Scizor MD:Fantastic or Failure?

That 1 energy is crucial, not to mention the lack of fire decks vs. electric decks, and the 10 additional HP. Octillery'll be ok I guess with Upper Energy, but I find it to be too costly for what it is.
1 for 80 is AMAZING.

so now...in order to pull of the "Surprise tech" you need scyther+Scizor+BTS+Metal....you need 4 cards in hand or access to ALL 4... thats not a tech! With 4 spaces i can run a 1-1-1 Line of rampados or machamp...
Pach...thats a tech
surpise skuntank in kingdra thats a tech
Zangoose... thats a tech
a Lake boundry for surprise KO... thats a tech
In the end you still need to set up your scizor so it's not a true tech... it's an option...and not a very good one

Assuming BTS is out, all you need is Scyther, Scizor and Metal. BTS is a common stadium, with all the swarm decks running around. Duskoir DP needs just as many cards to set up (Duskull, Candy, Dusknoir) and nobody would doubt that it is a tech. I'm not saying it's a great tech, but it's a tech.

In any evolution deck (Kingdra, Champ, Gengar), you probably have BTS anyways. In that case, you need Scyther, Scizor and a Metal (3 cards).
In GeChamp, you play Multi, so you really only need Scyther + Scizor (2 cards).
In Dialga G, you can play BTS as one of your stadiums for Skuntank, or you can wait it out. Either way, all you need is Scyther + Scizor + maybe BTS (2-3 cards).
I think if a Scyther hits the table, your opponent won't be in any hurry to discard their special energy via retreat (and if they do, they will most likely cripple their deck).
No one's saying to tech Scizor in any deck, but quite a few can easily tech him in.

if you're running scizor as a tech, then that's a good thing. Making your opponent play around a 1-1 card in your deck turns many match-ups way in your favor. It'd be like seeing Dialga G decks w/o their wall of SP Metals because scizor can come up and punch them for 80. if they don't run them, your other guys can come out and hit them without worrying about the 10 damage mitigation.
No, scizor comes in, punches for 50 or 60, then gets
ohkoed by a crobat or two and a remove lost.

Then you come in with your main attacker and take out a Dialga they've been building up for 3+ turns thanks to something you've built up for 1 turn.
Sounds like it's worth it to me.

BTS already in play (yours or your opponents), in hand Scizor, Roseannes for Scyther + basic metal.
Yeah, a best case but it's not like it's impossible to pull off. In additon Lux ball + Rose or Bebe's potentially lets you get both out in one turn if you have the nrg and stadium. All the stuff you listed IS going to get out faster more consistently, but techs have never been limited to just basics. Tech 1-0-1 Dusknoir DP in G&G last format, Tech 1-1 Blissey in Dialga G, Tech Machamp in Gengar.
