Top Player - US - Michael D., simply a dominant Junior....I could have added a lot of other names here, but have to put a Drunken Monkey on the board!

OK, I'll be tallying the most recent votes and posting the results in my next post. After that, the speeches can start being psoted in here. Until then...

Back to back posts merged. The following information has been added:

...which is now. Here's the nominees. I'll be contacting as many as I can within the next ocuple days on the board through PM. If you know anyone listed on here who's not a Gym member or who doesn't have access to the Gym, please ask them to write a speech and feel free to psot it on their behalf. Thanks, and enjoy this more laid-back section of the Gems.

(In case anyone was curious, I broke ties by whoever was nominated first. To counter this, also also extended nominations to 6 in catagories with people in them where the bottom spot was tied. This did not extend to decks or quotes etc.)

A final side note: I ahte do do this, but there are two catagories that are extended to seven. the first is Top Player - US. For the lvoe fo all that is good and holy, APT won Worlds in his division, for God's sake. If that doesn't deserve a nomination, I don;y knwo what else a non-Master can do to get nominated. that sid her's in.

Also, there are seven judges up for Top Judge. As M45 said, there's no way you can cover all your nominations on something as important as judges in two votes. the same goes to final nominees. With three people being tied at 3 votes, i diplomatically decided to incllude them all.

Enjoy!

nope.

sorry, but if someone 'doesn't have access to the 'gym' because they are banned here, they do NOT get to have someone post anything for them. be aware that doing so will get the poster a ban of their own. this is nothing new: banned users are not allowed to have a buddy post their tourney reports etc.

Josef Bolton shouldn't be in Rookie of the Year, he was nominated for Most Improved player like three times though. What a handsome devil.

Gah, forgot about that. In that case, only those on the 'Gym will be able to post speeches. everything else will carry on as normal.

Also, Aaron curry will be added to the lsit of players in the "Most Improved Player" catagory as I missed two of his nominations.

That said, I will be PMing people about posting speeches on their catagory soon. Some people may also be asked to defend other areas, but we'll see how that goes.

As for the speeches, check the front page. the big note is the word limit: 1000 words maximum per post. If you can't get it under that, there's a problem. But don't feel like you have to write a thousand words either. this is just to put a logical cap on everything.

I look forward to seeing the speeches soon!

Since I was pressured to do it, here's my attempt at a speech:

Why should I get voted on for Best Overall Player and Best International Player?

I think listing some of my accomplishments and some comparisons will help make my point across better, seeing as I have very limited time to write this up.

First off, I'm decent at playing the game, I believe I'm beyond misplays, I don't know what that is and don't do it ever, due to the (too) many hours of playtesting and practicing against some of the other top players in the World. I also believe the acknowledgement some of the people gave me (by voting for me) shows how my skill is widely known, as well as being backed up by a good tournament record and overall average of 80% win percentage of games at Premiere level events. I was also the highest placer non-US, non JPN player at Worlds previous to Worlds '07, which was won by a deck I had some involvement with the development of it.

Second, I'm decent at building decks, every Worlds I have participated in ('04, '05, '07), I have used a 'rogue' or 'previously unthought of' deck or combination, as well as having one ready for Worlds '06 in which I could not participate and thus could not use it.

I have been involved in alot of deck building that has had some impact on the metagame, some of them were: Niniken, Queendom, MetaNite, LBS, a little involvement with Absolutions and most recently, the deck that is taking Battle Road's all over by storm: BlissCatty. Of course this wasnt solo work, and I've had AMAZING team mates to work with during the developments of such decks.

Finally, the third aspect of the Pokemon TCG: luck. I have not achieved better results in tournaments, and have not achieved my full potential in the TCG due to luck, and I know it sounds like an excuse, but when you are in a 99.8% odds of winning game situation, and you LOSE that game, you know something is wrong. Sadly this is the part that I can't control, and I think I have reached my maximum in terms of skill and deck building, if only I could reach a healthy balance of average luck, my tournament record would improve 10 times.

I hope I did that correct, and I didn't portray myself as someone cocky or whatever, I don't know. Thanks to everyone who voted for me in both categories.

Hai guise.

I'm Zach Fisher, and here's why I should be rookie of the year.

1. I play in one of, if not THE toughest metagame in the world, Florida, and I'm a household name.

2. Chris Bianchi approves.

3. I WON STATES!!

4. I went 14-0 in the most legitimate side events in the WORLD (nats '07) with Banette.

5. RAMBOLT WON WORLDS!

6. i'm a pretty nice guy in general and i try to help new kids whenever they ask and help gym members with decks when they PM me.

7. I'M ZACH FISHER!!!

I helped a lot in building decks too. I had a hand in helping Eric with speed spread, i made rambolt with josef (IT WON WORLDS), and jimmy will attest to the fact that i played a role in both destiny and ambush.

*choke* SPEECH?! *faints*

Well I suppose I'd better start by introducing myself:
My name is Steven Mason and I'm a 15 year old from Australia, currenlty in the Masters division of Pokemon TCG. Last season (06-07) I was in the seniors divison, which happened to be my first ever season of playing Pokemon TCG compedivitely.

Up until around December '06, I didn't even know that Premier events EXISTED let alone consider entering them. But, as it turned out, in Febuary '07 I rocked up to my first (I didn't sleep AT ALL the night before; jeez I was nerveous) City Championships and won the thing going 4-1 in swiss and 3-0 in eliminations. A couple of weeks later, I attened my second City Championship, and went 5-0 in swiss but unfortunently got knocked out of the first round of eliminations. I ended up coming 5th overall

In March '07, I attened my first ever State Championship which happened to fall right on my 15th birthday (31st of March FTW!). I had an awesome time even though I went 4-1 in swiss, missing out on the top cut by 4%. I ended up coming 5th overall.

I sadly missed out on going to Nationals as I couldn't afford flights or accomidation. But as it turned out through sheer dumb luck, all of those closest to me in ratings took an absolute caning at Nationals and suddenly, I found myself ranked 2nd in Australian seniors!

Despite this, I missed out on the Aisa/Pacific invite to worlds by one place.

The deck I played all though this season was one I came up with myself and that a great mate of mine, Zegnarfol worked on. Flygon EX d/Nidoqueen which was fun to play This year, I am currenlty playing FlyVire until certin cards are released for my new deck, one which will hopefully be the best thing I can create.

Through my first season of playing Pokemon TCG compeditviely, I have made many friends, and I am still making friends, people in places thousands of kilometres away from where I am.

Why should I be nominated for Rookie of the Year? Because I am a rookie. Even though my skills at the game are improving really fast, I still am a rookie compared to the likes of Yamato, Steve Silvestro and Pablo. But when you think about it, they all started off the same way I have.

To conclude this speech (if you can call it that) I'd like to say that I've never had so much fun in my life than I have had playing Pokemon TCG.

PS: Thanks Jason for nominating me. You're one of the guys who make this game fun.

Player of the Year (oops):

I'm Omar Izaguirre. Boyfriend of Zach Fisher (ROOKIE OF THE YEAR!). I helped in the success of Rgon. I went 13-1 with Lunasol at two battle road (SO GOOD). I like people and people like me.

You Aren't A Rookie But I Vote 4 U

Just a reminder I think we should all keep in mind, Zach you just helped me remember:

4e. If you post your votes anywhere on the 'Gym before the results are posted, your votes for all catagories will be nullified.

4f. When voting, please indicate your PokeGym SN or nominee name (if not a 'Gym member) and your vote for each catagory.

4g. You may only vote for one person in each catagory. Voting for more than one person in a catagory will result in your votes in that catagory being nulled.
