Chapter 7: Uprising
Darkness Island
Giovanni, as was predicted, was
not happy. James was cowering in the grand room, with Giovanni on his throne, screaming at him, and all his guards that saw him and were involved.
"How could you let this insolent
boy escape? Hm? He's seventeen, for crying out loud! You're grown, trained men, with Pokemon with you! Shadow Pokemon, too! Do I
have to give you guns to carry, too?" Giovanni screamed at the guards. They were shuffling nervously.
"Um..." One said.
"And
you," Giovanni spat at James, ignoring his guard, "
you will be punished
severely. No one has
ever tried to escape before. And I've held captive some very good Trainers. But now
you come along, and escape! You will be killed, no mistake about
that, but first you will have to be torchered!"
"Well, what do you think I'd, huh? The door was wide open, and your guards outside weren't expecting anything! What, you think I'd be like "hey, guards! The door's open! Could you come and lock it again?" Well, the answer is no! I had nothing to lose, I'd rather be dead then become one of these mindless thugs you call guards! And give up my Pokemon to become Shadow Pokemon!"
Giovanni looked like he was going to explode.
"Listen, boy! I
expect you to follow my rules on my turf! I meake the rules, you follow them! I can do what I like with you and your sister, I don't care about you two, I have thousands more, and billions to Shadow! What do I care about you and your sister? Hm?" Giovanni said.
"No. This is wrong. This boy here is the only one out of all of us who had the courage to try to escape. And it took everyone not on cabin duty to stop him, and even some on cabin duty. Because of him, at least 20 people were able to escape. And he's only seventeen. I say we stop our boss's manical scheme. I say we let the prisoners go. I say we should overthrow Giovanni. We have the numbers, we can do it!" One of the guards stepped forward. James' escape must have brought back some form of humanity into him.
"What did you just say? Giovanni said threatingly.
"I said we can and
will overthrow you, Giovanni. We are thousands, you are one. You don't stand a chance." The guard said, to applause and cheers from the other Shadow Humans, now turning back into normal humans.
"I have your Pokemon. I have Shadow Lugia, and many others besides. They can and will stop you, and I'll kill you all!" Giovanni roared.
James saw a group of guards slip out. One of the guards, beside him whispered to him.
"They're going to release the prisoners."
Yes! That means that Emily will be freed! James thought to himself, in triumph.
"Shadow Pokemon! Join me!" Giovanni cried, his voice entered in every Shadow Pokemon's head.
Thousands of Shadow Pokemon came swarming into the castle. The guards beat them down, but they were too strong. The guards' own Pokemon turned on them.
But, the prisoners were free. Emily was free. That's what mattered to James.
The guards were eventually overtaken. The Pokemon were just too strong for them. James was hidden in a corner, and the Pokemon hadn't noticed him. But all the guards were dead or captured, except for the ones outside.
And Giovanni had lost more then half his men.
And the prisoners were free.
It was the first uprising Giovanni had ever had to deal with.
There would be another to come.
