This is rather baffling...
Try testing it before you say anything about it. I'm as confused as you are but if two players from the same group played the same deck, especially one that seems so obscure on the surface, then there must be something good about it. Pablo and Jerms have long since established themselves as a couple of outstanding players and they wouldn't play Nidoqueen/Milotic for no reason. Let's look at it this way:
Nidoqueen is weak to a type that is almost non-existant in both the Japanese metagame and the United States metagame.
Milotic's power, when used, does not heal ANY of the Pokemon in the Japanese ZRE deck besides Magmar, which Nidoqueen should easily take down anyway.
Nidoqueen is super-effective against Dark Tyranitar, which just happened to make up the other half of the Top 4 (GOOO ROSS!!!), as well as a lot of other Pokemon.
Milotic eats Spinning Tail damage and Rock-Lock damage in general.
I'm not sure how the Medicham ex matchup would go down, but I'm pretty sure it wouldn't have mattered. Perhaps you would somehow get Medicham ex out of the active spot and then use Milotic, which would be devastating because it doesn't heal exs (the only attacker in the deck) and it would heal everyone on your side. Or perhaps that advantage is not even needed because of the deck's natural advantage over Medi, whatever that may be. OR perhaps the deck doesn't beat Medicham at all and that was a chance they were willing to take. But if it took 1st and 3rd at Worlds, you'd better believe that it's good.
Perhaps this is the "Magma" of '05, eh?
