Darn it i have been doing it all wrong the 9 or 10 years i have been in this game. I get what i need for my set decks and trading and then give all the extras away. Anything from commons all the way up to and including ex and lv x. I am always lending cards and complete decks to people so they are able to play. I always thought you did it for the love of the game, to help promote the game and help out your fellow players. It never came to mind to do it just for i what i could get out of the game. But do it for what i could give BACK to the game. Must be the senility is getting worse then i thought. Oh wait do you hear that? It's the * *sarcasm detector exploding*:thumb:

You've always been senile. I thought you knew that already!

Anyway, I can't believe all the complaints about the last two POP sets. They are free cards you get, but yet they aren't good enough for anyone it seems. I know people are starting to worry since the announcement for next year's format is looming over our heads. Most of us believe that it is going to be DP on, but this has not been confirmed or denied at this point. I think most of the complaints stem from the fact that we will be losing a lot of vital trainers in this rotation, some of which have not gotten any sort of replacement (windstorm, Cessation crystal, castaway, etc). Unfortunately, the cuffs around the ankles of POP don't allow them to always listen to the players.

i simply don't understand why people want Cess. Crystal reprint? It hurts the game more then it helps it. Takes away stadium play. One of the better aspects of this game. Better then Cess. VS. Windstorm.

I'd like to see Magby's Sputter return - maybe as a trainer card - a Goop Gas that works until the end of your next turn. Right now Cessation Crystal is necessary in our current format as it is one of the few cards that anti-GG players can utilise. Of course Pachirisu counters CC well enough that CC won't ever be a big problem.

Right now one deck has most of the winning strategic plays and attacks open to it. If Gardevoir didn't shut off opponents powers with Psychic Lock it would be a much weaker deck. Or if Psychic Lock was like Sputter and effected you too.

Drawing cards, which you have to do to win, is either through powers or supporters - both of which advantage the GG players.

I think people want Cessation Crystal reprinted because it does hinder the format. If we don't have ways to shut down powers, then every deck that wins a tournament will be a power-based deck. Decks that don't run powers, that might be able to abuse cessation crystal, battle frontier, crystal beach, won't even stand a chance because they can't mess up the opponent's setup in any way. Cessation Crystal hinders the format, but in a good way.

- Cessation Crystal
+ Cursed Stone

There's your format fix.

I like the stadium battle better than the CC search and stick.

I do too. It's interesting that over the past couple years the "stadium" card itself has gone from a winning strategy (Desert Ruins, Cursed Stone, Giant Stump, and Battle Frontier were all components of tournament-winning decks) to a distant memory. We saw this happen last season when hand disruption hardly existed -- the opponent always had the Stadium counter because they usually had a 15+ card hand. Then, the stadium only mattered if it had an instant effect (think Giant Stump or Cursed Stone). This was much different than the stadium battle of earlier times -- you know, "locking in" a Battle Frontier to counter Pidgeot or DragTrode. Earlier this year the same thing held true (with the "instant effect" of Stadiums), but most people didn't even play stadium cards because of the fear of Cessation Crystal. Windstorm was the play. Now, with Pachirisu in the mix, people have nearly abandoned both Cessation Crystal and Stadiums. If they run anything, they may go with 2 Windstorm and throw a Tauros into their mix of starter Pokemon.

I think part of the problem right now is that the stadium cards we have in the current format just aren't that good. Placing a damage counter between turns on Poke-Power Pokemon was good (Cursed Stone), but removing weakness on your Water Pokemon isn't (Glacia's Stadium). Battle Frontier doesn't do anything against Gardevoir, Blaziken, Claydol, Magmortar Lv.X, and Typhlosion, but if we had a stadium that did the same thing against Psychic, Fire, and Fighting-type Pokemon, we'd have a great answer to the format. Since all of the new stadiums are pretty lame (Speed Stadium, Moonlight Stadium), nobody bothers playing them. Lake Boundary is the only exception to all of this, simply because putting it into play (instant effect) can mean a OHKO. It's all about the damage.

Fortunately, the spoilers for the Japanese DP5 cards reveal a couple of pretty awesome stadium cards. By that time both Windstorm and Cessation Crystal will hopefully be rotated out, meaning that we might once again see the rise of the stadium.

To stay on topic... POP sets could actually revitalize this format by the simple inclusion of a couple of good stadium cards. POP6/7 didn't, but who knows, maybe we'll see a Cursed Stone and Giant Stump reprint in POP8, as both happen to be great counters to our GG/Magmortar-filled format.

LOL! I haven't even bothered since POP 3 ended. Nothing but worthless cards and reprints. Ever since the POP cards/packs came out, I have been on the forums asking the same thing about the uniqueness of the cards. We've seen rarity issues that weren't fixed for a long time, and even now the new rarity scheme seems to be better but not fixed.

Even the majority of the kids at the leaguees throw their pop cards away after they open them, especially the POP 7's. "Too many commons and no rares!!" they exclaim. When kids are disappointed at league because they think they aren't getting anything cool or worthwhile, to me that's a red flag. I thought PUI/POP was supposed to market mainly to the kids anyways since they've expressed on these forums that they do not care about us adults, even though we have the jobs, the money, and are the ones buying the product. :nonono:

Also, when you have kids complaining, then how long do you think THEY will stay interested in coming to league, let alone being interested in Pokemon??? If they lose interest, there goes another customer and loss of sales in the stores. I'm not sure how bad things have to get before anyone opens up their eyes and does something about this thing. Granted, the alternate art is the only thing that makes any POP card more significant than the original card in the main set.... But still, that's not good enough, PERIOD.

Why can't the POP cards be more unique by having alternate attacks as well as the alternate art that we get with them?? The kids will be more excited about the cards if they are more unique, and so will your money spending collectors!! :thumb:
