Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Switch and Warp Point

Not "if you don't think you would want to gust very often". If you actually anticipate that most of the time gusting will *hurt* you.

Unless you give me a better idea how your deck is supposed to work, I'm just defaulting on what works for 90% of decks out there: gusting = disruption, disruption = good.

Basically Free retreat cost for my Amphy Gyara. They switch in something that I can't really hurt then I'm kinda screwed if they have no energy attached to the pokemon.

Vespiquen Relies on the Vespiquen on bench Damaged so I can hit for maxed power.

Like i said, I'm usually kinda scared of warp point because of the chance that they may want to switch a copy for another pokemon they have Benched who is the same as the active one

also to add to that, If anything I might run both, 2 of each or one wp and 2 switch, and see what works better for me

Currently playing 1 Switch, 1 Warp Point in my Gigas.

Switch is a great tech against Luxchomp. Helps against Roserade GL and Promocroak, both difficult techs for Gigas to handle, especially when they are combined. Switch basically acts as my Promocroak counter, as the normal retreat + sacrifice is usually blocked by Power Spray. Switch also resets Giga Blaster/Giga Hammer if you need it to 2HKO something big without letting it get off the hook.

Warp point is more used against Gengar Prime or the wall decks. The problem is that with Gigas, you usually want to hit what's already active OR Drag off something that is on the bench. Still, Warp point = free prize for Gigas.

With Vespiquen and Gyarados, I'd go for Warp point in all cases. Vespiquen can swarm and take free prizes from Warp point targets, and it's the same with Gyarados.

If you're considering Switch, you should first consider Warp Energy and how well can it take the place from Switch. In most situations, Warp energy is more justified. Warp Energy + Warp Point is also a nice combo to utilize in your decks that need a lot of switching (like Gyarados/Seeker).

I played a Beta version of my Vespiquen deck and Warp Point worked out nicely once. Especially Since I had one ready to attack.
For Amphy/Gyara I need to test it out before i can say I can want it in there. It's the Gyara from CL/HS, so its not the normal Gyara.

The problem I face with Warp Energy is that It switches out my pokemon from attacking. I can find a spot for that one maybe in my Amphy/Gyara Deck, but thats just an extra energy in my Vespiquen Deck.

Warp Point is hands down one of the best cards in the game. It gets your preferred attacker out and their preferred attacker away. It has saved me many times and is unexpected, interesting, and much better than Switch. Even against swarm decks it has its uses. Definitely run it over switch 99% of the time.

I prefer the Warp Point over the Switch.
There are more situations it better handles. For instance, they may not always have another built up Machamp or something else, or may not have the correct energy. Either way, it's disruptive and can lead to an easy prize while allowing you to do what needs doing.

Warp Point means an easy prize far too often to consider not running it - few decks actually care for Switch, though there may be some out there.
Usually though, Warp Point is the better choice by far. Against decks like Gyarados, it usually means a guaranteed prize - and many other decks to go with it.

Not to mention Warp Point does let you switch your active.

Granted, there are a few situations where it may put you in a situation not as good as you´d like, but the pros outweigh the cons in my opinion.

well thinking of it really puts it into actual thought. Warp Point seems to be a great card since it does screw over the opponent with their bench not ready to fight if coming out fast enough. thanks peeps!

Sometimes Warp point can work to your opponents advantage though. I have 2 warp points and one switch in my deck.

All this Warp Point talk makes me miss the old days of Double Gust. Good times, good times.

Days when sneasel/scyther haymaker with cleffa starter, where everything has free retreat, you mean.

This is why catcher is going to change the metagame more than lost world can ever hope to do.
