Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

World Championships COMPLETED RESULTS

This all sounds lovely (and i have a LOT of respect for Fulop) but what about the person that would have it into top-16 had Fulop won?

I think Ross has done an awesome job and his deck sounds so awesome it makes me giddy (although, as my gf pointed out, i would never be able to play such a deck myself). I'm backing him to win and i want him to, i just wish people wouldn't scoop to put some people in Top-Cut at the expense of others.

BUT i wasn't there, i have no idea what happened. I'm making a general point based around your example because i do not know what happened.

GO ROSS"

Top Cut was only TOP 16. No one scooped in the top cut. The scoop was prior to the top cut.

This is the last thing that I'm am going to say then let's drop it:

After talking to the offended party recently, it sounds like the player who was banned for a short while for collusion a few years back could have a decent argument (from a third party point of view) on this one (according to his side of the story).

Also, many people would consider this against the SOTG because if Chris doesn't scoop then someone else besides Ross would have made the Top Cut. This is if Chris would have won. So, by scooping he intentionally altered the course of the event in a manner outside the normal run of play.

Let me be perfectly clear, I DO NOT THINK THAT ANYTHING SKETCHY HAPPENED. I am saying that many people might take this situation the wrong way and get very made about it (especially the person sitting at 17th place). If Chris does a write up I sure hope that it does not say that he scooped so that Ross would make it. That would set off a fire storm.

We should drop this right here, right now...

This is like people going 0-3 then dropping in all technicality. Because if you beat that person in the first round. It weakens your strength of schedule because they didn't play it out. Would would've happened if they finished 4-3. It adds a little strength as opposed to 0-X drop. So Scooping and Dropping all do the same thing whether its late tournament or mid tournament for any reason.

it's pretty cool how both the finalists have previously come second in world championships, ross 2005, cohen 2009 seniors, so it will be good that at least one of these players will have victory at last

great catch on that. glad you pointed it out

It wouldnt be the first time someone dropped to improve someone else's chances. Won't be the last. I think it should be stated as such and not apologized for. Sometimes, luck of the match-up runs deeper than deck vs deck or opening hand vs opening hand, but player vs player.

I know many times where an opponent stalling, or harrasing their opponent with technicalities changes the outcome. We hear all the time how people get a wrong game callt hat makes them lose games, or how someone makes a mistake they try and take back but can't. This is just another example, but on a much brighter note.

I mean seriously, it was Chris Fullop. If he had played someone he didnt know, he'da crushed em and neither he nor his opponent would've made cut.

I think most of us would do the same thing.

If it was the last round, and I knew I had no chance of getting in, and i was battling someone I knew, I would scoop to them since they have a shot at getting in.

Agreed. Honestly, it just seems to be Ross's day, it is likely that Ross would have won anyway. Chris was just being a nice guy...takes a lot of class and a high respect for the game for Fulop to scoop knowing he couldn't make it and to guarantee that Ross got to continue and show off his deck.

You are assuming that Chris would have won. In case you haven't noticed, Ross is a good player playing an awesome deck and his only losses were to people ahead of him that TC.

And the best part?

All the World Championship decklists will be legal for Worlds 2012!

Im sitting here watching the match and ross has a plume reuniclus 2 zekrom and phanphy whike david has 2 reshiram an emboar 2 zones and a cleffa with davis winning at 6 to 5 prizes

I was assuming that with humor. It really doesnt matter "woulda' because things are done. People will always find reasons to sya they/their friend didn't make the cut.

Go Ross go!
