Lol nats is going to be so awesome! Let's make this one 2000 people XD

@Garch, Just paddle across the pacific ocean, then bike across the nation for nats

1. It's ONLY December and we already know the location of NATS. This means we can ALL book mad cheap and be happy.

2. Indianapolis was just SICK last year. The city had so much to do that my entire family dropped out of the main event and just made it a vacation after round 4.

3. If you are winning, NATS main event is great and there's lots of places to hop to for a quick bite between rounds.
-- If you are losing, you STILL have the time of your life because of the offering of Downtown Indy. <<== this is what makes the location so darn good.

4. ALL of the hotels are a SHORT walk from the convention center and many are, even, connected to it; you can't really go wrong.

5. Daylight seems to last FOREVER in Indianapolis during that time of year. I swear I didn't truly see darkness until about 10 p.m. each night ... LOL

GOOD CALL TPI !! Well played indeed.

Wish downtown L.A. was this lively and friendly. Yes, we all had a grand time last year. Y'all come.

Last time I was there, it looked like there were about six different downtown "areas" in the valley (downtown = group of high-rises). At least, that's what it looked like from a bird's eye view...

I didn't go last year, so I can't complain. I do hope to go this year and hopefully many years to follow. If most players fall into my category (and I assume they do), I don't have infinite amount of money or time to spend on pokemon. while I can afford a yearly vacation, I cannot justify the money it costs me to travel to the same city every year since this will most likely eat our vacation for the year. So, if it stays in Indy, I doubt I will make it every year. I'm sure it was great last year but this isn't the only somewhat centrally located city capable of hosting it. And, by all accounts, the event was awesome, surely there are other areas capable of doing as good. Like I said, I'm not complaining. But, I do hope it moves next year.

Nationals is open invite! Anyone can participate! There is also no cost associated with it other than taking yourself to the tournament and taking care of your sleeping arrangements.

Top 8 at Nationals (which is pretty dang hard...)
Top 4 from Worlds last year
Top 40 (it might change) from North America (via rating)

1. Don't lose
2. Win
3. Repeat

advice 2.0: now with more help!

Go to LOTS of low-level tournaments. People have managed ratings of 1700 just by attending loads of Battle Roads and City Championships, when the cutoff is often around 1850.

You cannot qualify for Worlds without playing high-level tournaments, simply because you need the extra points - but you're not likely to get the top cut invites, so you should play lots of low-level tournaments to give your rating a big boost, too.

For me, I'm not gonna qualify in a million years. I have to go play Grinder, which should be fun anyway.

Don't forget the winning part. And the not losing part.

Thanks. What exactly is Battle Roads and are leagues worth going to at all? I really want to attend Worlds because this year it's in my home town. Appreciate the tips !
