Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

St. Louis MO Regionals Nov 12 and 13 in Crestwood MO

This just makes me hate myself even more for not going...that was my worst matchup....:nonono:

I dunno about that...these were my match ups:

  1. Donphan Dragons (W)
  2. Reshiphlosion (L)
  3. Goth (W)
  4. Reshiphlosion (W)
  5. ZPST (L)
  6. Truth (W)
  7. ZPST + Yanmega (W)
  8. Beartic Lock (W)
  9. Donphan Dragons (W-L-L)
There was definitely a lot of variety, but I'd opine that Reshiphlosion was well represented. Likely outnumbered to ZPST though.

iplayed 3 reshiphlosion's and beat 2 and loss to one, the 2 reshiphlosion's i faced i had 1 card left in my deck and then the other i had 2 o_O? can i get a lol? building reshiphlosion naow though!

EDIT: the 2 i beat i had 1 card and 2 cards left in my deck

From the BIG CHAIR.

First and foremost, thank you to Mrs. 45. Regionals have never been easier since I have had you step up and assist me (and for all those reading, translate - I have had her do EVERYTHING).

Second - and pretty darned close - Thanks to Christine Noah for being there. Many of you may know Christine as the "Super-Runner" of Nationals and Worlds, but goodness gracious she is so much more than that. She took the co-ordinator's role, and ran with it, to the point we just kept everything going without feeling overwhelmed. The SINGLE best decision I made this weekend was getting Christine involved and putting her in this role.

Third - Clay Mitchell and Devin...

Clay, brother we have done this so many times, I am surprised people don't get us confused. You need to put on a little more weight and get a lot more beautiful I guess...LOL

Devin, you simply make the Video Game Regional Rock! Your energy, control and attitude are second to none. Thank you SO MUCH for being with us.

Fourth - my HJ group and Ray Simmons...

Tino - going to miss you as life gets busy next year...you know my respect for you.

Rick Mitchell - The man in the big chair! I am SOOO happy you took on this role, GREAT JOB.

Mike Copper - You proved once again you can judge with the best, and keep the largest group going. You are really showing me you know how to lead a judge staff...KUDOS.

Ray Simmons - I did kind of stick you with a lot of coordinator stuff, didn't I???? You were a bigger help than I think even you realized! Always great to see you and the family. Let your son know razors and barbers DO exist.

The Hive - Stephen Clouse and Ryan...masterful as always, fixing the confustion and keeping the ship on track. You don't get through 8 rounds by 6:30 pm starting at 11:00 am with a 1 hour lunch break WITHOUT a GREAT HIVE

Doug Wagner - Once again, if I get some grey in my beard and glasses, we are going to get confused...oh, wait, I guess you would have to shave some hair! LOL!!! Simply awesome.

The rest of the judging staff....just because I don't have room and people will get tired of reading...we had a not of new faces who jumped right in, and some great old faces who kept coming back, and some REALLY old faces who made a return from a LONG time ago....what a great crew. Always energized, keeping the players going, and just impressing me. I will be sending evaluations out to EACH of you and to Play!Pokemon in the next week. Don't worry, I'm not grading on a curve! You all made the event so smooth...you are what makes the event great!

My side event brothers - Alan, Steve, Jana, Joan, Judy...what a great group - the contests and everything were so popular...dodgeball, cupcakewalk, art contest, trivia contest, league, and so much more that makes our Regional a Pokemon FESTIVAL as much as a Regional. You are my friends and mean so much to me.

Angela Durand gave us about the best comment she could...she was happy because she was bored. Nothing that we couldn't handle that forced her to step in. Great having here there, and I just wish she had been able to be with us on Saturday to see the full festival atmosphere...family weddings For the Loss.

To be honest, thinking about this event just makes me smile. Even the kids who were 1-5 were having a good time. That is the sign of a GREAT Pokemon event.

I am hoping that all staff can take a little something that we did here back to their own event, and make their events just a little bit more. We all love this game.

Thank you all, my extended Family.

We all live in a Pokemon World! Woot and CHAW!

Vince

One of, if not, the smoothest tournament I've ever seen. The players have been great the staff I worked with is great. It felt great to see how others do things.

Thanks to Vince for putting on a great tournament and for having me on staff. I valued the experience I gained by judging this event... I leveled up!

Mike Copper, It was great to work with you. You taught me a lot and you were a cool judge to work with.

Thanks to Christine for being great at her role and making sure we all made it safely to and from St. Louis.

Devin, it was great working with you for the VGC as well.

Overall, I like to say that this was a great experience. I met a lot of new friends. Despite it being hard work, it was fun work. I hope to see most of everyone I met later on down the lines.

PS: For those who I met over this weekend, I want to add all you on FB (if possible) shoot me PMs. :thumb:

Sour Grapes:
Troll and Toad only showed up one day
The venue was a run down art mall?
It was dark in the gaming area by 4:30pm

*Agreed 100% with this. T&T had a chance to really impress the playing community that holds them in high regard, and they really dropped the ball by not being there for Friday or Sunday.

*This isn't as big of a deal IMO. Considering that our Regionals have been in race tracks/high schools, context is everything, and in context, I think the space worked. Except for...

*The darkness, lol.

Really guys..you are gonna slam the space...? A run down Art Mall? Could have been in a cramped over priced hotel space.

3 years at this location and I will miss it next year when its gone...So much room to get around

The mall staff is to blame for the lack of lighting...we had more in the past...they simply do not want to put anything into improving it since the mall will be closing in the near future...

I did ask if we could get more lighting...I had a problem with the lighting too...but....

Insulting the space is insulting Vince and his store...not gonna stand for that...stay in texas next time if you hve a problem with it.

...and thanks for coming!!

No one insulted anyone, both of the players who brought up issues brought them up respectfully, and John even gave solid reasoning. Not sure it's the best idea to encourage players not to come to events because they expressed dislike for a few facets of the event. =\

Hey All,

Talked with Vince, we will have the tournament uploaded by Wednesday!
As far as Troll, you guys have a lot of great stuff, we have no control when they run out of money :)

I agree with Clay, I am going to miss the dark and spooky Mall :)

Keep the comments coming, positive and negative. Though I am only going to read the positive--haha

Also thanks again to all who traveled, ya'll come back, ya hear.

I have no problem with suggestions for the staff and improving the event...welcome them in fact.

Sometimes though I feel some people simply complain for sake of complaining...

Kenny: I think Prof Clay was just referencing jk, since I said that the space worked.

I see why the offense is there, though, since it wasn't a "run-down art mall" event; it was a Yeti Gaming event. And Yeti Gaming did a fantastic job.

Here's a link to the pics I took from the weekend... Tried to get as much of an overview of it all as I could for you, for those who couldn't make it or those of you who want to remember how much fun it was. I was helping out in the VGC on Sunday so missed some of the pics of the Top Finals, but if anyone has ones I missed that they'd like to send me, I'd be happy to add them to the album! Tomorrow I'll add some comments, but wanted to get them up for you asap as I didn't have internet while I was there.

Was an amazing weekend! Was great to see all of you there! (hope to see many of you again at our MW Regionals in Madison WI in April!)

Here is my report from the tournament... my top 32 report. Details are as accurate as I can remember, but there may be a few things slightly off. Looking back now, I think my opponent in game 2 took one prize in her last turn of the game, and I don't think I played against my round 3 opponent the night before [it was someone else's stage 1's list]. Regardless, here it is. And enjoy it please! :)

Great report and I'm still proud to have started your day off with your first victory! You had a terrific deck and great strategy and I have to say, it was one of the most fun matches of my day. So glad to find out just how well you wound up doing, My whole family had a great time both days, made lots of new friends, and had just an all around great time. :) Kudos to Vince and his team!

Celia from Cincinnati, Proud to be a Pokemom!
