Hi guys,
Not sure if this is the right place, but I hope to get some ideas and generate a discussion on coming up with a realistic metagame for US Nationals for HGSS-on format so that we can playtest.

So far, I am thinking something like this:
20% Magneboar
20% Reshiboar (Using Ninetales instead of Magnezone)
10% Rain Dance (Anything that uses Feraligatr (Prime) and Rain Dance)
10% DonChamp (Donphan (Prime) and Machamp (Prime))
10% Zekrom (most likely with Yanmega)
10% Mew and Gengar (Prime)
20% Others (Rogue)

What do you guys think?

I think rogue might comprise slightly more at 30-35%. Reshiboar and Reshiplosion will be split among 20%, with MagneBoar comprising another 20%. then we have random, more subpar lists that include Cinccino, Zoroark, and Gengar/Mew

That looks about right. I think we may see 40 (like you said) - 50% Emboar varients at Nats. DonChamp may be played less than I initially thought because of the popularity of RDL, and on that note, there may be a lot of Emboar/RDL variants as well (with RDL as the main attacker and Magnezone as backup/draw power). Good list tho!

I'd go for 50% Emboar/Typhlosion variants. The decks are VERY powerful... and a huge number of people know its power. I haven't seen any reliable Rain Dance Varients... I would place it more in the "other" category. If we go -10% raindance, +10 Emboar/Typlosion variants, I'd say your list is dead on. Zekrom may be plus or minus 10%. I have talked with a few people, and none of us have confidence in the deck, but it is still very much a deck. Public belief of the deck's ability just isn't very high... from my experience. Otherwise, though, your list is nearly perfect IMO.

I think that it will be 20% Emboar varients (mainly Magneboar and Reshiboar), 5% Mewgar variants, 10% Donphan varients, 5% Zekrom varients, and 60% rogue, whether good or noob decks. I don't think there will be one deck played far more than any other, but I do think that the three ecks to beat are Magneboar, donphan Varients, and Mewgar, in that order. My playtesting suggests that Zekrom kind of sucks. The lack of tournaments before the event to figure out the format will mean a very disproportionately high amount of rogue, but that very few of these will be good enough to make top cut. Just my opinion, though.

What ever happens in Canada and Mexico will effect what is played in the US. Thier Nats are the week before ours with the HGSS-On Fomat.

Only to an extent. I highly doubt that people will play a deck just because it was played either here or in Mexico. Some people will probably be chased off of decks that wind up being miserable failures, but I don't see anybody changing what they're playing TO something strange/odd/whatever that's played here as opposed to FROM it.

That and the waaaay smaller sample sizes will make it harder to get a reading on stuff.

I take it you are going to Nats Will? Will be good to see you back in the game.

I think your list is not too far off. There will be plenty of Resi and Zek being played, in some fashion. There will also be a good amount of rogue.

Back in the game? Keith, I think Will plans on winning an invite to worlds by finishing high at Nats. I was glad to see the post too, and hope you're coming back big Will.

On topic, Emboar with RDL and surprise rogue in the top cut.

More generally, decks that are fast and consistent with good recovery with 4 Cleffa and room for 4 Reversal will most likely do well too.
I am VERY excited for a Nats with as much as 40% rogue.. Just amazing.

You better perform at Nats or Worlds Hung.

On topic, I see the meta being

30% Emboar variants (whether it be with reshi and tails or magnezone or anything else
20% DonChamp
10% Zekrom
10% MewGar
5% RainDance variants
15% Rogue

The 30% on Emboar Variants might be a little higher, but I say at least 30% of the meta will be Emboar stuff.

Emboar is the vocal point to most decks that are likely to be played at nats, but at the same time there are rogue decks for the counter fit. So I'd probably see bunch of rogue then Emboar.

I disagree. I think that emboar is going to be the FOCAL point to most decks, but probably not the vocal point.

I'm going to revise my format predictions.

30% Emboar/Typhlosion Variants (Magneboar, Reshiboar/pholsion

10% Water Variants (Blastgator/Blastfloatsel)

10% Donphan Varients (Donchamp, Donmega, Speedphan)

5% Lostgar Variants (Mewgar)

5% Zekrom Variants (Zekromdonk, any others?)

40% Rogue

Unless you're also counting the not-so-good players in your meta predictions, based on past nationals I doubt the meta will be 40% rogue. Emboar is going to be way more popular, I'd even say 50%+.
