ReshiBoar Sucks

Magneboar, imo, is THE deck to play for Nationals. I've been testing other things, and I just can't seem to match the consistency and damage output that this deck has going for it. Clearly, it is the BDIF, and I don't see a counter in sight.

It loses to itself. You'll see what I mean when you play it at Nationals.

I'd say Emboar/Magnezone is a 'safe' play for Nats.

Nobody knows what's going to be in the format, virtually anything could come out on top. I can see a lot of Stage 2 decks being played, trying to break the format. Rush decks lack the late game capability to survive over a long tournament. Most decks lack the capability of killing these stage 2's. Emboar/Zone can do infinite damage, making it to be a good matchup for X that is a Stage 2. The worst thing to do in a tournament such as Nats is to lose to some absolute garbage because you have a bad matchup vs it. Emboar doesn't lose to random garbage, and thus should be a prudent play for players looking to play a full tournament.

I tend to disagree. Zekrom has a great early game and if built right can keep pushing out zekroms later game. Sure it has a tough time against donphan, heck maybe even an autoloss but it fairs relatively well vs. everything else. Also, SuicuneEnteiLegend singlehandedly wins you the donphan matchup. If you want to beat donchamp, throw in xatu which will be oneshoting champs for 1p (or rainbow which zekrom should play).

Also on a side note, rainbow energy is amazing in zekrom. Not only can you play other poke's in the deck, it puts 10 on zekrom when you attach it. This means its enough to one shot babies without seriously crippling yourself with 40 damage.

I apologize for the rankings rant earlier. When I'm out of line, I'll admit it.

Onto the topics discussed:
- I do feel that Typhlosion w/ Reshiram is better against the field than Emboar w/ Reshiram. Typhlosion is less reliant on your draws once it gets rolling. I also still think that Typhlosion's Flare Destroy is more useful than a lot of people are acknowledging. Yes the mirror match can be more difficult but you have to try to be more tactical (a couple defenders in place of the energy recovery cards in ReshiBoar).

- MagneBoar is a very good deck, but it is not perfect. I feel as though MagneBoar will almost single handily force most decks to run at least 3 Pokemon Reversal or Pokemon Circulator. Getting those Tepig/Magnemite KO'd early is huge. I also honestly think that a very tight Blastoise/Floatzel list is very difficult for MagneBoar. Getting early board control with a turn 2 or 3 Blastoise is also a killer.

what are you going to do when catcher comes out tho?
emboar has a massive retreat cost.

i just realized that there are no mudkips in format...*cries*

Switch. Those that don't run Switch currently WILL run it when Pokemon Catcher is released.

IMO, MagneBoar wont turn out as well as everybody thinks it will because of the massive amount of energy you need to LZ, and then you will start to run out of energy and it will be impossible to get more. For example, when against a ReshiBoar deck, it needs to burn about 3 energy in order to knock all the pokemon in the deck other then tepig and pignite. I doubt they probably even run enough energy to take all 6 prizes.

Me and many other people I know run 18...which is enough...

You're forgetting that some of them run some Reshiram's too. So, they'll get some prizes off of them in the early game. Also, RDL says hi.

On another note. My Reshiboar deck is pretty boss. It has a great late game, and can take down mostly all those big baddies. Ninetales is definitely not the way to go with it. I don't run shuckle either. You should try it without a Pokemon draw supporter, and just run Junipers, and PONT'S. You don't have to take my word for it, it's just a suggestion. You seem like you're at your last wits end trying to find a answer to this.

I have an article on 6 Prizes coming out tomorrow that might help you if your interested. I hope this helps you out in your testing, weather you're playing it, or testing against it. Good luck Pori Sames.

When I played Magneboar this past season I ran 18 energies, enough to be able to KO 6 150HP Pokemon. In my current build of MagneBoar, I have less energies but only because I also run cards like Reshiram/RDL that discard energy, which I can get back via Retrieval.

why hasn't any one tried adding ho-oh legend to the deck? Inferno fandango pared with it equals a free hard hit.

You have an even harder hit with Reshiram. Ho-Oh does less damage for a lot more effort. Why bother?

That's exactly what I said.

I'm building a reshiboar deck for one of my friends. He doesn't want to put ninetails in it because he collects ninetails cards and won't take them out of his binder. The deck works great once it's set up; the only problem is that it seems kinda hard to get emboar out. The deck has 3 candy, a 2-2-2 line, 4 communication, 2 elm's, and 3 collector, yet he still can't get the emboar out by T3 consistently. Am I building his deck wrong, or is he just really unlucky?

Very unlucky, I dont play any elms and I can get it out by T3 or 4

Probably because you don't have ninetails in there.
