alright, to quicken things up, I'm going to eliminate two people, and give some rewards to two people.

I'll start with the winners.

Back to back posts merged. The following information has been added:

NidoPrince scored a 94, and Godzilfirefly scored a 92. They each win a prize. Because this is the first grading round, I'll start with a simple prize of +5% in any round.

As for elimination, GlaceonFTW scored a 53% and vadrake scored a 60%. They are both eliminated. Adios. Good luck in future contests.

I'll post details of the third round later tonight.

It doesn't make much sense to count me off for something just because it hasn't been done before. That'd be liek counting me off for having a Pokemon with 3 attacks before Rocket's Mewtwo existed.

superwolfs, did your card get posted? Anyone who did not post a second-round card is automatically disqualified along with the low scorers.

The Supes, just the fact that you jammed three Poké-Bodies onto one card was a bit weird.

Back to back posts merged. The following information has been added:

It is now time to start the third round.

In this round, you will be required to choose two Pokémon to make an ordinary level and a LV.X card of. One set of cards must be advantageous against your base card set. Your base card set must be advantageous against the second set of cards.

For some of you, the cards to choose may be obvious. Because I used Charizard, I am going to use Blastoise and Venusaur. For others, you may have to think. If you want to be really complete, you could have one of the sets have an advantage over the other set.

Here's the example cards:

Venusaur LV.43 140HP [G]
STAGE 2 - Evolves from Ivysaur

[Venusaur is settled under a tree. Its eyes are half-shut. You can see Venusaur from halfway between a bird's-eye view and a closeup. The tree trunk is located behind Venusaur. Venusaur's leaves are drooping slightly, as Venusaur is preparing to go to sleep. It is nighttime.]

[G][G][C][C] Vine Control 50
You may move 2 Energy cards attached to the Defending Pokémon to your opponent's Benched Pokémon in any way you like. This attack does 20 damage to your opponent's Benched Pokémon for each Energy card attached to it in this way. (Don't apply Weakness and Resistance for Benched Pokémon.)

VENUSAUR gets most of its energy from the Sun. At night, it has to rest quickly, due to the lack of sunlight.

W - [R]+30
R - [W]-20
RC - [C][C][C]

Venusaur LV.X 160HP [G]
LEVEL UP - Put onto Venusaur

[Venusaur steps out of the picture with its left foot. Its mouth is hanging open in a scowl at you. Venusaur is ready to fight! Stun Spore can be seen flowing out of Venusaur's back. The powder holographically decorates the upper potion of the card.]

[Poké-POWER] Intense Sunlight
Once during your turn (before you attack), if Venusaur is your Active Pokémon, you may flip a coin. If heads, discard 1 Energy card attached to the Defending Pokémon. You may only use 1 Intense Sunlight Poké-Power per turn.

W - [R]x2
R - [W]-20
RC - [C][C][C]

Blastoise LV.43 140HP [W]
STAGE 2 - Evolves from Wartortle

[Blastoise is on a beach. The water is on the left, and the sand is on the right, with the shoreline cutting through the middle, with the horizon appearing 3/4 of the way up. It is poised hiding behind a sand dune. A Squirtle can barely be made out at the top sandy corner, appearing to be looking for Blastoise.]

[Poké-BODY] Standing Guard
As long as Blastoise is your Active Pokémon, prevent all effects of attacks, including damage, done to your Benched Pokémon during your opponent's next turn.

BLASTOISE has nearly unstoppable water cannons at its disposal on its back, in addition to its rock-hard protective shell.

W - [G]+30
R -
RC - [C][C]

Blasoise LV.X 160HP [G]
LEVEL UP - Put onto Blastoise

[Blastoise leans out of the picture with a tough-guy attitude. Its hydro-cannons spike out of the picture with its head. One of the cannons even fires a stream of water at its name. The background is a watery blue.]

[W][C]

W - [R]x2
R - [W]-20

Work in process to finish later.

The deadline is three Sundays from now, on June 21st, at midnight, Central Time.

The rubric will be the same. However, there will be an additional 50 points for how well your card matches up with the other two sets. I'm looking for an advantage, but be sure not to make the cards be unstoppable against each other.

You guys are going to have to do some thinking for this. Good luck.

But before that, they had at 2 attacks. This is skipping from 1 to 3.

For verification...what you want is for us to make the Paper and Scissors in a 'Rock, Paper, Scissors' situation (assuming our Base set is the Rock,) right?

Pretty much, but Scissors don't necessarily have to beat Paper. It's just better if it does.

You don't get it, do you NidoPrince? The other two cards aren't supposed to combo with your first card. One is supposed to be a counter to it, and one is supposed to be countered by it.

Looking back over your cards, I see that you made a typo on your Charizard LV.X. FAIL.

You mean the [R] Weakness and [W] Resistance? That's just copied from Venasaur, and he'll edit it soon. He didn't have a chance then.

Question: Are we allowed to edit our posts until the deadline? I've got one set more or less done and working on the second but would like to be able to edit if some things come up in working through things. Thanks for any info!

~Cardz.

Just checking on this. You want us to make 2 different sets of cards, one countering and one being countered by our base card?

For example, since my base set is Raichu, I would make a Gyaradose line and a Golum line?

Just want to make sure I'm doing the right thing before spending anytime working on new cards. :p
