Very good chapter, coming up!

Chapter 6
"Alright, Chewpir! Let's end this!" Geraldo commanded, thrusting out his arm. "Take Down!" The freshman's final Pokemon dashed forward, ramming into Hocus, Troy's only remaining conscious Pokemon. The small yellow Pokemon fell back, defeated by the attack.
"Crap!" Troy shouted, returning the Pokemon to its Pokeball. The senior's unusually large bedroom was in shambles as a result of the battle, and his entire group of friends was huddled in the corner, afraid of being hit, as they had no Pokemon left to defend themselves.
"I did it! I won!" Geraldo exclaimed. "So...what do I do now?"
"It's up to you!" Hector informed him with a chuckle. "He can't do anything! What do you want to do? Trash his room? Call the police?"
"Let's call the police on him." Geraldo decided.
"Quite a fitting end for a bully like you, eh, Troy?" Hector remarked. "Sent to jail by one of the kids you picked on!" He paused for a moment, then continued. "Or should I say two? After all, I can't let Geraldo take all of the credit."
"Two?" Geraldo asked.
"Yes...you see, before I started skipping grades, me and Troy here were in the same class." Hector explained. "In fact, I was one of his very first victims...and I took it harder than you did. Unlike you, I didn't need help to realize what he was doing to me...I fought back. Oh, did I fight back. But I was never successful...until now." He threw a Pokeball into the air, revealing the floating, blue, metal and psychic type Pokemon, Metang.
"Tang!" The Metang cried, clanging its arms together. It sent out a psychic pulse, binding Troy and his friends with psychic energy.
"Metang has already sent a psychic message to the police." Hector informed Troy and his group. "Now let's go downstairs and wait out on the lawn, shall we? It's a pretty nice night out, and I could use a breath of fresh air."
"Hey there, baby." Stephen said in slightly slurred speech, putting his hand on Chey's shoulder.
"Stephen? There you are!" Chey exclaimed, turning to see him. "I've been looking for you!"
"I been lookin' for you too, baby." Stephen replied. "What you say we ditch these losers and go get the real party started?"
"Excuse me?" Chey asked, shocked by what her boyfriend had just said. "Stephen, are you drunk?"
"I'm only drunk off yo' love, baby." Stephen answered, putting both his arms around her shoulders. "Now let's go upstairs."
"Stephen!" Chey exclaimed, pushing him away from her. "You are drunk!"
"I ain't drunk!" Stephen responded, his state of oblivious wooziness turning into a state of anger. "Now let's go!" He grabbed her by the arm and began to move toward the stairs, pulling her with him.
"No!" Chey shouted, pulling her arm out of his grasp.
"I ain't askin' a question!" Stephen shouted. "You're comin' with me, now!"
"Leave me alone!" Chey screamed, frantically looking for help and finding none in the sea of drunken partygoers as he grabbed her arm again.
"Don't you struggle 'gainst me!" Stephen exclaimed, noticing that Chey was resisting being dragged. "Ekans, Wrap!" He grabbed a Pokeball from his belt with the hand that was not holding Chey, releasing the purple snake Pokemon, Ekans.
"Eyequus, Psychic!" Chey responded, frantically releasing the white and purple zebra Pokemon from a Pokeball of her own. Its stripes and third eye glowed as it emitted a psychic blast, knocking Ekans and Stephen back several feet.
"Grr..." Stephen muttered, shaking his head as he recovered from the psychic attack. He ran toward her, one arm positioned and ready to punch her. He swung and she ducked, delivering a punch of her own and connecting with his gut. He fell back, hitting his head on the linoleum floor and rendering himself unconscious.
"We're through." Chey said as tears began to well up in her eyes. She returned Eyequus to its Pokeball and ran out the front door, leaving the party.
"As you have all been informed, this student, David Sabel, has been found guilty of assault with a lethal weapon." Mr. Procter explained. He sat at the center of a long gray folding table, with three teachers on each side of him. On the right sat Dan, Tatiana, and Sebastian, and on the left sat three other teachers, the heads of other academic departments. The table had been set up in the gymnasium, as the rest of the building's facilities had been closed for the night. David, still watched from over his shoulder by Mr. Procter's Glion, stood in front of the table, facing the teachers. Next to him was a tall, pale skinned boy with short blonde hair and blue eyes. His horn-rimmed glasses and neat gray suit made it obvious that this Junior was a member of the school's law club, and had been selected to defend David.
"Mr. Sabel has been offered the chance to appeal to the board at any time until Tuesday, and he has chosen to do so tonight." Dan added. "Nicholas Moenck of the law club has been chosen to defend him."
"I thought my case was going to the student board!" David exclaimed, obviously outraged. "But you're all teachers!"
"It's a Friday night, Mr. Sabel." A female teacher on Procter's left responded. "Did you honestly think any of the students on the board would be available? They're all at some party tonight, and they are not legally bound to this commitment. And where do you think any student in their right mind is going to go on a Friday; a party or a student board hearing?"
"It's your own fault for asking to hold your hearing tonight." Dan sneered. Provoked, David hostily stepped forward, but Nicholas, the boy from the law club, pulled him back, aware of what the consequences would be if his client attempted to strike a member of the board.
"Just let me do the talking, please." Nicholas requested.
"Now then." The school's principal began, adjusting his red tie. "Mr. Moenck, how does your client plead?"
"Not guilty," Nicholas replied, "By reason of insanity."
"Insanity?!" David questioned under his breath. "What the heck are you thinking?"
"Just go with it." The law club member whispered back.
"Insanity?" Procter inquired, intrigued by the claim. "And on what grounds do you base this claim?"
"Just think about what he did!" Nicholas continued. "He, like every other student of this institution, was fully aware of the school's rules against violence, as well as the presence of security cameras at the stadium! Not only that, but he had absolutely no logical reason to assault his fellow student! The only possible explanation is that he is insane!"
"While his action was quite spontaneous and seemingly crazy..." Mr. Procter responded after rubbing his chin for several seconds, "...we need actual proof in order to accept your claim."
"Proof?" Nicholas asked.
"You know," Procter explained, "Medical papers. Official documents."
"I hope for your sake that you took the liberty of forging some fake documentation." David whispered into Nicholas's ear. "Because if you didn't, we lose this case. And if we lose this case, you lose your life." Nicholas gulped, his expression remaining stern despite his fear.
"I'm sorry, sir." Nicholas said. "I do not have any legal documents stating that my client is clinically insane."
"Then I am sorry as well." The principal replied, picking up the wooden gavel on the table near him. "David Sabel is guilty of assault, and is hereby expelled from Olemenun Academy." He slammed the gavel onto the plastic table, sentencing David to his grim fate.
"I'm sorry." Nicholas apologized to David as he began to walk toward the door of the gymnasium.
"Not as sorry as you're going to be." David responded, loud enough so that his lawyer could hear the threat, but quiet enough so that the faculty members could not.
"It's getting late." Matt pointed out. The group had been wandering the eastern beach of the island for hours, but still hadn't found anything.
"Maybe it was a false alarm." Jeremy suggested.
"I guess..." Matt agreed, taking a final look around before he turned and began to walk in the direction of the research building.
"Womm!" Came a cry from behind the group of retreating trainers. Matt turned excitedly, but was quickly disappointed when he saw a small, wombat-like creature with shining white fur. It had several circular black designs on its fur, but was primarily white. It had a small snout, short ears, and a short tail, and was rather fat, with large, powerful looking hind legs. It had an angered expression on its face, as if it had been agitated by something prior to its encounter with the group of trainers.
"It's just a Wombright." Matt realized, disappointed.
"Womm!" Came another cry, this time from behind a small hill on the edge of the beach. The group turned to see another Wombright appear from behind the hill, just as angered as the first. Slowly, more and more Wombright appeared from various hiding spots, and the group was soon surrounded by dozens upon dozens of the creatures.
"They're probably angry because we invaded their territory!" Elissa guessed.
"And they have every right to be." Matt thought aloud. "But if we don't do something, they'll probably try to kill us."
"We can't hurt them!" Elissa responded. "They're an endangered species!"
"Fine..." Matt agreed. "Serafimask, Flash!" He threw a Pokeball into the air, revealing the blue and white guardian Pokemon, Serafimask. It thrusted its luminescent sword into the air, causing an intense light to emanate from it and temporarily blind the army of Wombright. The group of trainers, who had covered their eyes, took advantage of the situation and snuck past the dazed Pokemon, safely escaping the ambush.
"That was a close one." Matt commented as he returned Serafimask to its Pokeball. The trainers were now a safe distance away from the clan of hostile Wombright, and were walking down a path of woodchips in a dark forest that led back to Sevorg.
"Sorry about it being a false alarm." Bobby apologized as the group approached the barren clearing where the research institute was located.
"It's not your fault." Matt replied. "Maybe Bethany will have some new information for us." He unlocked the door to the building and entered, followed closely by the other three trainers. As soon as he entered the building, he stopped dead in his tracks, noticing a trail of blood on the ground that led to the room where the scientists were gathered.
"What is it?" Jeremy inquired, unable to see what had made Matt stop. Instinctively, Matt dashed toward the room, following the trail, hoping that the worst had not happened.
It had.
"No!" Matt shouted, running over to the pile of bloody corpses in the center of the room.
"What happened?" Bobby asked as he, Elissa, and Jeremy walked into the room shortly after Matt. The walls had been painted with blood and black scorch marks, and there was no mistaking who the culprit was.
"VAMPYRO!" Matt yelled at the top of his lungs as he futiley swung his staff. "I'LL GET YOU FOR THIS!" Tears began pouring from his eyes as he hugged Bethany's dead body, holding her tight.
"Were they...?" Elissa wondered.
"They must have been," Bobby replied, "For him to be taking her death so hard..."
"That's it." Matt decided as he let go of Bethany's corpse. "We're going to Mount Rafalski, now."
"Mount Rafalski?" Jeremy inquired.
"It's Vampyro's lair." Matt explained. "It's time to end this, once and for all."
"Wha...what happened?" Stephen wondered, sitting up and wiping his mouth. He looked at his hand and was shocked to see that he had been coughing up blood. "Ah! My head hurts!"
"Finally up, are you?" A boy's voice asked inbetween hysterical laughs. Stephen turned to see the freshman he had mocked in Troy's kitchen, as well as an older boy, the latter of which was the source of the unending laughter.
"Wha...?" Stephen inquired, still confused and disoriented.
"Man, you must've been hammered!" The older boy exclaimed.
"Hey...I know you." Stephen said as he realized who the boys were. "You're that super smart kid that was a senior when I was a freshman!" He turned to Geraldo. "And you're the freshman that was getting those snacks for Troy and his group..."
"...Yeah." Geraldo replied, letting out a quiet chuckle.
"Wait...how did I get out here?" Stephen asked.
"We found you lying unconscious on the floor inside the house when people were starting to leave the party." Hector explained. "We were going outside anyways, so we figured we'd bring you out here so you wouldn't be left inside when the police showed up."
"The police?" Stephen inquired. "Why would the police be here?"
"Well, there's a funny story behind that..." Geraldo began. He was interrupted by the screech of sirens as several police cars pulled into the driveway.
"They're in there!" Hector shouted, pointing to the second floor of the house. "There's a Metang and a Magneton holding them down, those are mine! Oh, and my Sableye should be in there looking for the kid's stash, too!"
"Thanks, kid!" One of the policemen yelled back as the cadre of officers knocked down the door and entered the house.
"Wait...what?" Stephen wondered, still very confused. "What's going on?"
"Well, me and my friend here found some illegal substances in Troy's room." Hector explained, not surprising Stephen at all. "So we called the police, and here they are."
"Well of course you found illegal stuff in Troy's room." Stephen responded. "But why would you report it to the police? He's gonna kick your butt for that!"
"I don't see that happening any time soon." Hector replied with a victorious smirk. "We didn't call the cops until we gave him a thorough thrashing in a Pokemon battle. And with all the stuff we found, he's going to be in jail for a very long time."
"Whatever...so wait, you said you found me unconscious on the floor?" Stephen asked.
"Y-Yeah." Geraldo confirmed. "And it kinda looked like somebody might've punched you in the gut, or something."
"What..." Stephen tried to recall what had happened. "Wait...I remember...I was drunk...and Chey...Chey!" He began to look around frantically and futilely, remembering what had happened.
"Who's Chey?" Hector inquired, interested in the boy's story.
"My girlfriend." Stephen answered. "No...my...ex-girlfriend, now..." He dropped his head, punching the ground as he remembered the final words Chey had uttered before he slipped into unconsciousness. 'We're through.' He began to cry uncontrollably, upset at the loss of his girlfriend.
"Are you okay?" Geraldo wondered.
"Y-Yeah, I'm fine." Stephen replied, wiping the tears from his eyes and looking back up. "Damn...what am I going to do now? Chey meant everything to me, and I ruined all of that in a single night..."
"I know what it's like, man." Hector reassured Stephen. "I got expelled earlier today."
"I-I'm sorry." Stephen responded.
"Don't be." Hector replied. "I was too smart for that place anyways."
"Don't you just wish you could get away from it all?" Geraldo asked as he unexpectedly entered Stephen and Hector's conversation. "I mean, now that I've met Hector, I realize how bad my life was...all I did, every day, was wake up, go to school, get picked on by Troy, go home, do my homework, do Troy's homework, eat dinner, and go to bed...and then in the morning I woke up and did it all over again. I wish....I wish that for once, I could have some excitement in my life...that I could do something because I wanted to...y'know?"
"Man, do I know what you mean." Stephen agreed. "Almost everything we do, we do because our parents or our teachers tell us to. I wish that I could have some freedom in my life for once...and now that Chey's left me...I...part of me just kinda wants revenge. On our teachers, on our parents...on everyone."
"Noone knows what you feel like more then us." Hector responded in an unusually open and unsarcastic tone. "I got expelled by a teacher who I've been rivals with for a long time...both of us are computer whizzes...and I know I'm smarter than him, I just haven't been able to prove it. He's always been one step ahead of me...this expulsion thing is a great example of that. And Geraldo here, well, you already know who he wishes he could get revenge on."
"So how...how are we going to get revenge on these people? How are we going to escape from the monotony of everyday life?" Stephen wondered. All three boys were silent, thinking of an answer to the question.
"I've got an idea!" Geraldo chimed after several minutes of silence. "Michael!"
"Who?" Hector inquired.
"You know! The leader of Team Rocket!" Geraldo exclaimed. "Didn't you guys hear the news? He went into hiding in the mountains a few days ago! He said that he'd train any trainer that could find him!"
"Hey, yeah! I remember hearing about that!" Stephen recalled. "We could leave town and go look for him!"
"And what better way to convince him to train us..." Hector added, "...Than with the black staff?"
"What do you mean?" Geraldo asked, puzzled.
"It's a perfect way to prove my intellectual superiority over Ebipese, too!" Hector continued. "I'll hack into Olemenun Academy's security systems...and we'll steal the black staff!"
"That's brilliant!" Stephen agreed. "But it's so high up...even if you do hack the security systems, how are we going to be able to reach it and get out of the building before we get caught?"
"My Aerodactyl will take care of that!" Geraldo exclaimed.
"It's a plan, then." Stephen concluded. "When should we do it?"
"How about right now?" Hector suggested. "It shouldn't take my Pokemon more then a few minutes to hack Ebipese's lame security systems."
"Sounds good." Stephen concurred. "By the way, I never properly introduced myself. My name's Stephen."
"Hector." Hector responded, shaking Stephen's hand. "And this is Geraldo."
"Nice to meet you, Hector, Geraldo." Stephen replied. "Now then, let's get going."
"Well, here we are." Stephen announced. It had been a short trip from Troy's party to Olemenun Academy, as the three trainers had ridden on the back of Geraldo's prehistoric flying Pokemon. "There's no going back once we enter that building. Are either of you going to chicken out?"
"Not a chance." Hector answered. "Are you?"
"Yeah, right." Stephen replied sarcastically. "Hey, what's that?" He pointed down the sidewalk a little way, where two humanoid forms were visible.
"There are other people here this late at night?" Geraldo wondered. "What if they see us?!"
"We'll just have to take care of them." Hector decided, walking toward the two figures.
"Are you crazy?" Geraldo asked, having no choice but to follow his friend.
"Why hello there, boys!" Hector shouted as he approached the two men, who he could now distinctly see.
"Good evening!" One boy, who wore a large sheath on his back, responded. "Is there a problem?"
"Well, there doesn't need to be," Hector replied, "We were just wondering what you two are doing out here so late."
"I could ask you the same thing." The boy with the sheath on his back commented, losing his act of carefree innocence as he reached one of his hands up to the hilt of his sword.
"Oh, I'm sorry, was I interupting something?" Hector sarcastically asked, as the answer was obviously yes.
"Help me!" The other boy, who wore a neat suit and glasses, exclaimed, attempting to get away from the boy with the sword.
"I can't let you do that." The first boy said as he pulled the large sword out from its sheath. He slashed at the boy with glasses, barely missing. "After all, it's your fault I got expelled!"
"Now now, there's no need for violence." Hector said, releasing his Pupitar. Pupitar slammed the ground, causing a shockwave to knock the boy with the sword off of his feet.
"Thank you!" The boy with glasses, who was now successfully escaping, thanked the Hector as he ran.
"We didn't come to save you, kid." Stephen informed him. "Cubone!" He released Cubone from its Pokeball, and the small brown Pokemon with a skull on its head threw the bone in its hand at the fleeing student. The projectile hit the blonde boy in the head, causing him to fall onto the ground as the weapon flew back to its thrower like a boomerang.
"Now then." Hector began as he cracked his knuckles. "You two are jeopardizing our plans by being here this late. It looks like we have no choice but to take you out of the picture."
"Plans?" The boy with the sword inquired as he got up off of the ground.
"Well, as cliche as it is, you're about to die, so I suppose I'll tell you." Hector decided. "We're planning to steal the black staff and leave. We're going to go find Michael, the head of Team Rocket.
"Steal the black staff? Are you crazy?" The boy with the glasses shouted as he too got off of the ground. "Mr. Ebipese's security systems are..."
"Ebipese's security systems are no challenge for me." Hector interrupted.
"You're rather sure of yourself." The boy with the sheath on his back commented. "I'd like to go with you."
"Go with us?" Hector asked, intrigued.
"I just got expelled from Olemenun Academy, thanks to this nerd." He pointed to the boy with glasses. "And I'm sure you guys could use some help with whatever you're doing."
"It's better than killing him! He's innocent! He hasn't done anything!" Geraldo exclaimed before Hector could utter a witty comment, completely unaware of the fact that the boy carrying the sword was not, in fact, an innocent.
"Very well." Hector agreed after considering the proposition for a minute. "What's your name?"
"David Sabel. Swordsman and Pokemon trainer." The boy replied. "And yours?"
"Hector Lucan. Computer Genius." Hector answered with a confident smirk. Hector, Geraldo, and David walked over to the door of the building, where Stephen and the boy in glasses were.
"Hey Nick! Great news!" David exclaimed. "These boys have offered to take me with them on their little quest. And you know what that means!"
"You're going to let me go?" Nicholas asked hopefully.
"You wish." David answered. "It means you're coming with us."
"Let's do this." Stephen released his black canine Pokemon, ordering it to melt the locks on the doors.
"PorygonY, Magneton, Metang! Disable the security systems! Sableye, take out the cameras!" Hector commanded as he threw four Pokeballs into the air. The three floating Pokemon began to concentrate, each one focusing on a different system. PorygonY hacked the computerized systems, Magneton disabled the electric fields, and Metang interfered with the psychic sensors. Sableye disappeared, reappearing inside the building, unplugging the security cameras one by one.
"Wow, you've got a Pokemon to take care of everything, don't you?" Stephen commented as the five trainers walked through the doors that Houndour had opened. "Have you done this before?"
"Maybe." Hector answered with a smile. Geraldo had recalled his Aerodactyl, as it couldn't fit through the doors of the building, but he now sent it back out of its Pokeball once the trainers had gotten inside. Stephen returned his Houndour to its Pokeball, and the three trainers that had come from Troy's house boarded the large, purple-gray-skinned, violet-winged Pokemon. It flapped its massive wings, ascending to the level where the black staff was held.
"You got a flying Pokemon?" David asked his unwilling comrade.
"I-I've got a Noctowl." Nicholas replied.
"Excellent. Up we go." David responded, sending out his Scyther and getting on its back. It began to flap its small wings, and he went up, following Geraldo's Aerodactyl. Nicholas knew that if he tried to escape, he'd be easily caught, so he had no choice but to comply and send out his Noctowl.
"Do any of you have a Pokemon that can carve a hole in the glass without falling down to the ground?" Hector asked.
"I'm surprised you don't!" Stephen joked. "But yes, I do. Let's go, Nightture!" Stephen threw one of his Pokeballs into the air, revealing the black-feathered bird of prey with three glowing feathers on its head. It flew over to the glass case where the staff was stored, carefully carving a circular shape with its sharp beak. As soon as it finished, the sheet of glass that it had carved out began to fall, and it swooped down, quickly catching the glass with its talons before it hit the ground and made a noise.
"Guys, make room." Hector informed his cohorts, grabbing a Pokeball from his belt. "Aerodactyl, this guy is going to be pretty heavy, but you need to keep flapping your wings. Do you understand?"
"Dactyl!" The Pokemon confirmed that it understood with a vertical shake of its head.
"Alright. Go, Quagsire!" The blue water and ground type Pokemon materialized on Aerodactyl's back, causing the flying Pokemon to dip down a few feet from the stress of the added weight, but it quickly flew back up to where it had been, remaining strong. "Stephen, when I count to three, grab the staff."
"Right." Stephen agreed.
"One...two...three!" Stephen reached out, quickly removing the black staff from its holding place. As Hector had suspected, a small censor behind the staff began to flash bright red. Quagsire was prepared, instantly launching a Mud Shot attack and covering the censor, blinding the machine to the absence of the object it had been guarding. Hector returned all of his Pokemon to their Pokeballs as Stephen returned his Nightture, causing the glass plate that it had been carrying to begin falling once again.
"Aerodactyl, get us out of here!" Geraldo ordered. The fossil Pokemon let out a powerful Hyper Beam, shattering the glass dome above it. It followed up with a Protect attack to deflect the airborne shards of glass as it flew out of the hole that it had opened in the roof. With Hector's Pokemon back in their Pokeballs and the roof destroyed, alarms of all kinds began going off, but the group of staff thieves had already escaped from the school.
"Nothing quite like breaking into a building and stealing a priceless object, is there?" Hector asked rhetorically.
"Amen to that!" Stephen responded with a triumphant smile as Aerodactyl, Scyther, and Noctowl flew into the night, disappearing into the starlit sky.

Note: Here's an interesting bit of trivia. The first scene of this chapter (the one where Geraldo and Hector finish their confrontation with Troy and his group) originally ends with Geraldo deciding he wants to kill Troy and ordering Chewpir to kill Troy. I ended up deciding that that would be too hard to work with (why would Geraldo and Hector be calmly sitting on the lawn after killing someone?), so it was changed to them calling the police. Credit for the idea to change this actually goes to my sister.
Note: The style of Nicholas's glasses (horn-rimmed) is an homage to Mr. Bennet on Heroes, one of my favorite television shows.
