Professor Cup 2006 FAQ up!

The number of Professors in North America and Europe are high enough that holding a Cup there makes sense. South America and Asia don't.

If we get to the point where the Professor Exam is translated into multiple languages, and the number of Professors in those areas increases, then I'll consider a Cup in those areas.
 
Trip to worlds again ?! Good stuff Mike- thanks :) I'm judging regionals this weekend. Now i have
yet ANOTHER reason to look forward to Nats.!

Is the bolded part applicable to any possible participants?

Unless there are still some underaged Professors who have not expired by the tournament date.

The last of the <18 Professors will expire after the North American Cup.
 
I'm still one of those <18 profs left and would be slightly miffed if I won travel for myself, but not my parent who'd come to support me.

The REAL question is, will they all expire BEFORE Worlds 2006? If so, the bold print is moot. :biggrin:

I would assume that the date at which the individual obtains the travel/accommodations for their guardian is not superseded by the date of the event.

Actually, I'd say otherwise. Possibly, at the time of booking the flight/reservation, if the player is still 17 (but turns 18 before Worlds), they MIGHT send a guardian. But I don't know for sure. Did this happen to anyone last year? Was anyone out there 17 when they won their trip, but turned 18 before Worlds?
 
I thought there was something about this in the Worlds FAQ last year or year before, which said that people who won their worlds invite when 17 but turned 18 before worlds were NOT allowed to have a Parent or guardian with them...
 
Well, there might be 16-year old Professors now who can win the trip. They might not be professors when Worlds comes around, but they'll still get to take a parent/guardian because they already won the trip, so it doesn't matter if they're Professors during Worlds.

If a 17 year-old wins it, and turns 18 before Worlds, they don't get to take a guardian, cos they're 18 on the day of the actual trip.

I was a Professor but not anymore because I'm 17 years old. May 3rd I will become 18. I judged a big tournament a week ago (beneluxcup) so I believe I have earned some professor credits (although I was not a professor when I judged the tournament).

So My question is if I make and pass the test on my birthday can I atend at the professor cup may 6th?
 
You only get prof points for events you judge AFTER you become a professor.

So while you would be a professor, you wouldn't have the points.

On another note, I will be going to the European one next weekend. w00t! :smile:
 
Any European Professors here who want to meet up at the hotel lobby Thursday and/or Friday night and play a bit? With Modified or by playtesting Holon Phantoms sealed. I'll bring 6 Holon Phantoms booster in case anyone's up for the latter.

Too much expensive... I will be in cheaper hotel in Brussels centre.
I could test modified decks on saturday... if there will be time for this...
