Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Room rate for the Hilton San Diego Bayfront

Just made reservations at the San Diego Bayfront. $239 a nite "Pokemon" rate, vs. the $369 standard rate. The rate is not available on-line, but if you call the Hilton directly, they will confirm the group rate for you at that time. They require a credit card to hold the room, with no charge to the card. 2 days prior cancellation notice.

I don't mean to complain but $239 a night for a room. And this is the discounted rate down from $350. I'm a simple guy, I'm perfectly fine with staying at $30 a night motel give me a pillow and a conor and I'm fine. Last year it was less than $200. I don't know maybe I'm just old fashioned the price just seems unbelievably high.

That is why for the 2nd year in a Row we will be staying in an off site hotel. we found one over a mile away for $120.00 a night

I know it is expensive for those that are paying their own way, but think about it from TPCi's point of view.
  1. Several high-level company executives from Japan will be making the trip. They can't put them up in a cheap hotel.
  2. Most low cost hotels don't have the conference space they need. You can find a conference room at a Super 8, but it likely won't hold much more than 50 people.
  3. Who wants to win a trip that includes a two or three night stay at a Motel 6? The Pokemon Company International wants to give away quality prizes.

Do give them credit for chosing tourist destinations where, for the most part, a cheaper option exists nearby (the Waikaloa Village on Hawaii is the only exception I can think of)

I wasn't complaining about anyone special, I was just complaning more at how the world works now days.

POP does an amazing job with this game, I certainly not upset with them.

I booked a room in a motel in the downtown 650$ for 7 days and for 4 people (we are 3 players so about 220$ for each player) ^.^

rates

the wife called them and they said the rooms are right at 100.00 off the price listed on thier website. hope this helps

I find those rates to be really high! Why wouldn't they put worlds in a more neutral place. I'm over in the East Coast. :frown:

There are literally tons of hotels and motels within a reasonable (walking) distance from the Hilton. And it's San Diego, I wouldn't mind walking around. It's not like you're going to get mugged or something.

Whee SoCal hotel prices. This is a brand new, water front Hilton located near most of the things to do in SD. It's irritating that it is that expensive, but not all that surprising considering the area. There are plenty of other hotels nearby though, so if staying at the Hilton seems excessive it's not like there are no other options. I'll admit that staying where worlds is being held is fun though. Especially after playing in the grinder, it's nice to be able to just take an elevator ride and crash as opposed to driving/walking back to wherever you are staying.

Room Rate at Hilton for Worlds

Just to help anyone who cannot ring the Hilton I was given this info (by the Hilton) and the room rate goes down to 239.00

To obtain the Pokemon rate online, please be sure to enter "PKWC" into the "Group/Convention code" field, under the "Special Accounts" section of the "Dates and Preferences" page during the reservations process.

I'm about to book my flight.
I can stay with a friend who one the trip at the hilton but since we plan to go there earlier, can someone give me some advice for a good hotel that is in walking distance of the hilton?
Last year we just booked some hotel and were stuck in the middle of nowhere.

Also since we dont have that much money a somehow cheap hotel would be great.

Really need some advice from someone who's been there, sitting in an area with 50 hotels stuck somewhere between 2 highways with 3 busses a day to bring you back into civilasation sucked :/

Thanks^^

1.2 miles from the Hilton. $119 a night for Monday-Wednesday. That's about as good as you're going to get.
