"Well... if no Fossils show up and prove most everyone wrong, this is still going to be viable for States!! I do love Island Hermit nad my daughter is trying that one out!! Thanks DW!"

Well, there's always Cyclone Energy.

And Palkia LV.X... They're not going to have any way to lock powers unless they do something REALLY weird like put a Pidgeot d on the bench (that I absolutely couldn't see working...).

*SHOT for terrible idea*

I was at a tourney and just by playing master ball and birch I was told by a player "good choice with the fishing engine". Seems your use of words travels oversea. :)

I've been playing the engine with team galactic's wager and minun with great effect. Minun's power works after birch, so you can use a ball and drop it to reduce hand, then you have a draw 2 after birch or wager.

Cool... but with the growth of Pokegym, it is nice to see all around the worlkd, players getting more exposure to different things!

Nice idea.. that is what I love about htis style engine, it can be easily modified to fit your play style!! Have you had much success with it??

Birch followed by Minun has really worked for me best out of all. I used a half fishing engine type build to get second at a CC. It went 1-2 in the final best of three versus Gallade/Gardy.

Back to back posts merged. The following information has been added:

BTW I had another idea for draw after you Birch. Speed stadium, easy to lay to reduce hand and draw after birch or TGW. Nice to stop moonlight stadium and such too.

Well, with the lack of fossils coming out, has anyone attempted to alter this engine a bit and see if it is still viable?

I know if you take out the Great Balls and place in Pachi, things get going a whole lot quicker and allows you to change to some Quick Ball variants. Just wondering if anyone has tried any other combos yet??

Isn't the big combo using Claydol here? Like run the fishing engine as normal but get a birch every turn. 4 Master ball and such to thin your deck (also helps to get Claydol) and then draw up. Or spam wager every other turn and if you lose draw up with Claydol otherwise their hand is lower.

Baltoy is the best part of the Claydol line IMO. It's an excellent start with the fishing engine and of course it's good for evo lines. Turn 1 you lay basics and attach energy then use its attack to draw one or two. Turn 2 (or if you go second) you can really go to town and play all your trainers etc. then draw up. Might work out, might not.

I actually have a no supporter deck running using Claydol in place of Birch. It starts kinda slow (haven't tried Pachirisu in addition to Claydol yet), but once you get a Claydol up the whole deck just starts moving. The best part of Claydol over Birch is you can use it's power to replace the extra energy that tends to build up in your hand and slow you down. Claydol also opens up the option of using TGW, which allows you to disrupt your opponent while your deck sets up.
