*coughcreationistscough*If the bible was proven wrong surely churched would be empty throughout the World.
Post 113.That was sort of my point. Finite chance Infinite reward = Worthwhile gamble ie Pascal's Wager.

Of course. You can't know anything to be absolutely true.time for some controversial thought
how do you know that when we die, lucifer doesnt judge us?
how do you know that worshipping god wont condemn you to a fate worse than that of an atheist when you die?
simple, you dont
That statement is very bold. Many ways? Do you mean historically? Scientifically?the bible has been proven wrong in so many ways its ridiculous
I've read everything on here, discussed this topic with many people on both sides, and cannot think of anyone that has said "I know the Bible is true"; they say "I believe/ have faith in the Bible".and please, dont post here saying that you know the bible to be true, you dont
no one does, so dont ruin the potential for a good coutner arguement by puting that in
thank you in advance
people are too stuborn about there religious views to allow them to be spoiled by silly things like facts
That is a very naive answer. Most people are stubborn. Not just religious people, not just atheists-people in general. Creationists don't "ignore facts". The big bang theory isn't fact, just like all the other theories out there. There may very well be a lot of evidence, but it is by no means fact. Grouping people and claiming your theories as fact are the same things you claim "all those stubborn religious people" to be doing.*coughcreationistscough*
That's exactly what I was trying to point out. So, case in point:Most people are stubborn.
Genesis is false. Period. Get over it.Creationists don't "ignore facts".
First off, I was referring to evolution and not the big bang (meaning this thread was actually on-topic for the first time in a couple of pages). Second, it's not the theory the people ignore so much as the facts behind it (also, you might like to read up on what it means to be a scientific theory). You don't have to think there ever was a big bang to know that the cosmos didn't come into being in the space of a couple of days. That is a fact. That part of the bible has indeed been proven false, yet people still believe it because it's written there, which runs contrary to M_U's assertion. Even if the entire bible were "proven false" (which seems impossible to me), I wouldn't put it past some people to keep believing. The big bang theory isn't fact, just like all the other theories out there. Actually it could mean thousands of years. I had a study about this. It never specified they just translated it into a couple of days it just said that In a period of time God created so and so and rested but it was translated into days. ZaktheGeek Please know all of your facts before accusing something ( not trying to flame be mean or rude ).
Actually, I'm aware of that objection. This, however, clears it up.Actually it could mean thousands of years. I had a study about this. Not that the timespan issue is the only problem with Genesis. There are more blatant absurdities to be found, like plant life predating the sun.
