Mike Liesik just posted this announcement to the OP forums:

As you may have noticed, TPCi has begun running OP events for the Pokémon video games. Our goal is to develop these events into a strong OP system, with both grassroots support and large, premier tournaments. Management has decided that the Event Marketing team should lead this charge, and has created the Video Game Event Planner position to oversee all aspects of these events, including development of OP, event scheduling, and logistics. I accepted this position a couple of weeks ago, and have been working on transitioning my TCG OP responsibilities to the rest of the team.

I’ve spent the last 5 years working with Dave and Pete to develop the Pokémon Organized Play program into what it is today; one of the greatest OP programs in the TCG industry. During this time, I’ve interacted with a large portion of the community, either online or at events. It has been my great pleasure to work with you all and to see the constant growth of this program.

Responsibility for non-Premier tournaments, Pokémon League, the Professor Program, and any other items that I was working on will be absorbed by Dave, Pete and Brad until such a time as the company fills the position that I’m vacating. Please be patient with the OP team during this transition period, as there’s a lot going on at this time of year for everyone, so priorities may be rearranged to compensate for the loss of staff. I will remain available as a resource for the OP team, should they need me, but my focus will be on the video game program.

It’s entirely possible that video game OP and TCG OP will cross paths frequently, so I’m sure that we’ll have plenty of opportunity to keep in touch. I’m still a TCG player at heart, so I’ll always have a soft spot for the TCG OP program. I will continue to attend large events, such as US Nationals and the World Championships, though my role at these events will be focused on video game OP. I look forward to seeing you all there!

Congratulations Mike! You are the best bud so I'm sure you will bring a great deal of life to your new position and program. As for the opening you left behind with the TCG;this game is my passion. Perhaps I could fit the credentials with my past experiences with the game, awareness of player concerns, and even my field of study at the college level being heavily related to the people industry that Pokemon is. Just saying. :) Best of luck my good man! :thumb:

Congrats to you Mike, we will be losing an important member of the team, but our lose is the gain for the VG OP program.

Good luck in the future, we will see you around.

Congrats Mike, you deserve it as you do an awesome job all the time. Does this mean that you will no longer be the one choosing the Professor Cup (if yes which I assume, who will be incharge of this then?) and will you still continue to play in the Cup every year even though your doing the Video Games?

Congrats Mike. You will be missed. Thank you for your years of hard work. I know the VCG is better off with you on staff.

Glad that we will see you at Nats and World events.

Congrats!

It was a pleasure working the VGS with you and John last year. MAN KNOWS WHAT HE'S DOING, FOLKS!

Mike: Congrats on the new position. Your passion will make an immediate impact on the video game OP section. Glad to see that you will still be at Nats and Worlds. We couldnt let you slip away forever!

Mike: Make sure you DQ all those BAD Action Re-player people xD
hint: If they have a "shiney" everything in their team most likely they are a cheater xD

Good Luck :D

Congrats on the move Mike! You have been and remain to be a great asset to the POP community and your move to the VG Premier Events is a great decision by management. We can't wait to see what surprises you have in store for the Pokemon community ahead in the future! Best of luck!
