is it really so weird that i opened four packs? is it really so weird that i opened any at all? not a single one of these cards will end up on ebay or sold to anyone. they will end up in my collection and decks.

i bust my butt every week for these kids to the point where i am not presented a chance to play more than a match a week. they all love me and my league. next session i will go in there and tell them/show them the new cards, and they will not care one iota that i opened some packs for myself. i give away prizes like they contain the avian bird flu, all of which comes out of my pocket. last week i gave away two handmade pokemon buttons that i made with my press, 26 rares, 57 uncommons, who knows how many commons, and let the kids play with my personal decks (gallade, honchkrow, mario, fossils, and some other, non-modified legal decks). There were three new kids, so i gave them all (and the kid who brought them) two of the leftover POP 4 packs, and one POP 6 pack.

I was excited and wanted to share the info with other Pokegym fans, so I did, and NOT ONE PERSON HAD A SINGLE PLEASANT THING TO SAY! instead people said where's the proof, it's weird (wrong) that i opened 4 packs, etc. so what did i learn from this experience? take new info like this elsewhere, where people might appreciate it and not simply put both me and the set down with their negativity.

so as to not bog down this thread, anyone who desires to still criticize me/debate my points can do so via personal message.

thanks
Appreciate all that.
I think many if not most league leaders can say similar things (allthough giving away 27 rares is above and beyond!), but bear in mind that there are hundreds of League Learers with boxes of POP7 sitting and calling their names and they're holding back on opening any of them until March 8th, when they are officially released.
Obviously many of us could "scoop" everyone on this kind of info, but we choose to respect the trust POP has placed in us.

Or atleast if you do, you dont release any info until then.

But maybe all this negativity is missing the point...

Artwork we have not seen in English

The younger league players like packs. I know that the POP6 rare issue was a big thing but from what I see at league the young players really like all these rare cards. It is the star that counts. So a serendipidous error

Even if us groan-ups get cynical. The younger players see the reward.

FWIW I don't accept the arguement that you shouldn't complain because it is free. However to complain about something that is free without looking for the positives is wrong.

Nah, I get it, and I'm really glad you're trying to be positive.

You can check on similar posts I've made about this issue to understand the competitive player's point-of-view. But let's think about it like this...

If a new league player takes their deck of POP6/7 cards to a tournament, they're going to get clobbered. Let's face it, there is more to Pokemon than Pokemon -- you know, there are trainer cards and energy. And having your Manaphy swarm deck eaten up by better decks just isn't that much fun. I remember when POP sets had playable stuff. The Rare Candy that came in one of the POP sets was extremely helpful to new players; I remember actually being able to help newer kids build decks because they had Rare Candy. Try building a decent deck out of POP6 Pachirisus and POP7 Delibirds. It's nearly impossible.

The reprint stuff could come from somewhere else (tins or the blister packs at stores could contain them... since they already do). I've always regarded POP sets as a good opportunity to replace what set rotations took away. But apparently those in control don't feel the same way.

It's just bad for the competitive scene, when it could be good for everyone.

I don't like the P7 set list either, but it couldn't hurt to get more Gallade, Stantler or Corsola. (Assuming these are reprints of the ones I'm thinking of)

POP sets are very dissapointing

It is so sad that the last two POP packs have been lets face it "Horrible" Pokemon USA has done so much good lately it is sad that this area has been so lacking the last two sets.

I always looked foreword to the new POP sets. What new pokemon would be released (Celebi EX) What trainers would be brought back (Mr Briney's Compassion, Pokemon Fan Club, Hi/Low Pressure System)
and the Pop 5 set with the rare candy's and special energies, and Delta Mew what an absolute fantastic set. In fact Pop 5 was everything a POP set was supposed to be, why we have gone from that panicle to the absolute nothing of the past few sets is both sad and a bit confusing, why after having POP sets be so useful, why all the sudden they are so bad now. With POP 6 so bad, most of the players in my league have stopped collecting points as interest in getting more POP packs is very low, and with the new reprint set in POP 7 I do not expect any difference next league season.

I really hope that some day POP packs will once again be useful to players and not just collectors.

Come on, Pop7 contains ALOT of archtype-related cards, dont be stupid/silly people. I am sure many kiddies will enjoy it. :)

It contains ONE archetype card, Gallade, who is going to competitively build a Wormdam deck? and Ampharos is good and all, but not much use with Gallade running rampant.

he is a teacher pet, simple as that

it's ridiculous how:

1:) we have such a limited format and still who ever is in charge of this game doesn't do a thing to help us (THE FANS) have a little bit more fun.

2:) besides that, instead of helping us out they give us 2 pop reprint set. Like i can see the format getting better in the next 2 sets but that's too much to wait for as we have already waited for it long enough.

No sour grapes here, i place 2nd today on horrible judge calls at my states. But i really do wish we would get something better then simple reprints. The thing it's not just me making this complain over and over again it's almost every competetive player. Look at "The who is sick of Magmortar/GG" thread. I mean for someone to actually start a thread saying that, is pretty bad. The people who have posted against that just don't understand that it's not a fun format when you have 2 dominating decks and nothing really to do about because of lack of cards. It's not a lack of skill or imagination believe me. I've talked to some good players around the nation and they have all expressed to me how they have tried deck after deck after deck. Nothing works effectively vs. the current lousy metagame. Cheap one at that when the card designers made 2 cards in the same line to destroy the whole format.

P.S. No it's not sour grapes on getting second either. Try playing in a tournament where there are 2 other tournaments being played like Magic or something else. Where your a better judge then the people judging your game. Perfect example: My opponent played a TGW, we tied on scissors. So then we do it over again. But we couldn't get in sync with each others counts so we had to do it over BEFORE WE SHOT ANYTHING like 2 times. When we finally do shoot, my opponent switches last slit second from rock to scissors like he actually motioned rock then pushed out his 2 fingers when he saw that i had paper. I caught it, the judge saw it, my opponent admit to switching it, yet we still had to do it over, and he won. I wish for anyone to say that is still sour grapes, please do so.

Plus want more proof this is a stale format, look at the what is winning states thread then come talk to me.

Just because POP6 and POP7 aren't the best of sets from a tournament players point of view does not mean that POP* will be similar.

There isn't anyway of pleasing everyone with these sets. I'm sure that many of the decisions on what can and can't be placed in the sets comes from PCL, not that I'm trying to deflect blame just to highlight the probable reality behind some of the decisions. (I don't realy see this as a blame/fault issue.)

it's not a flame, it's good argument. Here is my argument though:

POP* when ever it comes will be too much wait and for what? Only time will tell. So many people were excited when ready the what would have been out D/P 4 with the Eeveelutions and Fossils. Guess what they took those out? GE wasn't a bad set, it has a lot of supporter pokemon. But that's it, supporter, nothing to build a deck around. Nothing to counter the metagame. Unown G is decent but G/G has their counter to that, Windstorm and Psychic Lock.

Ok, so your thinking what could 2 new decks in the metagame do if we would have gotten Eeveelutions and Fossils. It would go a longer way then you think. With those two decks in the format it could open up the possibility of other decks being good. Say G/G has a very bad matchup vs. Leafeon/Sceptile, (as it's already been tested that Sceptile decks do give G/G a hard time) and Leafeon/Sceptile can hold it's own vs. Magmortar because Glacia/Vaporeon and Umbreon. So now people would start trying to counter EeveeTile. Then throw a trainer lock with all the interesting fossil pokemon there are right now, and you have like 2 Plus decks that pop out to counter those. A latilock deck for Fossils, and a T2 deck for EeveeTile, as I see that's what would give that deck problems. So two other decks arise from countering 2 more decks being made from a better GE set we never got and it could keep going that way until we had about 8 good and fun decks to choose from.

They could have held the supporter pokemon for the next set. Ok, so they didn't do that. They could have give us a better Pop 7, they didn't do that either. So now we have to wait another 3 months just because someone thought it would be a great idea to have more reprints because the kiddies might like them? Is that even a valid point. Because the kiddies MIGHT like them. What about the rest of us? Heck we haven't gotten a trainer or energy in either one of these Pop set either. Heck print some old stadiums out. Currently we have stadiums that benefit Water, Colorless, 2 that benefit Dark, 2 that benifit Psychic, 2 "counter" stadiums in Crystal Beach and BF, a consistency "improving" stadium in Speed, a stall stadium (that's why they made the fossil rule, now they make a stall stadium, kind of ironic don't you think?) and a stadium that could have given older cards a slight chances at being playable in lake boundary. Where are stadiums that benefit Fire (although they don't really need the help) Grass, Electric, Metal, and/or Fighting decks. Where are the stadiums that counter Powers? Like Cursed Stone oh wait it was taken out of the format with LM. Where are the interesting stadiums like Giant Stump, which would help against Magmortar and maybe G/G, again taken out and not put back in.

All in all, you can see why I'm a bit disgusted with what we got in Pop 7. But as Pooka would say "There is always next year (or set for this matter)".

I'm sure that POP read these threads, and when well argued cases are presented I'd also expect that they try to address the exposed issues. Now POP probably can't make any comment :( so you end up having to trust that they are fighting for everyones corner. Everyone including the tournament players who are feeling a bit dissapointed.

Cursed Stone would have been nice, but I doubt that our format would benefit from Giant Stump.

Couldn't it stop Bring Down from KOing a damaged pokémon and heavily weaken Pachirisu's call for family?

Unown G would also be less useful and it might stop Absol ex from being sniped. But yeh, not a whole lot helpful. Wailord could make use of it maybe. It happens to be my second favourite stadium, second to chaos gym.

I would have liked to have seen any of Ancient Tomb, Full Flame or High Pressure System.

You dont get the point that SD Mom was making. You opened packs BEFORE the season even started! YOU have not earned those packs. They are for the players. IF you dont get to play much, get someone else to be LL. Or trade players that earn them to complete your collection! There are ways to get the cards legit vs taking from your player base. You only get sent basically what your league has player wise from the last reported season.

No, I get the point that Pokemom was trying to make, I just don't necessarily agree with it.

In my league right now there are 15-20 kids, and not a one of them is eligible to be a league leader with me, so it's me all on my lonesome. I don't even have a car, so I ride the bus across town, carrying a large suitcase of supplies with me. So while I didn't earn the cards the way that you would have liked, or even the way that they are to be officially acquired, I feel that I did earn them.

And what is timeliness if there is no time in which I can meet the goals to earn them? I am included within the number of league participants, so 3 of those four packs were legitimately set aside for me, with the 4th one being one of the extras (and i always have an absurd amount of prizes for new players/friends, so they are not needed for that purpose; none of these cards were taken from my player base. Nothing is ever taken from my player base; quite the opposite. The primary reason that I opened them was to know what the cards of the season were before it was league time.

Again, if the members here want to criticize my behavior, that is fine. But everyone here has pretty much lived up to the forum troll stereotype by nitpicking, and being overly negative of all information presented here. Admittedly, I'm stubborn. But I do not feel that what I did was so wrong: worth admonition.

If tomorrow was Friday all over again, the only thing that I would do differently would be to take the info that I gleaned from opening the cards somewhere else, like Pokebeach or Pojo.

stopped reading there, and then continued after this post. Thank you for your dedication sir I applaud you:thumb:.

ok back to reading.

Plebianprint, don't feel bad about the people jumping on the bandwagon here. I think many members here are just angry that they cannot post information because the Gym is tied to POP. PokePop has told me on many occasions that if he were in my position, he'd be doing the same thing (posting info early). Don't let people get to you, especially when you are doing a favor for both players in real life and players on the Gym. The people who are usually the loudest are those who want to pull you down - the people who appreciate people like you simply remain silent and appreciative. Don't let people like Lawman get to you. :)

Another thing: If the Gym's higher ups are so against information being posted early, why do you allow discussion of it? You cry about it, yet if it helps to promote discussion here, you're all for it. If you are going to stick to your morals of posting info on time, don't stop short when the situation is in your favor (in terms of allowing people to talk about it). Get what I mean?

EDIT: As for taking the info to other sites thing, I'll gladly take you up on your offer next time in case I am missing any cards. ;)

Wait, people are complaining about GOOD cards that they get for playing? I hate this. Ever since Pop5 came out all that people do is complain because PUI has 'Screwed' us over again.
