Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

South Texas City Championships

Now Zach was the smart one of the group, and refused the almighty cushy chair for the top cut. He caught on that everyone who sat in the cushy chair lost their match.

Mike,
Your the one that layed the curse on the chair the moment you had the idea to push it to winners. If you just let me sit in my glorious find of a chair for the whole tourney:mad:, there wouldn't have been a curse:lol: and I would have been the winner:eek:.

Congrats to all the winners!

Hey Mike, do you know the price on the Toll Way??

Thanks for the directions btw.... your so good to US Yankees up here!

Fish

It's either 1 toll @ 1.00 or just an exit toll @ .75 cents, I can't remember but I seem to think it's just 1 toll.

You can afford it, I see what you drive, I know where you work, you big spender.

Well, this is it, the last weekend of Cities. I actually have a tear in my eye.

Let's get out there and have some fun.

Deer Park on Saturday and Houston on Sunday. Check post # 43 & 44 for locations and directions.

See ya this weekend.

Safe trips for everybody.

Warning - DPS and local police all over the highways between Conroe and The Woodlands. Watch your speed.

Deer Park winners (January 5)

Juniors:

1) Travis B.
2) Patrick C.

Seniors:

1) Austin C. (Happy Birthday)
2) Demetre F.

Masters:

1) Clay Carney
2) Dana Lynch (without a cushy chair on wheels)

Well, well, well, it seems that the Dallas / Ft. Worth players have decided enough is enough. The look in their eyes said it all. "Houston, we're tired of you taking the spotlight in Texas". The north part of Texas showed up in force on Saturday and took control of Deer Park. The Houston area players hung in as long as possible, but it was Dallas / Ft. Worth that shined. If it wasn't for The Woodlands Austin C. in Seniors taking down Demetre, the north would've had a clean sweep. Austin was on a mission, a mission from the birthday fairy. We also had players from Mississippi & Louisiana make the trip. It was a great crowd, Skirmish Games took great care of us, even though the owner was sick as a dog. Thank you Skirmish Games.

Thanks to all that came out.

Sorry to hear about all the problems super goku ken. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Ut oh, if all the seniors show up today like they say, we'll have 7 of the top 10 seniors in Texas battling against each other. We could also have 7 of the top 10 Masters and 5 of the top 10 in Juniors.

All these big heads beatin' up on each other, should be fun to judge.

See y'all in a few hours. Someone bring me some donuts. I'm the PTO dang it, gimme some donuts.

We are big fans of all Jr's that can break into the 1800 club. Hopefully we have three Texans that joined the club today. David was one Texan that did. So how did the Three age groups do down there?

When I first booked this CC in November, Heroes (the store) could hold 60 to 70 players max. Not a problem, right? That's a decent number for a CC and that's sufficient for that location (based on past experiences). Imagine my surprise when I get there and see that the gaming area has been made smaller, and could only hold 40-ish players. Realizing very quickly that this was a problem, we went into over-drive. All staff pitched in (including store staff), and we made it work! We ended up with 80 + players and got every player in the tournament. Thanks to the Sweet Mesquite restaurant (they let us borrow some chairs). Thanks to Mother Nature, too. We set up for about 30 players outside (it was covered) and the weather was BEAUTIFUL! The PokeGods were looking down on me.... Enough about that!

It turned out to be a great tournament! We had a blast with all of the out-of-town players. Jose (PTO) from San Antonio decided to bring in some players to try to beat up on Houston and Dallas/Ft. Worth players. It almost worked. Vincent O. & Steven E. made top cut, but got beat. In Juniors, Travis B. made it a clean sweep for the weekend and Brent from Mississippi put the smack down on Danny F. in Masters to take home the gold. Derek P. from the Woodlands got his first City Championships medal by beating Dale L. in Seniors. Good job Derek.

Thanks again to all who showed up to play at this event, and thanks to the staff and all who pitched in to help! You're all GRRREAT!!!
