Whicker's Bickers - Round 2 (2007 Edition)

I have to say that I don't see what the problem with debating is. I could not read all the posts because most did not seem like debating. I am not saying any particular person because I am stating how I feel. The whole thing about this is I would like the Regionals to be in Dallas area. I will not lie and say for any other reason but for making it easier for me. I don't mind it being in Houston because I would find a way to make it because of my nephew. He is worth it to me.

I made it happen for him to make the Kansas States and he got his first ever 1st place in a States. Talk about feel good about traveling. The day before he won 1 game because he was more interested in running around playing. Could tell he was not into the game because he did not even blink at the loss of a game. He was having too much fun. We go 2 states (actually more than that since Kansas had the states in top northeast corner) and I thought "what is wrong with me doing this" and talked with him. Next day he goes undefeated and gets his States.

I will travel and have done it for him. I made Nationals happen last year and that is where he gots his Worlds trip. I would be very happy for having things closer for myself.

I respect that Birch is willing to state reasons why he did not try for Regionals. I accept and applaud what he does sacrifice to try and make this game grow. I respect that Cook is willing to go through all he does to try and give local and visiting players a chance to play in venues that will hold all the players. I know I have added 1 or 2 to his tallies at the end of tournaments and that normally meant at least 2 more since was traveling with others. If Birch and Old Man are attempting Regionals next year then this seems like a subject that needs to wait till next years Regional is over and then compare. I have to say that with the leagues popping up in the D/FW area then have wonder how it will turn out because by next year those new leagues might make for some nice additions to numbers.

The thing about this is even if the 10- numbers weren't as good, the Texas regional would still be the #1 or #2 by attendance. Had there been, say...40 Juniors, that would put us just a bit above FL and Illinois. :thumb:

As much as I love my Oklahomies, this year's drop in actual Oklahoman players (last year was the really good case for holding the event in DFW) at their own state championship, as well as only 4 showing up to The Woodlands...that seals the deal from now on, guys. :(

On the plus side, what few Oklahomans showed up...did well! Will got third and Junior barely missed the cut on 5-2. That counts for something, no? :)
