Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

States discussion for NJ

Yeah, We really need to know for sure where the event will be held for sure. I had heard a hotel, but theyve been saying that for years. Once it got on the op site, I thought it was for sure. We'll see.

this is brian posting on sam's account ... i broke the format ... gino didn't do anything ... he is crazy ... but i love hm anyway ...

also UG WILL GET A 4th states in a row ... so no johns son =D

diaz/drew ... u guys better be ready ... i dont expect anything less from the rival/challenge ^_^

Well unlike the spammer on top of me I actually have info about the location of states. Lissanne said that NJ states will be held at a hotel =) She agreed that TWC is way too small. I expect the information to change on the POP site.

What are you talking about, Toxicroak's body doesn't get shut of by Diagla G Lv. X. It's body doesn't affect any SP Pokemon.

Drew

Oh what's a toxicroak going to do to a Dialga who has -20 psychic resistance and is a G pokemon so it can't be poison structured, 0 damage. With rainbow energies Dialga G would be able to attack so toxicroak would get destroyed.

Here is the Official word on the Upstate NY side:

Ray R,Joe M,Steve K,Tim c

That is the crew going to this vent at Time Warp. I cant wait because i get to see a bunch of old buddies and play in my first states of the yeah.

I hope its at a hotel so we don't have to crowd into a CRAMMMMMMED shop again. No offense to Williamson and his shop but its way to tight for a states if its as big as anticipated.

See ya all there in a few weeks. :D

This format is wide open. I think that it is obvious that Kingdra will still be popular in our area. I think that SP decks will be as well as Toxicroak/Skunktank. This leads to me to believe the decks we will see is pretty much all Kingdra and SP decks. I mean I expect some other things, but I don't see Machamp, Gengar, Torterra, or Dusknoir being that popular. I know Dusknoir and Gengar were popular at one point, but I think that both are going to have issues with what the current format is now. Torterra is going to have issues as everyone who needs to be able to beat it can play Dialga G Lv. X. I can see some Gigas see play. As far as Machamp, I think anyone would be insane to play it. The Toxicroak/Skunktank (which I expect to be a lot of the format) is pretty much an Autoloss for Champ. I think that there is too much psychic in our area for Machamp to see play. That and the fact that only 2-3 players played it during Cities. If I was everyone I would prepare for Toxi and King since I expect those are going to insanely popular during NJ States.

i will be a 3rd time champ this year ...

darrell won 06'
i won 07' nj
i won 08' ny

i'm taking another ... someone stop me

Yo Brian you better win you did terrible at last season's states

only 2 more days until states. yay

It doesn't help that he played me in R1 and I had a GG that pretty much auto beat mirror. I flipped over 4 of his prizes before he could KO my Mawile and by then it was too late for him. 2 days, I am not sure if I am excited, nervous, or both. I just want my rating to go up and not down since right now I am 10th in NA. :thumb:

Funny Drew because in a format where it was pretty much all GG I didn't even see you in Top Cut last year.

Enough talkin in the past though. less than 2 days away now yay

Dear New Jersey Pokemoners,

I regret that I won't be with you guys for States either judging or playing although I can't complain with an upcoming trip to Florida. I just wanted to use this post to wish all the NJ players good luck in the upcoming States competition especially my friends at Time Warp Comics and Games. Even though you probably should be a little more modest, I tend to agree with the others that as a group we are the best Pokemon players in the USA!

I hope to read interesting States Reports on Saturday and I hope besides playing fairly and well that everyone has a great time!

See you when I get back!

John

Transit info from Timewarp courtesy of Lissanne:

Here is the Transit info for getting to states on Saturday.

Both the 193 and 197 (and 194 and 198) leave from Port Authority and go to
the Willowbrook Park and Ride in Wayne, NJ. From there it is a 15 minute
walk to the hotel. Jim has created a link to a walking map on the front Time
Warp web page at the bottom.
http://www.timewarpcomics.com/images/spt09map.jpg

Buses leave Port authority and arrive at Willowbrook Park and Ride on each
half hour We will be making four 'Pokemon Shuttle' pickups at 10:05, 10:35,
11:05 and 11:35. Each pickup is scheduled 5 minutes after each bus should
arrive. No pickups after that because registration ends at 11:45 (so don't
be late!)

Rides back to the park and ride will be on the 15 and 45 minutes of the hour
as necessary. Buses also return to New York every half hour.
