Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

2 regionals rumor

TWO REGIONALS A YEAR?

I'd die of just pure happiness. This would be the best change to pokemon since........ ever.

I know that getting bummed off of speculation is a bad habit, but being holed up in the nw does not allow for very accessible travel to another regional.

You guys can at least go to So Cal or Mtn West. Then envision being surrounded on all but one side by a a lake...or 3. :frown: I seriously see Pennsylvania as best option...What has this come to?

I like two regionals, but this could pose a SERIOUS imbalance to the K value system.

For instance...players in certain regions will have access to two regionals/season (SoCal/NoCal) while other regions are stuck with just one. Where regionals were on one day, there's now the opportunity for many to hit two while several are stuck with just one.

If the value of points weren't equal to that of nationals, I'd say it wouldn't be an issue, but this is completely different than a City marathon considering there's now an extra 32k event tossed in the mix.

Then again, I could be jumping the gun on this since nothing's been officially announced yet.

If anything I think that it would help the K value system.

First, since it's early in the year there is no pressure for the highly ranked folks to sit out and not play ... becaue there are no highly ranked folks.

Second, putting a big meaniful high K value event early in the year gives more meaning to the points gained and lost at CCs.

The point on access is where I expect the offical announcement to clear things up. I'm just guessing but I expect that we will see more regionals run overall to increase access. It also wouldn't shock me to see that something was given up for this too, be it States, Spring BRs, or prize support. We will have to see what the specifics are before we can really say much with certainty.

However, at this point I'm very excited about the news and I'm looking foward to hearing more.

Pokebeach is reporting that it will be half and half. I still like it and I will be making the trip for sure to SoCal :).

Patience!!!! Amongst Pokemon Players... LOL!!!! Now now Keith, that's blasphemy!!!!

We both know that in 3 months time someone will make a thread speculating about the location of USA Nats 2012.

I don't get it though... what's wrong with speculation?

From what I heard it should be something like this:

Battle Roads: Sept/Oct
Prereleases: Oct/Nov
Regionals: November
Cities: Nov/Dec Possibly Jan
Prereleases: Jan/Feb
States: March
Regionals: April
Prereleases: April/May
Battle Roads: May/June
Nationals: June/July
Worlds: August
Prereleases: August

I know for California, SoCal Regionals is in November while NoCal Regionals is in April. Each Regional Event will be two days. This is great for players and staff because The judges like myself won't be so tired at the end of the day and the players in top cut will be well rested for final rounds. I think this will definitely eliminate some misplays that players may make when they're tired. I'm sure full details will be released soon enough so I guess until then keep the discussion going!

My PTO says hes going to announce date/location for Regionals today

Edit: Maybe not... Nothing yet

looks like vg will be included http://pokebeach.com/

Which is fantastic! From what I understand is that the goal is to get the VGC setting to be somewhat comparative to the TGC structure with some of the problems removed by this gen's inclusion of the battle box and this looks like the first step in that direction. Oh how I would enjoy more VGC lovin'.

I'm sure this decision is going to save a lot of money on venues too...Meaning MORE PRIZES TO ACCOUNT FOR THE LACK OF VENUE COSTS?!

*Holds breath until he chokes*

Is it official that they'll be holding the same amount of regionals just spread out?

aka am I going to have to drive 8 hours to go to the farther one

The good news is that a 2nd Regional is coming.

The bad news is that it is going to be only in California and Hawaii.

Just like Worlds.

Bwahahaha.
