Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

The top 4 most broken cards in this format

Let's not turn this into a poll - polls get locked.

If you want to contribute your thoughts, at least take the time to back them up.

It's not Luxray X that makes the format unbalanced, it's Poke Turn. Crobat G would be bad as well if it wasn't for Poke Turn, right? Yeah.

Unown G is NOT broken, this card balance overpowered attacks out. This card is good for the game, not bad. DCE isn't bad either, otherwise Gyarados, Jumpluff and one-energy attacker would rule everything (which they do anyway? well.) I also disagree that Claydol is broken, but Uxie and BTS are. I drop one card to draw up to seven cards. That's kinda good, isn't it? If you put it that way, Power Spray seems like a balance card like Unown G, but it isn't. In the end, Power Spray and Poke Turn would be somewhat OK if it wasn't for Cyrus. They tried to counter broken cards with even stronger ones, which is just wrong.

So IMO, the Top4:
1) Cyrus for grabbing Turn, Spray, Egain, SP Radar
2) Uxie
3) BTS
4) Sableye or something like that, idk.

Finally someone mentions Spiritomb... well for one thing Spiritomb counters Power Spray and Poketurn.
People had to start playing Luxray GL lvl.x in order to counter Spiritomb. Even Ruiner in his article had mentioned out for Spiritomb in his Jumpluff article.

it seems people are just listing top 4 cards instead of top 4 broken cards

none of these cards are really "broken" imo, in fact i think pokemon is probably the most balanced tcg around. Coming from yugioh where everyone ran ftk decks, im glad im playing pokemon.

See the problem is that your all confusing "broken" with "good combos".

To me its like this;

1. Power Spray
- Many pokemon have 1 time use powers. The ability to block it is broken.

2. Mesprit (LA)
- Just like power spray, only now its searchable and less ssituational.

3. Dusknoir (DP)
- "Shuffle your claydol away!" That power is a little more then unfair. And it can be used over and over. BROKEN.

4. Dialga G Lv X
- The ability to turn off all PokeBodies other then Sp pokemon is unfair or broken.

5. Feraligatr Prime
- A power that lets you fully power up a water pokemon in 1 turn is broken.

Broken for me is anything that enables the less skilled player to win without any sense of strategy, also cards that keep lots of other really nice and interesting combos out of the format.

Uxie- singlehandedly created one of the worst formats in years. If there's anything I blame for creating a format where almost every single viable deck runs on one energy, it's this card. Now before you argue that it's used in everything, it helps fast decks far more than it helps slower ones, because the slower ones never set up, they're too busy getting ohkoed on the first turn. Can't wait for this to be gone and we can get around to rebalancing the game.

Poketurn- luxray and crobat wouldn't be half as bad if this wasn't released, yet next format it might be one of the few things keeping us from playing nothing but gengar prime post-rotation, go figure.

Luxray- cheap gust shouldn't be in pokemon, another card that sucks skill out of the game and forces everyone to play fast decks.

Power spray- makes good ideas suck.

Above all else, I can't stand the fact that most of the top decks are running on one energy attackers. I miss having a few turns to breathe so I can set up. Fast formats suck.

Yeah, agree with you completely that fast formats suck. And Uxie is the card that made this happen. It sucks. Claydol was fine as the main draw source. There really was no reason to throw Uxie into the mix. And the Power Creep was just ridiculous. Finally they settled down when they brought out HGSS. BUT, I think 1 energy attacks are still gonna own next format in the form of Kingdra Prime and Donphan Prime in the early season. BUT, everything will be a lot slower hopefully.

1.) Luxray
2.) Poke Turn
3.) Uxie
4.) Power Spray

Luxray is the BCIF above all else.

Poke Turn is what makes it work.

Uxie is a one-drop instant draw.

Power Spray, as others have said, has made entire decks unplayable.

From what I have read, people are just listing cards that are stapled in good decks. (which almost all try avoiding own style play.) When you dislike a card you build your deck to counter that card. If you don't like trainers you go about finding ways to keep your opponent tool locked. If you not into sp pokemon you Find a way to make Rapidash (w/ Wild Guard) work. I mean there is a ponyta with acension, seriously is it that hard to play?

For me, I am disliking some of the newer HGSS pokemon. Only because the have stage1's with Hp of stage2's but then i look at Primeape w/ Top Chop and see that more Hp means more damage.

1 unown g
this card is a format breaker in the fact the format would be totally different if this card wasnt around.

2 cyrus conspiracy
this card imo single handly makes sps playable. its there engine and plus its splashable into anyhtng that is going to run 1-1 luxray tech

3 rare candy
this card is what makes anything that is stage 2 playable. without candy the format would be either alot slower or nothing stage 2

4gengar fainting spell
sure there are many ways to get around fainting spell but still, the chance of knocking out a pokemon when you are is incredibly broken.

i think you guys are over estimating luxray gl x. yes its broken as all get out, but thats because of poketurn and the cyrus engine

What is up with y'all and unown G? Like who still plays more than 1 of those cards?
It's a good card, but more of a tech now. Gengar and Machamp just aren't what they used to be, and status effects are very rare too. I just don't really see why everybody thinks Unown G is so broken. Like, really?

My top 4:

1. Luxray GL X: Easily, and STILL, the best card in the format. A gust with its power, two for 60, and the benefits behind it from being an SP are all astonishing. I see this thing continuing to be the BCIF for next year as well.

2. Garchomp C X: The Healing that this guy has is pretty nice, but the 80 snipe is just amazing. That 80 snipe is beyond useful, with free prizes, or, given fast set up, taking something important out quick. And with DCE around, it's only been stronger (not to say it wasn't amazing before).

3. Pokemon Communication: I'm really shocked no one has said this yet. So what if its blocked by Spiritomb, the fact that it's an SP Radar, essentially, that can be used in anything, combined with the draw we have in this format is pretty sweet. It's really what makes Jumpluff run as well as it does.

4. Broken Time Space: I definitely call this card broken. Despite there also being Rare Candy, the fact that this is around only further breaks things like Jumpluff, allowing it for that turn one set up of not just Jumpluff's, but also things like multiple Claydol. Further, it allows for Pluffs to not have to keep using Candy. And, of course, it benefits other decks like Kingdra, or Donphan.

Had this been a top 10, it would've been easier, as that 4th spot was hard to occupy considering the other broken cards like Jumpluff (as I've constantly mentioned), Expert Belt, things like Power Spray, Poke Turn, etc.
