Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Pokemon DP6 IFDS Box Ratio

I don't think Charizard counts as a Lv.X. The guy mentioned in Master of Puppets post got 4 lv.Xs in his two boxes. Either he got lucky, and pulled 3 Lv.Xs (counting Charizard as a Lv.X) or he got the normal number and Charizard isn't counted as an Lv.X. The reason I feel it's the latter is because usually Japanese boxes are always exactly a number of Lv.Xs. I've heard of very rare cases where someone has gotten one less Lv.X than they were supposed to, but it seems in 99% of the other cases, the ratio has been the same. That was the original reason I bought my 4 boxes of DP4, because I could be guaranteed to get 2 of each Lv.X, which I did.

I'm really torn over the idea of buying the boxes for this set or not. Most of the cards I like are rare, and I only really like 1-2 of the Lv.Xs and only 3-4 of the Holos. It might be cheaper to just buy the rares off of people (or trade for them). Each Japanese box comes with 20 rares, and there are 20 rares in the set, so I'd have to buy 4 boxes just to get 4 of each. I'd be fine and dandy with it, if the two sets were split up like DP4/5 and you got 3 Lv.X in each box. But since you only get 2 Lv.X per box, I wouldn't even be guaranteed to pull a playset (2) of the Lv.Xs I do want, the few of them. And it would cost around $275 for the 4 boxes (after shipping).

This would be an easier choice if I had a job and income coming in. LOL

Ok, well today me and some friends opened up a total of six boxes of IFDS and we have now gathered that the Charizard, Charmeleon, and Charmander each count towards your total Lv X count in your boxes.
We are 100% positive on this. No questions asked.
I think its kinda lame that even the Charmander reprint counts towards your Lv X count.
Something about the Charmander, Charmeleon, Charizard, and Lv X's, is that they changed how the card feels. It has a 'laminated' feel to it. They also have somewhat of a sheen to them. It's kind of hard to explain over the internet, but if you saw/felt the cards you would know exactly what I mean. They definitely changed how what they used to make the Lv X's and Char's.
The "shining" Pokemon, like the Voltorb, Duskull, Drifloon, and Dusknoir, were also fairly hard to come by. There were only 2-3 at most per box, if even that. They were pretty hard to pull. The Lv X pulls were 3 per box, with a couple only getting two in theirs. So the "shining" Pokemon were just as hard to pull as the Lv X, but didn't count for the overall Lv X count.

We will be receiving three more boxes of IFDS tomorrow, or Thursday at the latest, so I will be sure to post my pulls for sure, and the other two boxes if I can.
Altogether, Utah will have 9 boxes of IFDS in one general area by Thursday at the latest. So we will probably have the most knowledge about how the boxes work. Seeing as how I'm really the only person out of us that frequently posts, I will let everyone know what we find.

Back to back posts merged. The following information has been added:

charizard counts as a Lv.X? Wow.

Now I just know I'll get Heatran Lv.X and a freakin CHARIZARD in my box. >_>

Better than getting a Heatran Lv. X and a freakin CHARMANDER in your box. lol

Thanks Master of Puppets for the information! Charmander-Charizard counting as Lv.Xs is VERY lame.

Each Japanese box comes with 20 rares, and there are 20 rares in the set, so I'd have to buy 4 boxes just to get 4 of each.

Arent there 2 Rare in every booster ?

each pack with a holo rare and 2 regular non foil rares. but its all not set also liek 1 of each per box. might take more than 4 to get 4x each holo. aside x

My DP4 box was like that, so it's been around since then, at least.
1 foil, 2 rare, 3 uncommon(?), 4 common(?), 1 energy.
I really like how the Japanese have their packs. I have more basic Metal and Dark energy than I could get with American boxes, and it doesn't subtract from the total card in pack count like ours do. I hate seeing basic energy in American packs, but in Japanese packs its all good! lol

How did I not notice that with my DP4 boxes?

I agree with you on the JPN packs. They are much nicer.

Okay, so you would get 40 rares in a box of JP6? That might be the thing that makes me want to buy DP6 now.

I just opened my box. Here is what I pulled

Lv X-3
1 Regigigas (yay!)
1 Raichu (yaytrade!)
1 Charmeleon reprint (counts as Lv X...)

Shining-2
1 Drifloon
1 Duskull

Foils-18
3 Sceptile
2 Shaymin
2 Regigigas
2 Torterra
2 Empoleon
2 Dialga
1 Lumineon
1 Infernape
1 Raichu
1 Mismagius
1 Giratina

Rares-40
4 Rapidash (each right after each other, btw)
3 Gengar
3 Roserade
3 Gyarados
2 Mamoswine
2 Machamp
2 Drapion
2 Stuntank
2 Salamence
2 Staraptor
2 Vespiqueen
2 Tangrowth
2 Chirum
2 Drifblim
2 Bronzong
2 Abomasnow
1 Scizor
1 Steelix
1 Tyranitar (boo...)

Kinda lame I pulled Charmeleon instead of a real Lv X or Charizard.
But I pulled some nice trainers, and the Lv X I wanted most (Regigigas) and the one that has the highest trade value between me and my friends, so that was good.
Overall I am pretty happy with what I pulled.
It could have been much worse. lol

I don't think that is going to happen kirbypopstarhero. Japanese boxes are pretty concrete on what they contain.

I'm not 100% on this, but I do believe that out of the nine boxes we have opened all of them have had at least one Charpoke in them and two Lv X's.
I think that the Shinings in the pack vary though, like I pulled two, but someone else pulled only one, whereas I think someone else pulled 3-4.

Burninating_Torchic, thank you for the information. I've been thinking about the Lv.X distribution since DP4/DP5 had the same exact distribution each box. I was thinking that DP6 could have a similar deal where there was 3 different possibilities for Lv.Xs and that one was Raichu/Regigigas, since it seems that two people got the same Lv.Xs in different boxes. But since you pulled 2 Shaymin Lv.X in the same box, then that throws that theory totally out the window.

I did the math, and there are 21 possible combinations of Lv.Xs for every box. Those possibilities are listed below. Shaymin = S, Machamp = M, Dusknoir = D, Heatran = H, Raichu = Ra, Regigigas = Re.

S-M, S-H, S-Ra, S-D, S-Re, S-S
M-H, M-Ra, M-D, M-Re, M-M
H-Ra, H-D, H-Re, H-H
Ra-D, Ra-Re, Ra-Ra
D-Re, D-D
Re-Re

Of those possebilities, I would be happy with 10 of them, or 10/21, which is pretty decent. Now, if you throw in another box, the possibilities...oh I am not even going to approach it.

i would be happy with any combination as they would prob see use locally but preferance would be heatran shaymin it would give my decks a head start when idfs comes out over here

ok i opened 6 boxes, here were my pulls

1: charizard, dusknoir, machamp ; voltorb
2: charizard, dusknoir, shaymin ; voltorb
3: charizard, heatran, raichu ; duskull, voltorb
4: charizard (ugh), heatran, machamp ; dirfloom
5: what was the wierdest box, machamp. charmander, charmeleon, charizard ; duskull, voltorb
6: regigigas, shayman, charmander.

if anyone needs charizards let me kno. lol

Well, I think that box was just a weird one. I think usually, 99% of the boxes are set in a specific way. That is why 5/6 of his boxes had 1 Char and 2 Lv.X. Weird boxes aren't unheard of. When I bought 4 boxes of DP4, one of them only came with 2 lv.Xs. The box came with a Leafeon isn't of the Leafeon lv.X.

So, I wouldn't be so eager to throw the organized set out the window. Even with super rare "weird" boxes, japanese boxes are still so much more concrete in contents than english boxes are.
