I like this set in that it actually made it a lot easier to get certain cards for collectors / competitive players alike compared to the distribution in Japan.
Legends from L3
Cards from Leafeon Vs pack
Cards from L1, L2
Domino Pizza Promo
and last but very importantly,
PDC promo Umbreon / Espeon / Raichu --- those 3 cards alone will cost one >USD$1200 to obtain (or otherwise personally earn through OP, which the secondary cost is likely greater).
That is four, five different venues you have to go through to obtain.
While in the English release those are all made obtainable in one set.
I personally would say the English sets have been generous at localizing/releasing in a way that makes it very easy
for every players to obtain the otherwise very expensive/scarce promo cards in the original Japan environment.
Sets have been containing a large proportion of cards not preferable in the current competitive environment, i.e. 80% of a set have been comprised of 'useless' cards.
Approximately close to that amount of all are such cards in a given format. Certain staple cards in DPt have been overpowered and thus overused, making many of the otherwise usable new cards looking obsolete.
(I bought both LL and L3 and it though many new tactic arise from cards in those sets. It still felt like 80 of the cards are only for collector's purpose nonetheless) We are likely to see a competitive role in more of the current 'junk cards' in the future when DPt is rotated.
Keep in mind TPCi does not 'create' cards, or otherwise putting 'filler cards' in. They merely localize what's already been made. On that note, box / pack ratio, and card quality are couple other more legitimate issues we could complain on =)
