Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

US Nationals Info Announced

Oh wow... the Swiss being split over 2 days means that the endurance factor won't play a huge role like it usually does.

It sucks for those of us in So.Cali who are 2K miles away

But we had worlds here in '09 so I guess I can't complain lol.

I will be posting details in the OP forum shortly. :thumb:

[DarthPika]SHORTLY IS NOT SOON ENOUGH FOR ME!!! IT MUST BE YESTERDAY!!![/DarthPika] :thumb:

I'm kool. Whenever you got the info, I think we ALL would like to see it!

I'm a big fan of the three day event. Does this mean Nats will be run as one flight?

The MA division will be flighted.

The time between rounds at this event is already longer than we would like. Having one person enter 400 match results per round would make that problem much worse.

Wow, the location is like closer to Chicago compared to St. Louis. That's perfect! An even closer location from where I live in a pretty good city is great to host Nats.

Yep, I can't wait for the tournament. Definetly it'll be very exciting.

Oh yeah. Just noticed something...

Registration will be guaranteed to the first 270 Junior Division players, 270 Senior Division players, and 640 Masters Division players. While we will attempt to accommodate every player wishing to participate, we cannot guarantee seating beyond these limits.

That seems kinda small, dontcha think? I mean, US Nationals last year had 680 Masters, and I seriously don't see that number dropping at ALL for this year. In fact, I can quite easily see it rise another 20-30%. Seniors was 283, and Juniors were 225. There were 1188 players last year. The limit for this year is 1180.

Even if attendance stagnates for this year, we'd still be over the limit. I sincerely hope that PCI has a significant overflow plan, because this one will be HUGE. My rough estimations would place this tournament at about 985/350/250=1585, and that's assuming the growth rates I calculated for last year's Regionals. (44.8, 22.1, 9.91) I'll revise this estimate after the two weekends of States this year, but I'd be a little concerned about space again this year.

if we expect similar growth from previous numbers, we should be going well over the limit by hundreds of players. id probably never play an event again if i traveled a thousand miles and spent hundreds on trying to play.

dont give me this register early crap, either, because that relies on slippery slope fallacy- you can always register earlier. the problem is not people registering or coming late- its a pure lack of seats.

My estimates say by about 400 players, but I'm going to wait until after States to start ringing the alarm bells...

It's not bad. Columbus is more expensive to get to, St. Louis a little cheaper but not by much. It's about $250 from Southern California to fly roundtrip.

Great choice on the location, IMO. And that'd be awesome if a three-day Nats meant more swiss rounds (which I would assume is true considering it says Top 16). GREAT choice, I am impressed.

Great News!! Not the dates that I blocked off, but I was blessed not to have conflicts, thus we can go!! (I had 2 meetings that could have been planed on that date, but missed!!.... whoo!)
Location Great!! Indy is a Great Town!! New Airport opened last year!! Convention Center and Pokemon Love It.
2 Day Open Swiss!! --- GREAT!!!! Hey, I will still play even if I start 0 and 8. Some of us just love these thing.
