Worldwide, PS3 beats 360 by about as much as the 360 beats PS3 in US sales. The main problem being Japan where the 360 for the most part hardly sells at all - but in their case a large portion of that is the Japanese don't want to buy an American product over a Japanese one. It's similar to the many Americans who refuse to look at non-US brand cars.
In response to DEOXEYS: The blu-ray drive is really not quite all it's cracked up to be for gaming. Yeah, it's nice having that extra space but for the most part, games aren't even filling the 9GB that regular DVDs afford them. Look how few multi-disc 360 games there are. Assassin's Creed was a PC game ported to 360 - nearly all PC games get trimmed down in some way or another when ported to consoles. The only PS3 games that even come close to filling the blu-ray discs do stupid things to do so... for example, about 75% of the data on Metal Gear Solid 4's blu-ray disc is uncompressed audio, which is so mortifyingly stupid it's obvious they did it just so they could brag about how they nearly filled the disc for PR reasons.
Other than the capacity of the blu-ray drive and the standardised hard drive (not the capacity - the fact that every PS3 has a hard drive means games can install data to said hard drive, 360 games are not allowed to require installation with very few exceptions e.g. MMORPGs), PS3 doesn't really have much over 360 specifications wise, and those two factors only make a difference for a distinct minority of games.
