Please get one and either find Pia (wearing her Tiara) or Mike (Pokepop), Vince (Meganium45), Keith (Lawman) or John (The_Sniper) and give it to them (they will find Pia).

Once Pia has one then she will take your name and address and Gym name and I will pay you a fair price for the DS.

I will pay for one of the special DS's from this years worlds, once Pia has one then she will politely turn others away, I have a figure in my mind that is fair and I will not post that here, lets just say you will happy :wink:

I knew that the pokemon community was amazing in so many ways and I never doubted that we would be able to get some pokemon goodies together for this poor boy.

However, you have all, especially you Mozz, exceeded my wildest dreams and expectations! Words cannot express the warmth and gratitude I feel, and this once again proves that not only is Pokemon a great game, but it is played by some truly extraordinary and fantastic people! Although I don't know the first thing about Pokemon, nor how to play it, I feel extremely proud and privileged to be part of this generous and caring "family".

Please forgive me, but I keep miss-spelling Liam's name (it's the blonde in me). His name is LIYAN Brown and he is from New South Wales. I'm sure that Liyan will forgive my mistake once he receives his parcel.

Let there be no mistake Pia. You may not play the game but your contributions are unbelievable.

For those who may not know, the lovely tiara-wearing Pia has been the lead coordinating the translators at Worlds. Her resume is insanely great and she is a wonderful person.

Some day I wish to teach this brilliant person how to play this childrens game.
 
The Clantons will be bringing some goodies for this young man.
We had a similar situation here last year. Its close to our hearts.
Our thoughts go with him & his family.
 
Pia: I can do Larges from my own stash, possibly even a Medium too. Bright colored T's from Pokemon will lift the spirits!

@Mozz: Love ya Mate! I will gladly carry a DSi to Pia for anyone kind enough to win one and then donate it to this young man.

First of al I think this is a great thing and its really nice to see something like this happen.

I just wonder if it would be possible to spread all the stuff that gets donated a bit more?
Because it seems there really are some generous people and even more will show up at worlds and if this goes on this kid will end up with more shirts and hats and cards than he could ever use.
I'm not trying to take away anything from this kid, I think this is a great thing. But it seems that people are so generous that you'll end up with far more stuff than one kid could have any use for =).

I'll also look for some stuff I can donate, what do you think would be best? I have tons of those pokemon hats and I'd be happy to give them to someone who can do some good with it, I also should have some of those Gym Bags that City Winners got last year. Is this the kind of stuff you're looking for?

Again I dont think and dont want to sound like this kid shouldnt get this stuff, I just expect a great community to be generous enough so that you'll end up with enough stuff for more kids and maybe someone should look out for those.

it would probably be difficult to arrange for this year, with worlds a month away...but perhaps something to keep in mind for coming years: what if the previous world champions (...along with the costumed characters?) made a visit to the local childrens hospital and/or ronald mcdonald house the way the nfl teams do prior to the super bowl? much like jason k. played the make-a-wish child prior to worlds '07...

I still cannot believe just how compassionate and generous this community is!

Bright t-shirts are definitely a good idea. Hats as well as he has lost his hair due to the treatments. And anything else you would like to give.

My children and I have already discussed the issue that we might actually get more stuff than needed to make Liyan happy.

If it is okay for everyone donating, I would like to contact the Make a Wish Foundation and see if they would like the "left overs" or we could contact the local childrens hospital in San Diego and see if they would like a visit from some of the players/judges etc. - we could then distribute some of the goodies to the children there. I would be very happy to take a day out of my trip to do this.

There will be a big card for everyone to sign at world - it'll be wonderful for Liyan to see just how many people have thought about him.

Some of you have asked about his favourite pokemon; sorry I don't know. We have tried contacting both him and his family for the past few days but no luck.... which is actually quite worrying.

Liyan lives in New South Wales not too far from Sydney - should the Aussi Champ or any other player be in the area..... that would make him very happy indeed.

For the following two weeks I will not have regular access to a computer, so I won't be able to follow the discussions every day. I shall however, try to "check in" when ever I come across a computer with an internet connection.

I will bring a few things as well. I think this is wonderful and I would love to see this grow in the future to benefit more kiddos. It is all great - donated items, visits from champs maybe with theme decks to teach how to play, costumed characters, etc. Wonderful ideas!
