Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

good animes to watch

Infinite Stratos was an unimpressive and predictable "traditional harem" anime. It's not anything to write home about.

There are MUCH better shows out there, as the ones others and myself have already mentioned.

Lots of shows mentioned here are unimpressive and predictable. Honestly this topic just reads to me like a typical top anime list, with no differentiation between coherent and incoherent shows. I cannot really get into which are trash or not without getting into something that could be seen as "bashing/flaming/trolling" though, I would think.

Id recomment you to watch full metal alchemist, awesome story and actually quite tense and serious but still a shonen. Just not brain-dead. And another recommendation, one of my favorites, "Mahou sensei negima". ONLY! read the manga, the anime is trash². Also remember that it has some fan-service, especially in the first 3 volumes, which are pretty aswful.

The think with negima is that it started out as a love hina clone (same author) because that was what he was supposed to do and he just gradually changes it to what he wants it to be.[/fanboy]

The Mahou Sensei Negima!? version is a quality anime, especially the first ~17 episodes. It does a lot of weird good things, although the humor falls flat sometimes by the virtue of them constantly trying for jokes and to do weird things. It has a very unique flair that almost no anime has. I assume you probably were unaware of it though, since I agree with you that the first Negima is very dull and incoherent attempt at adapting anything.

Negima never started out as a Love Hina clone. You could feel distinct similarities, but Love Hina was dumbing down the plot with harem gags ad nauseum, whereas Negima had a plot and good action prioritized over the harem aspects, although eventually character bloat starts weighing that down a lot.

@SS7: Thanks, I will look for the manga. I have a bit of a preference for the obviously visible action though <_<'.

@Yoshi: I've meant to watch FMA for a while now, maybe I will just have to start on it! It seems really awesome.

I've heard some bad stuff about negima, but sounds like you know what's up (manga generally > anime in terms of story as well).

Reccomendation topic?

Reccomendation topic!

The Lucifer and Biscuit hammer- A manga about a college child who awakes one day with a Lizard at the foot of his bed. It later explains to him a conflict that will result in the very destruction of the planet. It starts off incredibly straightforward, but there's quite a few twists. About 10 chapters in you'll begin to realize this is not catetered to children at all.Characters will die. 65 Chapters long and just recently completed(about 5 months ago) it's an absolutely great read that will keep you interested throughout.

Veritas- Take everything you know about a main character and throw it out the window. The main character of Veritas is more like a villian than anything else. He isn't so much evil as he is unconcerned with the consequences of his actions. He's introduced into a new world of martial arts, and as expected, gets destroyed fight after fight in the early chapters. However, his personality grows on you, and with each fight you root for him and his underdog "Dirty" style of fighting. Unfortunately, the Manwha is split into two parts. Part one just concluded and there's no word as to if part two will ever be written.

Even thought it hasn't finished airing yet, Steins;Gate is totally awesome.

I might pick that up, since I've been needing something short that can be watched at a good pace.

I've got Naruto, Bleach, Gosick, [C], that are all 1/week affairs, and the other thing I'm watching now is Gintama. One really needs to splice other shows in while watching Gintama, otherwise it gets a bit stale, like if you're watching 7 episodes over the course of a day, HAHA.

Oh man, if you're liking [C], I'd totally reccomend watching Ano Hana. It's got one week left and it's more or less sealed itself as the best show of the season.

Id have to give it to Tiger and Bunny for this season. Sunrise strikes again. For everyone, theres certain shows/ movies one should watch at least once in their life.

Akira
Neon genesis Evangelion
Grave of the fireflies
Jin Roh

My personal recommendations-
Big O (sad theres no third season)
Darker than black (one of the best action ones, great story as well, S2 is kinda meh though)
MD Geist (Gory, over the top, one of the original super soldiers)
Legend of Galactic heroes. (One of the best space Odyssey's ever made)
Gurren Lagann (despite it taking a lot of stuff from previous series, it actually makes you feel good by watching it)
Samurai Champloo (Action, well done story with a hip hop twist. It is really good)
YuYu Hakusho (shounen done right, great english dub)
Paranoia agent (just watch haha)
Shuffle! ( I saw harems mentioned, ad as far as harems go, its pretty good. And the MC actually picks a girl!)

Dunno how many other people are a fan of it, but, I thoroughly enjoyed Eureka 7. It's a 50 episode anime that was, to me, really well done. I strongly recommend it. (However, don't watch the movie. Trust me.)

Don't think I've heard this yet but, I love hetalia. It's just all the countries in the world personified and thrown into a comedy. Although the episodes are very short (5 mins each), there are about 101 of them. It's my favorite anime and I highly recomend it.

I'm going to have to toss in a vote to Durarara! It wasn't something I thought I was going to like, but around episode three it was pretty awesome. Summaries are hard to give without killing some part of the plot.

Durarara!! is also excellent. Good call Trican.

I've also fallen in love with Nichijou (My Ordinary Life). Available for free (subbed) on Crunchyroll. Its Slice-of-Life/Comedy thats really sweet but hilarious. Its the new Azumanga Daioh in my opinion, but I haven't finished it yet (since its not done airing).

If anyone has a MyAnimeList (MAL) thats also a really helpful website and way to keep track of anime. A link to mine is in my signature.

One anime I absolutely love is Steins;Gate.

If you haven't watched it, I'd dearly recommend it.

Edit: Katanagatari is also worthwhile.
