Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Virginia's HeartGold SoulSilver Prereleases

Flight 1 is full!

Flight 2 is wide open. If you miss the chance to prereg, flight 2 will be the one that you want to walk in for.

It doesn't look like I'll be coming now, no thanks in part to the snow. Unless there's a major break in the weather (extremely unlikely), then consider me a no-show, as much as I hate saying that...

Mark, it is clear as I write this in Fairfax--but I'll take you off the prereg list. Thanks for the update.

almost killed myself in the snow trying to get there, i wont be able to atend today sorry....

Yeah. We slid off the road (no cars were coming from the other side... Thank GOD!)
We hit 3 spins in the road an hung off the elevated cliff-like bank on the side of the road.

I drove the car off of the "cliff edge" and we came home doing about 30 MPH.
(we were only halfway to Fairfax at this point)

We slipped and slid all the way home.

Sorry I couldn't continue on to Judge for you guys today.
I drove until it was no longer drivable. :frown:

Without a doubt, if it is too treacherous, do stay home.

To anyone who missed Flight 1: If you want to wait to see if the storm clears up or roads get better, you're welcomed to walk in for Flight 2.

That said, traffic report:
1) Route 7 (Leesburg Pike) going into Falls Church: as of 11am, it was bad. Unplowed. Don't know what VDOT is thinking.
2) Route 50 (Arlington blvd) to Route 66: As of 11:30am, fair condition. Plows are on the road and there's enough traffic to keep the roads drivable.
3) I-495: As of 11:30am, traffic is slow. Roads are fair condition.
3) Route 66 west: As of 11:30am, fair condition. The left lanes are pretty clear due to traffic; right lanes are dusted over. Traffic is steady.
4) Route 66 East: As of 11:30am, lots of traffic flowing slowly.
5) Residential roads: Mostly unplowed. Snow is fine to drive in but hills are unfriendly.

You guys are having an unfortunate series of travels as far as Pokemon goes this year... Glad you guys are safe.

Man, I hope the snow lets up for Midlo tomorrow. I'm not sure if anyone want to prerelease on super bowl sunday...

The Midlothian Prerelease scheduled for Sunday, January 31 has been postponed until Sunday, February 7. Because it's a "Super" Day, registration will begin at 11:00 AM and we hope to crack packs at 11:30. That should give all you plenty of time to watch the ponytas beat the saints.....

I'm home from Fairfax.. It is NOT pretty in Midlothian right now....... but I almost made it all the way back to my driveway, so I'll call it a win.
You guys who made it today are just FANatics!! I luv ya!!!

Tell me about it. It's like "EPIC Adventure time with the Washingtons" whenever we load into the car and TRY to travel to a Pokemon event.

This one was life-threatening though. Usually, it's just a quirky car malfuntion thing; this one rocked us.

I'm going to have to make a Lemony Snickett's shirt if this keeps up :/

Anyway...

Did Everyone ELSE Make It Back Home Ok ?

I am so very glad everyone is safe!! I've never had to postpone events before this season, and now it's happened 2X in 5 weeks. It's an unbelievably tough call whether to call these events off or not. We were sooo close to calling yesterday, but HW already had players waiting to play!! But, as the snow totals began to go beyond anyone's expectations, it became apparent that we couldn't safely run Midlo on Sunday --heck we didn't know at that point if we'd even get home!!
Still, this AM I got a few calls from folks sitting in the parking lot of BC Games, wondering about the prerelease..
So--(and I'll announce this at all events from now on)
"The Organized Play website is run by The Pokémon Company, International. Their offices are closed on weekends, so to obtain up-to-the minute status on events, please visit Virginia Pokémon or the Virginia area of "Tournaments and Organized Play" on the Poke Gym.'

I do apologize to those who came to Midlo today only to find no event.
