Love the deck, hate the Xatu because:
- Opposing special conditions really don't see much play. The odd Magmortar LvX and Flareon but they get drowned by the WHALE.
- Xatu will only help the self-inflicted sleep 1/4 of the time as 3/4 of the time it will have woken up anyway.
- There's 7 ways of healing it anyway with warp point and super scoop up.
- I'd sooner use Vaporeon* with all the mentor. More direct to the point than laying natu first.
1. Xatu is not here to stop opposing special conditions. That is just an added bonus.
2. Seeing as every time you attack is a turn you will probably put yourself asleep, this means w/o Xatu you will spend 25% of the time asleep, and therefore only attack 3 out of every 4 turns. And besides, sleep is luck based, and you could very well end up asleep 2-4 turns in a row, something Wailord cannot afford as it is already not much of an offensive threat.
3. Warp Point requires switching and wasting an energy attachment elsewhere to retreat, SSU wastes 4 turns of attaching.
4. Vaporeon* works 1-3 times a game, assuming an average of 2 heads on SSU when all 4 are targeted at Vap*. This is extremely inefficient and unreliable; not to mention it heals your opponent whom you are doing minimal damage to already.
^So 3 out of every hundred games, you will start with a Wailmer, etc when you could've started with a Rotom. BIG importance.
Yes, it is. You can't do ANYthing with a Wailmer start.
you shouldnt run phione or lunatone especially if your only running 1 of each.. I would take those out to add another 1-1 claydol line.
this seems reasonable, although i can see where mid-game, when you just lost a wailord and can't get your next one out, you just bring up phione and search one out of your deck. what is the lunatone for?
EDII: Oh, of course, it's for discarding energy. You may want another one of those. You may not.
