Alright! Everything is settled and it looks like I'll be able to make it out to Plano for the Texas Championships! Hmm..,I'll have to train up my pokies in the GBA and decide which deck to bring...

Like Xeno said everything is settled and if Xeno will be there I will two.

Yeah, it is a long drive to Plano from here(Houston). I'm thinking of going there a day ahead and sleeping in a hotel or something. Then I can be well-rested for the main tournament the next morning.

Tell it like it is. It looks like maybe Xeno,Jim and I will be coming a day or two early before the tourney but theres a very good chance we'll be there.
Sorry about the news that theres a slim chance of you going we'll miss  you if you can't go but maybe we'll get lucky and your plans will change :D.

Obi Wan might be joining us too and then there's Brian(I don't think he posts here a lot so I don't know his s/n). So there will be 5 of us being crammed in there. Wow, a possibility of 8 Houstonians vying for the State Championship!

Brains S/C pokemaster101. Five in one car small as jims this is nuts and awsome at the same time we should have tons of fun. we'll be slbs the hole time.

So it looks like I may be the only one going from San Antonio, not that much peeps play Pokemon down here. And the drive there is going to be hectic, but hey its Pokemon.

Doors open at 12. IF there is a gba tourney it will start shortly after that. Then the States promptly after gba ends. But you really should call Creative Gift Baskets(972-633-9393) to get the official times and if there is a GBA.

IMHO opinion tourney's cannot be delayed for any Players or travelers. There's no way to please everyone.

Sorry to be the barer of bad news but if there's a WILL, you'll FIND a way!!

It says on the title of the post that the event starts at 12. Does this mean the GBA tourneys and such will start at 12, or wil the main event start at 12? Houston players(myself included) will never be there before 12 to start the main event, considering a 5 hour drive. If the main event starts at 12, would it be possible to move it to maybe 1 to 1:30? 'm sure many Houston players will be attending.

Here's the tentative schedule for the day:
10am Registration Begins
10:30 am Side Event-GBA
10:30 am Side Event-Modified Constructed AND Unlimited Constructed (8-man Tourney)
12:00pm STATE CHAMPIONSHIP
3-3:30pm Side Event-Booster Draft $15 entry fee

Side Event Information
ALL Side Events are Single Elimination Tournaments-

GBA (FREE) will be limited to 10 people
Multiple GBA Tournaments will be held if it is required by attendance.
See Spectron's post for floor rules, We are checking on the use of Colloseum Pokemon and Girachi, but Ninetendo hasn't posted any updated rules for the GBA format-

MODIFIED & UNLIMITED (FREE) Side Event Tournaments:
Limited to 8 per tournament
The Unlimited Tournament will only be held if we have enough interested participants.

BOOSTER DRAFT ($15) The Booster draft will begin at the conclusion of the State Tournament.
I'm still need to determine if this will be a booster draft OR sealed event.

STATE TOURNAMENT- DECK LIST are required. This does NOT have to be on official paperwork, so you can print you Deck List at home and save yourself time at the event. Just make sure that you have the Pokemon, Trainers and Energy listed in seperate sections.
Team Magma/Team Aqua cards are legal for this event.

Judges for this event will be:
Master Prof. Sam Cho
Prof Kristy Miller (AKA Prof Torchic)
Prof Gilbert Valdes Jr.

Premiere TO-Mr Chris

Thanks,
Prof Torchic

~Patriarch of Dallas City Champion Fame~

Let me answer that one....Yes, they will be sanctioned by "PUI"; as stated in the PTO's emails from PUI. By the way, I beleive that all tournaments at a "Premier Event" are to be ran as "Age-Modified Swiss". As stated in another email from PUI. I guess that we need to check past emails for sure.

Later.

Lol... I spend too much time on stuff like that.... Though I doubt anything official by Nintendo will be said.... to bad too. They really need to get on this ball

Are you allowing Pokemon from the Japanese games as welll (1st gen Pokes not included in RuSa)?

we are coming too!

Hey all,

I will be making my an apperance this sunday. James will also be attending. Plus, as an added bonus... My daughter Chelsey has decided to give it a shot again. (she hasn't played since the ECSTS, 2001).

Couple questions...

1) Could someone please post the address for the event? makes it easier for mapquest if that is available.
2) Will you be making POP ID's available for those who do not have one?
3) What time will the doors open? (dont want to get there too early)

We will be giving the unlimited tourney a shot before the main event.
So dig out those Slowking decks, I got somthin' for ya! ;)

Peace,
jimmy

one more thing

Hey all,
thanx for the answers to my questions. However, I do have one more.

I understand that there will be an unlimited tourney before the main event. My question is which set of rules will this be run under? Wizards or Nintendo? The reason I ask is some decks cannot function the same with the rules nintendo has adopted, and I want to be prepared.

thanx,
jimmy

Simply put, there are no "Wizards" or "Nintendo" rules... there are simply the rules of the game. Period, end of discussion. It was never Wizards game, they simply produced the cards here for us, and kept up with all the grunt work with tourneys, rulings, ect. Not taking away from anything they did, they did a great job for the most part, but it has always been Nintendo's game. If Wizards were still running things, we would still have the updates in the rules. Though it is fun to remember and play with the old rules, that is exactly what should be done with them, be played for fun. Anything official and sanctioned will always be played under the official rules, which have been the same since RuSa EX set was released. Do I 100% agree with this, no, I liked some of the old rules, but the game has changed, you simply have to change with it.... or leave it alone. Ok, maybe I got worked up for nothin, and I apologize, but this seems like an uneccesary question to me....

JEES, Spec get over yourself! How nice of you to point out the seemingly obvious. However it wasn't obvious. To my recollection Unlimited WAS A WIZARDS FORMAT! And another thing Pokemon was not nintendo's until WoTC lost the bid to renew the printing rights. Then, and only then, did it become a nintendo game. The only company that can truely stake claim to pokemon is that company in Japan (PUI, I believe). If you need the articles proving that see me at the tourney.

Again, just who do you think you are? This seems a little too personal for me. You don't know me, or anything about what I have done for this game. The lenths that I have traveled to keep this game going. Its not easy to keep this game rolling with few interested people. And the rules change didnt help. It must have been easy here in Texas, You have a very dedicated group of people will ing to roll with the punches. Where I am from they weren't.

If it were uneccesary, I would not have asked it! I needed to know before I busted out my steel chansey on you. Oh wait? you don't even play unlimited do you?

If you dont have anything nice to say, don't say it at all! And if you feel the urge to say it anyhow, do it in person! You know who I am!
