doesnt pidgeot do the same thing?
or is the ludicolo for attacking purposes too?

Kevin89 I addapted the combo to the Deck because both Magarco and Ludicolo have solid and cheap attacks, which might work as a metagaming technique.

Magarco's first attack discards the a stadium in play which might ruin your game (e.g. Desert Ruins), he also deals 50 with one Fire and the colorless energyies.

Ludicolo has a nice attack which costs one water energy, and can be used as a staple attack, recovering his life.

So yes they are also used to attack.

Edit: Forget Jirachi and stick with the Magarco/Ludicolo search engine and Rare Candy. It's simply faster than wasting one attack turn to fetch one pokemon.
