unless one is coming from out of province with no car. hopefully there are enough generous drivers with extra space to assist with potential ride sharing from the nats hotel. otherwise, a 20 minute drive is almost an eternity when taking public transit or expensive with a taxi. either way, dexter just wanted to be prepared to make sure we're not late for terry's tournament!
OK, there is a Best Western in G'town if anyone wants to stay there, its still going to be quite a walk to the tournament site (~1 km). However, just to be clear public transit is really not an option. Those of us who live west of Toronto, know that none of the 'burbs ever got the memo on transit. The only Public Transit Option would be to take Toronto public transit to Downtown Toronto, a GO train out to Georgetown and either cab or walk (~2 km) to the venue. Sharing a cab from the Double Tree is probably the way to go. Rough estimate would be $50 for a metered cab from the Double Tree to the venue, I often take a cab from the airport home, and that's about $65 (but you pay extra for an airport cab) -- gotta love monopoly businesses.
Yeah I was just wondering because I have no idea what the traffic is like and such. Maybe we could work out a standard rate with a taxi or something. If not well I am sure with a full taxi and everyone splitting it won't be very expensive. Looking forward to the event.
IS the venue a sports stadium or a card shop ? lol
Venue is the town's hockey arena. There's a big hall upstairs that hold's Georgetown's Hockey hall of fame, and on top of that can hold 100 - 120 Pokemon players. Oh yes Ron Maclean is from Georgetown.
I'm just leaving Colombia (that would be the one in South America), so final pre-registration will be posted by the end of the weekend.
