Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Worlds outside of US?

Canada? I know that Canada is outside the USA but from thousands of miles away it still looks like North America... but see later...

Japan: love that idea. But I can't see it ever happening :(

Hawaii: Ok, so not strictly outside the USA and already done. Hawaii is a world away from Europe (half a world :D) I hope that pokemon revisits Hawaii despite its distance.

Europe: Where and who? the where would have to be like Orlando or San Diego/Anaheim and the who is a problem of staff, player base, language and desire from the local distributors. There isn't anywhere in Europe right now that ticks all the current USA boxes. If ever a cooler location was selected within the USA then I think Europe really does have a chance for Worlds. (Go Seattle. Go Canada??)

USA: Why just the warm holiday destinations? Why not the NW or NE states?

I think that Worlds shouldn't be in USA every year. Canada is a nice country and Niagara Falls is a beautiful sight. I think it could work. I hope it will be done someday.

I think that wherever they hold it, they need somewhere that is great for families: San Diego: zoo
Anaheim and Orlando: Disney
Hawaii: Beaches

Whilst IMHO it would be great to hold it in UK, London would seem like the only viable option and apart from London zoo, (which is overshadowed by San Diego). Also the weather is often cold and bleuh (technical term).

The only place which seems to make sense in europe is Paris as there's Disneyland. But then there's the issue of a common language as nearly everyone can speak basic English, but considerably fewer can speak even the most basic french. The same issue arises with Japan. They can speak English, we can't speak Japanese.

I can't see Worlds being held in any country which doesn't speak English as its first language. Canada sounds good though.

Guys. I'll spell it out for you.

This thread is a joke.

I laugh primarily at the thread itself, but I additionally laugh at the people who thought this thread was serious.

While the initial post was obviously a joke, it's a great idea to have Worlds outside of the US.

I think it should be changing every year. First year - Japan, next year - USA, next year - Europe, next year - Japan, etc...

Hawaii was a good compromize in 2007. Right inbetween the #1 OP country, US, and the place where the game
started, in Japan. But I have a feeling, as long as POP is US based, they are gonna want it here, and I gotta say,
It would be a pain to have to get a passport to go to a pokemon tournament, be it worlds or no. And as for the, 'I've
won it twice, so I get to choose' comment...that's an interesting view....you know, there are probobly a few thousand
other players who feel they have merrit to decide it too at that rate.

Worlds in Europe wouldn't be more expensive than Worlds in the USA.

They pay 7 trips per age division for North American (3 Nationals in USA, Canada, Mexico) countries that would get a lot more expensive. A maximum of 8 trips for Japan would be slightly more expensive, too.

PUI pays 14 trips per age division for European counries (14 Nationals), which would be below $200, instead of above $1000.

North America has 9 additional invites for Nationals, and 25 for rating.
Europe has 33 addtional invites for Nationals and 20 for rating, many of them are forfeited because the players can't pay the trip.

Worlds in Europe would be less expensive for PUI and for players. This is a fact nobody can deny. Worlds are in the US because the PUI is in the US. There's nothing wrong about Worlds in USA, but they shouldn't be in the same country every year.

Having Worlds outside the US would also require all of the PUI staff to get passports.

I have a theory that this is happening because of one major factor.

Mike L. is no longer on the OP staff for Trading Cards.

Why? Is it REALLY because he has moved to the DS Gaming tourney, or was there some secretive concern that he would not be passport worthy? Look at how he handled bacon...

I am sure those seeing the bacon pictures really had their concerns....

concerns = no passport....

no passport = can't travel to Worlds outside the US...

So...here we go folks...the first conspiracy theory of the Worlds outside the US 2010 movement.

OK, who wants to shoot a whole in my theory, stating that the Video Game World Championship would be at Worlds too, and Mike L would be there...you just HAVE to take my fun away, don't you? Don't you?

Just go back and whine about your donks.

@ meganium45

You know that Dave Schwimmer, Mike Liesik and Pete de Shaw were at the European Professor Cups?
It shouldn't be a problem for them to travel around the World. ^^

Or was there a problem, that has been so hidden in the recesses of TPCi, so dark and vile that PUI had to change their name over the latest incident?

For those who REALLY can't tell, this is ALL tongue in cheek.

If you like your TO, you really shouldn't post a comment like that afstandopleren. Could be the last thing you ever hear from him.

Somalia sounds fun.

"Let me just throw this hand grenade to deter enemy fire, and then I'll Tackle for 10!" lol
