News: It must be timely. It must have a source other than another Poke-fan site. A news site, an official Pokemon site, some other major source. Images are very desirable, but again, not lifted off of another fan site.

Articles: They must be well written, interesting, and have good spelling and punctuation. This is official content, not just random posts. Again, images are desirable.

Decks: We have a format. Check out the existing deck articles to see what we want.

Pokebeach already covers news, and a lot of the time it doesn't get it until somebody finds it and posts it on the Pokegym. The OP age group changes and the tournament structure changes were confirmed here first. There were rumors on Pokebeach first, but Kevin 89 posted the link to the confirming site before it was on any other open-to-the-public site. Just one example out of many. If you really want to be on top of news, simply affiliate yourself with Pokebeach (you may have done this already, but I wouldn't know it, which means that even if you had a link to their site up, you wouldn't truly be affiliated with them).

Articles and decks are already being posted. Some of the Featured Article section deck reviews that people posted haven't been moved to the Archetypes section, and it's been months and months and months (you've either forgotten about them or didn't move them intentionally - either way, you're to blame). There are articles all over the place, being posted in TCG News and Single Card Strategy. "What Kind of Player Are You?"-esque stuff pops up every once in a while. I remember that article, where you were a Spike, a Jimmy, or a Bob (or something like that) from a long time ago. I remember links to some of Ness's really old posts about making yourself a better player.

But I realize you're asking for players to post that kind of stuff here before it goes anywhere else and we have to link to it. Well, that's just impossible. Sites like Lafonte have been created to share information with players deemed worthy of said information, without having to share it with the rest of the public. And there is nothing you can do about it. Lafonte-type players will argue that it's you who have driven the leetists away from the PokeGym, but they're only using that as a tool to try and get you to unban those members who deserve to be banned. That's not what I'm advocating. I'm saying that the reason Lafonte members don't post here is irrelevant. The fact is, they just don't. Accept the mediocre articles and archetype reviews that you're already getting.

As for the PokeBeach needing translators, affiliation with PokeBeach would solve that. But even without PokeBeach, Bangiras, a member of the PokeGym, posts spoilers for each new set that comes out in Japan as quickly as she can manage. On this board (this board being PokeGym). Why do you need translators? She's already volunteered, and diligently doing the work each time a new set comes out! =/

I'm not a member of Lafonte. But I don't share my ideas with the PokeGym. I'm just as guilty of leetism as any member of any exclusive board. I used to type of little articles now and then. Search for "Taking the 'counter' out of 'Countergym'." (something like that) using the search function and you'll find an example of what I used to contribute. I'm done with that though. How can you make people with a mindset similar to mine share what they have to offer? This is obviously rhetorical, because the answer is "you can't."

Perhaps, in rebuttal to this, you'll answer that you aren't interested in having Lafonte members post their stuff on the PokeGym. Who's going to do articles, then? Ordinary members? That's what you've been getting. Regular members are constantly putting their stuff up. So what are you really asking for when you say you want deck reviewers and for people to submit articles to the PokeGym (believe it or not, this one isn't rhetorical - what are you trying to accomplish by asking for what you're already getting? It's baffling).

The PokeGym is fine the way it is. Maybe ignorance isn't bliss, but it isn't necessarily detrimental, either. Not in this case, to be sure.

Let's get some things clear:

#1: A lot of good players don't post decks on the pokegym. Why? Well one is that there's a lot of them banned from the pokegym.

#2: What incentive do we have to inform the pokegym of decks and how to build them? Where is the benefit for us?

#3: "Good players won't care if their deck is copied." Are you joking, people?! There is, sadly, a lot of luck involved in this game. Someone can be an amazing player, but lose to a deck, not necessarily the player. If the few deck builders in the game shared their decks with everyone, then we would have even more games decided on deck matchups.

#4: "But shouldn't everyone have the right to know what's good?" No! You should have to put forth the effort to come up with a good deck (or at least converse with other players), strategy and develop playing skills. If someone posts a deck for you online and you copy it, what exactly are you learning? There's already enough people who don't know how to build decks for beans and win more than others who do!

#5: This season is great for the game because people aren't going to be able to copy a deck, win one event and qualify for Worlds. Way it should be, people.

Trying to keep this on topic, those things have a lot to do with why you don't see a lot of decks on here, and you probably never will (heck, there hasn't been much good deck discussions on any board for a long time).

I have not read the whole topic but I am willing to help in translating stuff into spanish if there is interest for that.

I stand corrected about needing Translators. I had not seen Bangiras' post at the time.

Here's a though I had yesterday but didn't post:

The gym is expecting different content. They are wanting a change.
The gym, however, is unwilling to make any change themselves. No change in moderation style, or unbanning, or rewards, ANYTHING is being done.

Now, how can you guys honestly expect or want change, but at the same time remain so static in policy?

Let kettler and I fix up the deck strategy forum.

I'm down to write. I'm releasing something soon considering the anniversery of SMP is coming. I'm certain I'm playing this season so I'll conjure up something nice.

Edit: Chuck has had more World Championships than I had wins at Nationals.

We've gotten some great contributions over the past few days!
Thanks everyone.

And remember, we don't need everything all at once (except news, of course :D), so don't feel you have to get something written in the next couple of days.

If you need time to work on something, or need to take time, that's great too. We'll still need articles as time goes on.

'Pop - If you're getting too many articles, what you could do is publish 1-2 a week (every sunday or whatever) and save any extras for when noone submits any articles.

This way, you may be able to maintain a steady stream of featured articles.
