Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Why do we NOT have a TCG Videogame like Yugio?

The hardest part about making the game work would be the AI opponents. Surely you could make the programe so you can only play via Wifi, altho that would seem only half complete wouldn't it?

Just think about it. Consider all the decisions you have to make, even while playing a simple deck like machamp. Which pokemon do you start with, which pokemon do you search for first? Which cards can you put under your deck with cosmic power? Do i need to attach an energy to the active?

Im no computer programmer, but it seems like that'll be hard to do.

Nobody cares about battling AIs, we care about wifi. An idea for this game (if it does ever happen):

use real big name players (ex. Jason K)

I would buy a Nintendo DSi JUST to play this game. I haven't purchased a recent-gen handheld, but I definitely would if I could play the card game over Wifi. That would make my day. It could also allow me to stay current in the format during long breaks for college when I don't have leagues around.

It's even harder when you try to hammer that into a program that will run on a the DSi without appearing to slow to a crawl on the 133 MHz processor. This thing was designed for relatively simple games, not to be the next Deep Blue. And Deep Blue only had to pick a piece and a new place for it. This is another dimension entirely.

Then again that was back in 1980 so...who knows ;p

Either way, just bringing the game to wifi has limitless potential. It can include so many different aspects to prevent it from being the next apprentice or redshark. Finally theres no arguement, the game will become a top seller practically instantly. The result would add several more new players and returning players to the TCG.

With a cautious approach, the wifi tcg would develop to the point where primere events could be held online. Even world qualifiers! Imagine the kind of publicity/ buying leverage that would bring. "Play the pokemon tcg wifi and you could qualify for a paid trip to *insert worlds 2010 location here* !"

Hopefully, by this, you mean that there would be an individual tournament for the TCG videogame. That would actually be rather entertaining...

Though I kind of doubt it would be as 'profitable' in the prize department as the real TCG, but I wouldn't particularly care either way on that. x3 A trip to World's alone would be nice.

I'd also buy the DSI just for this game.

I still play my GBA version just because. Only thing I'd like to see different is the present of "tournaments". The original game had no tournament's except the lame Challenge Hall or whatever. I'd love to see a Worlds like tournament in that game.

But how can nintendo, or whoever would run the tournaments, make sure no one is cheating. It couldn't be made fair. For sure people would hack their game and give themselves cards.

Why is it that we never hear from any "officials" on important matters like these? :p

It's probably a more sensitive process to comment on projects, be they pending or not; however, it'd be nice to figure out whether or not they even view this as a viable option.

I don't understand...

We already have a TCG game out, with a different format. how hard do you think it would be to edit the text for most attacks/mechanics, and change the artwork? its all the same thing- there's no reason they couldnt make like 16 gyms and 4 tournaments and 1 championship. it's just pressing ctrl+v again and changing "tim" to "bob" and changing card numbers. you guys are talking about how difficult it would be to create a game with AI that can battle you- and we already had a game released NINE years ago, and you guys are wondering if it can be done?
We now have the processing power of the wii if we need. i can imagine a way to get patch updates for different sets. nintendo could easily sell every new set, which can be added to your wii pokemon game. you can trade on the internet with other wii users, and battle (maybe with their own miis!), or if they dont want that much complexity- just make it updateable via updates/new releases of it. You can release Supreme Victors as a new patch for X dollars, for example, and it would just update the code. There is no manufacturing- it's just one guy entering in some code for a little bit for major potential and less overhead. a wii game should definitely have the capability of an AI that can respond to you. perhaps one that can metagame (you can have triggers like the opponent will try to take a type advantage over you, or if the game has a classification system of decks like 'spread' or 'stage 2' or 'sp' if it has like, 3+ cyrus and a combination of 8 or more sp tools, it would be classed into SP and the computer could try to make decks around cards like machamp, gengar, flygon X, etc etc. Why not?
Cyrus said it well- if they have the time to develop a game like trozei or remake the same game, or make games like pearl, why not just refurbish an old game, the TCG game, and release it. or we can always go big and make it a better selling game, but really, how hard would it be to just update it and release it!?

i still play this game ;X

Not only that ...

but...

Imagine tournament prizes that they could offer from a game like this!

like... Become a CHARACTER in the game with your own decklist and strategy programmed in!
like... an all-paid pass WORLDS (somebody already suggested this)

Just like we wait around and read spoilers for card sets, could you not see us FEINDIN' to hear about next set of virtual opponents (or opponent upgrades)?

How hott would it be to battle Brock, Cynthia, ASH !!??

c'mon man... you KNOW that would make us ALL lose sleep.

They'd have to create a NEW forum on the gym just to house an area to contain the buzz from this game.

"hey, how has ANYBODY found a way around Professor Oak's insane Sandshrew deck?"
ahahahhaa.. i can just see the topics coming out of this now..

COULD YOU IMAGINE THE DIALOG ABOUT ADVANCED TCG STRATEGY WE'D BE DROPPIN' ON THE DAILY BECAUSE OF THIS??

don't even get me started about the Person-2-person live play applications of this man...

To be able to take the RedShark concept to a virtual reality hi-tech Videogame experience would be the END of after 9 p.m. television for me i'm sure... LOL (i test online after when daughter goes to bed)

could you imagine that?

Im sure I'd have to buy a second wii because my brother would never let me play!

Ryan, I know we had this game 9 years ago with AI opponents. They were all horrable. Sure they had some decent decks, all of which were extremly straight forward. However the AI's were never strong.

Even the technology and skill of 9 year old AI is still very appealing to us. I would be fine with the same technology- simply being updated.

I don't think they should stop there, but even the same game rehashed with new cards would be an amazing game. Even though all the trainers sucked and you could rig the pikachu coin to always get heads- the game was very fun.

it would so awesome to have something like that so those of us who don't use red shark could play that and to make it even more awesome they could have wifi

can we have some officials? :p i think we should send an e-mail to pokemon with a bunch of us on there. they could sell this a lot.

There is absolutly not questioning that. Even more so considering there as been nothing but positive review here just saying we're okay without new AI and that we'd pay for new sets.

The investment it would take nintendo to create this game is practically guarenteed to have a positive ROI with PRESALES ALONE.

Which ever department in charge of marketing and development that passed up this oppertunity already should be embarassed beyond belief.
