Toys R Us Pokemon Play day ?

I went to Toys 'R' Us today, only to find everyone there playing Yu-Gi-Oh. The associate running the event from last time said he was not having it; it resulted from the very low turnout (six players) last time. It is bad to miss out on what promo cards there were.

I went there today and only 1 person showed up...me :( One of the employees was there with the deck and battled with me and of course I beat her. I got a Chimecho promo and won a Pokemon Card Holder Booklet. Then I traded for the Latias in her deck :)

i went there to cover for the regular person (car crash)
i went there and said are the league kits here for yugioh, and the kit for pokemon.

they are like *droold*arglarg*zombie*

so i asked if i could look for them. they said yes sence i was covering for the regular person.
i found yugioh and duel masters, and thelast pokemon playday stuff.

i talked to the manager, and she was enbarest, and told me to tell them that they will do it next week.
so im going to go in everyday, and make sure it is in the right place.

idiots :(

Our OP gym is just about 200 yards from TRUS. But of course since we are the Pokemon folks, they did not bother with it. Oddly though today we had 35 people show up for open play. We average about 20 on a given Saturday at the most. Lots of new kids, very few of our regulars. Looks like a good sign that Pokemon is on the move.

I didn't go due to sudden illness.
Probably best anyway. Yesterday they didn't even know of the event. 9:30am-11:30am is a super crazy time for any league. I guess it's a way of limiting the amount of people who come.

I went today and their was a total of 4 people including myself.
Anyways, i played the demo for fun and got chimecho.
I got bored fast so i asked if i could run a mini tourney and he let me!(Real nice guy)
I won the 4-person tourney and the guy gave me tne TRAINER KIT FOR FREE!!!

Kids their didnt know what modified was :) :) :)

We called about 5 TRUs in our area. Of them, only one knew what we were even talking about, and said they were having it on Saturday. We got there and found the Yu-Gi-Oh folks playing in a League, and the "Event Coordinator" said he had not received the Pokemon stuff yet, so no Pokemon Play-Day. Very disappointed. TRU Management seems to have some good ideas, but they rarely work out....

My brother and I went to our local TRU, and only 4 people showed up (all of which were from our already established Brookfield league). So, I played a game and got my Chimecho. However, there was nothing there to do. The attendant kept the Trainer Kits for himself, didn't give us any of the materials, and didn't know what the heck he was doing. Then, the Yu-Gi-Oh morons kicked us out (along with the Play Day attendant who was also a YGO moron). So, us 4 wandered the store 2 times through. Then we went outside to wait for our parents for an hour.

I will never, ever go to TRU for anything ever again. EVER!

Last month, the TRU in our area invited our son, Austin, to be the "Guest of Honor" at the TRU PlayDay, and it went over really well. He was doing the demo, and the staff was treating him like a star. They kept telling everyone that he's even won a trip to Disney World! The people that showed up were mostly kids -- with their parents, and they all loved the idea of having Austin there. The kids enjoyed learning from him, and the parents were impressed.

We had a conflict in our schedule, and couldn't have Austin there yesterday (for July Play Day), so I'm pretty sure one of the employees sort of ran it while he was running the regular Yu-Gi-Oh League.

I had a great time at Play Day. :) Our attendant gave us 3 Chimecho each, and I played with a few people and learned some new strategies. :D

I guess St. Louis is the one place TRU is good. In June I went there and even though there were only 3 people there(including me)we all got a Beldum Promo, a hidden legends booster pack, and a 4 card display case. Now to tell you about this month. I went to TRU and found they were playing Yu-gi-oh. So I left. I kinda collect the cards so I went back with mine and had a pretty good time. Then I saw the pokemon cards in the assistant's box and asked if I could have a look. I thought they were a deck or collection. Anyways I saw the Chimecho Promo and found out she decided to just run Yu-gi-oh since everyone showed up for that.

Good? But you showed up there for Pokemon Day, and found them playing Yu-gi-oh instead. That seems to be a consistent complaint -- that they much favor Yu-gi-oh over Pokemon....

So, you're store is just basically like the other TRU stores, huh?

Yes, but in the end I got the Chimecho Promo.
Even though Vince got them the same day and handed them out. :(
But then again I'm the only one who got it from TRU. :D
And I know it doesn't matter where I got it so please don't make a remark on it.

Okay, no remarks on HOW you got your Chimecho Promo... :)

How about CONGRATS on getting it? ;)

Yeah, not all Toys R Us stores are bad. Ours is actually pretty good. I just don't know what they did for the July date, but I know that last month, it was GREAT!

But why Aug. 28 for their next event? I have to go there at 9:30, leave at 11:00, and make it to the prerelease at 11:45. Oh yeah that will be a fun day. On top of that it's my sister's birthday so I hope I can leave for 7 hours(with a brief visit for lunch)without her being upset. And she's 5. She'll probably kill me. I guess I better go write both(even though I'll only get to do one)on the calendar. Vince had better have the promo that TRU was giving out that day.

I didn't even know that there's an August date scheduled? I thought it was only June and July!

I'm calling that weekend the "Chicago Pokemon Marathon"

First, on Saturday, is the 2 hours of Pokemon Playday at my local TRU.

Then, it's off to another TRU closer to my league for more free stuff.

Then, it's the FR/LG prerelease at Pastimes, probably starting around 1ish pm.

Then, on Sunday, it's a 1.5 hr drive up to Brookfield for ANOTHER Fr/LG pre, again bringing possibly the best player that I know to that event as a secondary driver.

All in all, it's gonna be a GREAT weekend!!!
